Hidden gem! Enjoyed everything the property had to offer. Kayaking, fishing, swimming. Enjoyed all the board games on the few rainy days. Great week to relax, recharge, reconnect with family.
Beautiful location, peaceful atmosphere. Just one neighboring house, occupied only on weekends. The interior was tastefully decorated and had all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The outdoor area, including a patio and barbecue grill, allowed for relaxation and outdoor dining. Owners are very friendly.
If you are looking for quiet and relaxation on the water - this is the spot! Great location for exploring parks and historic VT locations - <3 hiking in this area! Clean space, engaged owners, cabin has everything you need for a week stay - only need food, beverages, bug spray and sunscreen! Thank you again for the hospitality - we will be back - our lab/dog wanted to move there! :-)
This was the perfect time and place for my wife and myself. We had a blast swimming , kayaking ,sightseeing ,reading and listening to music. This was a perfect place for us 2 newly retired . Time to unwind and relax. Local people are super friendly. Local food at Orwell General Store and staff were great. Owners are friendly and helpful with any questions. Thank you to staff at Wheel. Thank you to all the wonderful people of Vermont

Thank you for the wonderful review. We are so happy that you had a nice time. It was such a pleasure to have you both at the cabin. Thank you for taking good care of the cabin.
Lovely log cabin home, well-equipped. Road in is dirt and gravel. Fine for us driving trucks, but would be hesitant with a lower car. Fishing was great and lots of equipment for water fun. Perch pond is very clean and tranquil. Remote setting, but close enough to several towns for shopping and exploring. Great getaway. Hosts are very responsive.
We had a wonderful stay at Perch Pond! Kayaking, fishing, hiking the roads or just reading & relaxing at the oh so comfortable cabin. Clean, well equipped for all our needs, and so quiet. Also had a lovely dinner at Cafe Provence in Brandon and great hikes at Snake Mtn & around Silver Lake in Salisbury. Mary was very helpful and answered our questions. The week went way too fast. Highly recommend a restorative stay here!
Cozy cabin on a small lake (pond) in rural Vermont. Beautiful site and comfortable accommodations as long as you understand what it means to rent a cabin. The only issue we had was the road getting in --- I'm glad we had my wife's SUV; my Mustang would have been toast on the half-mile or so dirt driveway. A foreshadowing should be added to the listing.
Relaxing and quiet, felt like we were the only ones at Perch Pond. Direct view of the water and deck with grill was great. We could cook and eat outdoors while enjoying sights and sounds of nature.
Loved this property. Loved the view. Has everything we needed. Enjoyed the window AC unit in first floor bedroom. Upstairs might have been very warm had the nights not been cool. Loved the deck, dock, and fire pit The pond is easy to kayak around as it's small. Voices carry easily across the pond due to size. Spent most every day in the water. Loved it.
Dined at The Wheel Inn several times during our stay. Nice local restaurant.
Loved that we were able to bring our older dog. Thoroughly enjoyed the week and would definitely stay again!
Nice deck. Great approach/driveway. No close neighbors beyond those several feet across pond. Quiet, relatively secluded with nice fire pit and kayaks/canoe. Kitchen a little live, but whose doesn't.
We wanted a quiet!! Spot. And this cabin was perfect. We live 40 minutes away but felt like we were millions of miles away. This cabin was overstocked with everything we could of needed. We brought our 2 pups for their first vacation. They swam the entire week all day. Clean and perfect. Can't wait to go back
for kayaking, swimming, fishing, and hiking, it's super
The owners were perfection on communicating and fixing problems. If you want access to a small/medium sized pond (there are perhaps 12 other homes around the pond), where swimming, kayaking, and fishing are easily done and enjoyable, then this is your cabin in the woods. The house is old, wood floors and stairs that creak, no dishwasher, but very comfortable for a family of four. Breakfast on the deck looking over the pond is perfection. Get bait at the bait shop on 22A, before the General Store, on the way up from Fair Haven, worms work best, forget the fancy lures. The General Store has good prices and a little bit of everything, including soft ice cream. If you have a dog and take her/him on hikes in the woods, be prepared to deal with ticks, lots of ticks. We didn't get any, but our dog was a tick magnet. Burlington and Middlebury are well worth road trips. Use Trail Finder for walks. If you like auto racing or just have an anthropological interest, the Devil's Bowl Speedway off 22A is a sensation on a Saturday night. Cabin doesn't have ESPN but it does have Netflix. Internet is unavoidably slow, so that's an additional excuse to be off the grid.
I had a super time at the Lakehouse, kayaking and walking everyday, and relaxing on the deck. The house is well laid out and private, which was super for me and my dog. The owners were super helpful with my questions and did everything possible for me to enjoy my stay. I am going again this year!!
Gorgeous setting and pond. Great for swimming, kayaking and enjoying the natural beauty. House was nicely equipped with everything we needed. Had a wonderful stay
This little piece of heaven is nestled way off the road among the pines and maples. It is peaceful and quiet, with the birds, chipmunks, toads and lizards as your neighbors. There is a lite breeze all the time, everything seems crisp and clear. The stars at night seem to dare you to touch them. The cabin is extremely clean and well stocked, I can't think of a single thing that wasn't available. There are kayaks and a paddle boat for your use on the pond and make sure to bring your fishing rods. A great time was had by all.
My husband and I rented the 3-bedroom log home from June 30th to July 7th. Unfortunately, we had to leave three nights early because my husband got called out on storm work. The pond was awesome and our lab loved the water. I went out on the pedal boat every day we were there and it was in the upper 90s the whole time which made it a little bit uncomfortable because it was so humid, but other than that I would definitely rent this place again but probably not right in the beginning of Summer. We will shoot for fall next time. The nearest town is Rutland which is about 28 miles away and they have a Walmart, T.J.Maxx and a grocery store (Price Chopper). They also have quite a few places to eat like Applebee's, Little Caesars, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, etc. I recommend this place to anybody that is not afraid of not having access to their cell phone service for a full week and just wants to get away from everything, like literally everything. Also, there's a gas station about 2.5 miles from Perch Pond Road which has soft serve ice cream. Thanks for letting us stay and we look forward to it next time!

A True Vermont Experience
A truly stress free vacation experience. All the comforts of home with direct access to the best nature has to offer. We had a few planned day trips but we spent most of our time enjoying the peacefulness of the cabin and water access. Fishing and kayaking on the pond was exceptional. This is an experience we will consider doing again. Would love to see during fall foliage.

Wonderful, peaceful and relaxing!
We had a wonderful week on Perch Pond. The cabin is in a beautiful, peaceful spot with plenty of room inside, fabulous decks both up top and down by the water. Our golden retriever had a ball in the water and we joined him in the water often. A great getaway with fun places to visit and eat nearby. While there were only two of us and two dogs, the house could easily accommodate 6, with an additional pull out in the living room. The owners answered all of our questions quickly and had some great recommendations for places to eat and visit. Highly recommended and we hope to be back again.

Our favorite place to vacation!
This is the most peaceful place on Earth. We absolutely adore this cabin and the pond! It's the perfect retreat for swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking, reading, and relaxing. The house is very clean and cozy. Everything is well-stocked, and we felt at home immediately. The owners are great people - very kind and professional. If visiting the area, you must try The Wheel Inn for breakfast, Cafe Provence for brunch or dinner, and American Flatbread in Middlebury. The food is delicious. You're a short drive from lots of great eateries and places to explore. There is a fire pit for campfires; we purchased wood and supplies to make smores from Buxton's General Store just a short drive away. It was very convenient. Another highlight were the delicious and colossal ice creamies at Pam's - a must try! We would recommend this beautiful vacation spot to anyone looking for a special getaway away from noise and technology, but still surrounded by the comforts of a beautiful cabin with great amenities! And the location is breathtaking. We cannot wait to go back!

Quiet Get-away location
We thoroughly enjoyed out stay July 19-26,2014. The new porch was lovely and we enjoyed eating out on the deck for every meal. The cottage is nicely furnished and we had virtually everything we needed. The beach area is clear of most weeds and great for swimming and launching a kayak or the paddleboat. There was very little noise from other camps and those folks (and dogs) we met were friendly. The driveway into the camp needs to be travelled slowly because it's a single lane and has loose gravel and potholes. Although we were told the pond water was safe to drink, we found it better to use bottle water for drinking and cooking to avoid the metallic taste. We would definitely come back again!

Thank you for submitting such a positive review! We are happy that you and your family had a great vacation. I just wanted to clarify for future renters that the cabin has well water with a water softener/filtration system and does not use "pond" water. It was a pleasure dealing with you and thanks again for taking the time to write a review!
