About this property
Rainier Explorer-Mount Rainier NP-Ski-Hottub
Please note that as stated in the description, the cabin is older and rustic and we have been and will be slowly be renovating it over time. You will find imperfections, but nothing that would affects functionality. If you are looking for a high end or new luxury place to stay, this might not be the right place for you. If you are looking for an outdoor haven and charm and character, then it’s a great match!
The stairs are positioned in such a way that it’s a steep narrow opening to get into the first bedroom and the living room. While we don’t think it’s an inconvenience, it should be considered when deciding to book. Just watch your head!
Some phone carriers will have very limited service at the property as well.
Due to the heavily trees area and the unpredictable weather in Washington, we often have brief power outages. The power is usually restored within an hour. Often people ask where the breaker box is during an outage. Please note that if the power is out, it is an area wide outage that county PUD will be working as quickly as possible to repair and restore the power. There is no need to do anything with the breaker box in this event. Due to country outages being outside of our control, discounts or refunds will not be given unless the outage causes a safety concern that results in needing to cancel the reservation.
IMPORTANT:
We just had a brand new septic system installed that was a lengthy and expensive process. Part of the system is located on the grass lawn to the left of the driveway when pulling in. There are large rocks located in the area to deter anyone from driving over the system and destroying it. We have a very long driveway, 2 carports, as well as a second driveway for guest parking so there should never be a need to drive across the yard and destroy both the lawn and septic system. Please do not under any circumstance drive on this area. Park only in the driveways, carports, or on the street, thank you!
Indoor propane fireplace is currently not in service.
Please note there will be a late check out fee of $50 for guests are not checked out on time without prior approval and go over the 15 minute grace period.
Additionally, please remember that the cleaning fee is paid in full to the cleaner which covers cleaning the house, laundering and preparing for the next guest. It does not include cleaning up garbage, washing excessive amounts of dishes, or other excessive cleaning. If the cleaning company charges extra for excessive mess, this cost will be passed to the guest.
This petite yet well laid out space has everything you need to enjoy your trip to the mountains, including a variety of board games and dvds, comfortable and stylish furnishings, a well stocked newly remodeled kitchen, brand new 4 person hot tub with gazebo, outdoor firepit, and more! The cabin is located in High Valley Country club and is a 5 minute drive to downtown Packwood, 10 miles from the Mount Rainier National park entrance, 20 minutes to White Pass Ski Resort, and is the gateway to Gifford Pinchot National Forest and Goat Rocks Wilderness. The property is heavily treed within the scenic neighborhood. Currently, the property is not fenced and neighbors are visible in the fashion of a regular neighborhood (cabin is not alone in the middle of the woods please note) and currently the neighbor to the left is in very close proximity though the neighboring cabin is vacant during the winter.
We are pet friendly! We do however require pets to be added to the reservation and the pet fee paid. This is due to our cleaning service charging additional pet cleaning fees due to hair etc.

Please Note:
The cabin is in a regular neighborhood with neighboring cabins on all sides, and is not remote in the middle of the woods with complete privacy outdoors.
The neighboring cabin to the left is very close, however is vacant for the entire winter.
Packwood is a remote community in the mountains and is surrounded by wilderness. It is beautiful, but please keep in mind wildlife sightings are frequent including large elk, bear, etc.
The cabin is a little over 500 square feet making it a small size. While the cabin contains everything needed for your stay, please keep the size in mind before booking as it is not a large space.
We are pet friendly but do require an additional $50 pet fee, as well as the pet to be added to the reservation. This is due to our cleaning service charging us an extra $50 fee to ensure all the pet hair is removed from the house upon cleaning.
