Hideaway boasts breathtaking views of the entire Grandfather profile, including the mile-high bridge, America’s highest suspension bridge, all from your back deck where it is rare to see temperatures above 80 degrees.

Hideaway is at the end of a tree canopied road that provides access to only two houses. With Hideaway being the last house on the gravel road, your privacy is secured, save the occasional visit from the many deer, turkeys, a bear or three, and even the occasional bobcat, fox, or owl.

In the winter there is Sugar Mountain Ski Resort (20 minutes), laying claim to the longest ski run on the eastern seaboard, Beech Mountain (40 Minutes), with the highest elevation on the eastern seaboard, and Appalachian (40 minutes) known for its family friendly atmosphere. Not to mention Hawksnest (25 minutes) home to one of the largest snow tubing parks in the southeast with four tubing areas and up to thirty lanes as well as year-round (weather permitting) zip lining.

Grandfather Mountain, the Carolina’s largest attraction, is open 365 days a year and boasts 16 distinct ecological communities.

North Carolina’s first alpine coaster, also opened year-round, is a short ride through Linville Ridge into the historic town of Banner Elk.

The local ski mountains are open in the summer for mild to expert mountain biking and there are numerous rafting outfitters and golf courses peppered in all directions.

Enjoy local shopping in Banner Elk as well as extensive boutique shopping in Blowing Rock.

From local wineries offering daily tours, craft breweries, and the nearby steak houses, BBQ shacks, and the extensive local cuisine, you’re sure to satisfy any appetite and with all the local activities, you’re likely to return in better shape, not to mention refreshed and rejuvenated, making plans to return before you depart.

Really nice remote location. We loved our long weekend, the house is remote while still close to town and trails. It was very clean and well stocked

This cabin was everything you would hope it would be. It was quaint, clean, and peaceful! The host is very communicative of you have questions they answer within 2 days. There was all kinds of wildlife around. And so many fun things to do in the area. We can't wait to go back!

The house is very cozy and comfortable with a very functional kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay that was for a mix of work and family time. The road and driveway was a little cuckoo for my work van and the outside is a bit overgrown and could use some areas trimmed back. Would definitely return again!

Beautiful hidden cabin at the top of the mountain with great mountain and forrest views. Cabin was recently renovated with top of the line appliances, furniture, a huge master bedroom bed and a relaxing free standing soaking tub. If you want relaxation and seclusion in a luxury setting, this is the place to stay.

Fantastic spot. The only, I mean only complaint is the flat top aka Blackstone over a standard grill. I own a Blackstone and they are hard to maintain or it will rust. Needless to say, this properties was rusted. Not ruined, but I didn’t have a drill to buff off the rust. Why do I still give them 5 stars? They had a Lodge cast iron skillet and gas stove tops! Just as good, if not better! My wife and 2 pups escaped to the mountains for my birthday! The stars were something else up that high! We played cards, watch movies and took advantage of that nice kitchen. Didn’t leave house once!We will be back!

Although the house was nice and updated inside, outside was a bit disappointing and seriously needs some TLC. It was quite overgrown and the deck could use a thorough power washing. We did not use it because it was so dirty. There was a huge pile of debris next to the fire pit which is not safe given snakes and potential fires. The outside of the home is in need of power washing and stain. There really is no clean outdoor space where you can sit and enjoy nature as all the outdoor furniture was filthy. It just seemed very neglected which was sad. The windows (inside and out) have not been cleaned in some time as were both toilets (scummy and black moldy residue under rim), bathtub (long black hair), sinks (hair). Faucets in the tub and sink both dripped constantly. There are no closets and no place to hang clothing. The pillowcases where too small to cover the pillows which we found to be a bit gross. Nicer linens would be a real plus. The view in summer is partial. We could see the top of grand-father mountain but the view would be much better if the owner would cut some of the lower branches on trees in direct view. The owner was nice and respond quickly. He did send someone to clear away the 5' tall weeds around the firepit and try to help fix the A/C which did not work. This location was a bit too remote for us due to the dirt roads. For the price point, there were many other properties that seemed much nicer with better views and outdoor space
