About the host

I am from Appalachia and until the age of 7 lived right here on this property. It has remained in the family since 1980. I do this to be able to make the farm pay for itself so that it can remain in the family for as long as possible. Too many family farms get turned into subdivisions and the beauty of the place is it's seclusion, peacefulness, and wide open spaces. I love hearing from guests that they love the place and can't wait to return.

Why they chose this property

I enjoy that we have very few neighbors and know them all by name. It's a tiny but close knit community. We all look out for each other. When this area was hit by helene we reduced our rates and hosted those coming in to help with recovery efforts. Since we have a generator we never lost power while everyone else around us waited for weeks for power to be restored. We even let our neighbors use our property between renters to they could shower or wash clothes.

What makes this property unique

Nestled in a valley with multiple springs, limited technology, and limited neighbors; this small farm offers what so few can a journey back in time to peace and quiet that can't be found in the cities.
