We spent a lovely week at the Bayview cottage and intend to come back. The location is perfect, with beautiful views of Sutton's Bay and a short walk to the village. The bedroom accommodations are a little unusual - you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the other - and the kitchen is a little small - but overall the property worked out beautifully for my wife and me. Loved it.
Great property, want to come again. Have great pictures of the Inland Seas schooner. Many great memories of sailing a 33' sloop on this bay. Halcyon days...

Wonderful stay!
Really enjoyed this rental. It is close to Hop Lot and all the downtown stores. We were able to leave the car home and walk to everything! This rental is right on the bay and the view is beautiful. We did not cook much at the rental but they did have a nice setup in the kitchen. Very nice rental, very clean and we hope to return!
Bayview cottage is the perfect location for a young family or a retired couple! View was gorgeous from the front porch with proximity to all Suttons Bay has to offer. We are very happy with our visit and hope to return again and again!
Support from property manager was also available, friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Nice Location
Mostly as described. A few minor things that could be better.
The view was worth the money alone. The weather was perfect. The traffic was insane. I would highly recommend a blow dryer, a shower mat and measuring spoons be added. Beds and lots of towels were appreciated. Pam, the property manager, was wonderful.
I loved our location, the walk to Sutton's Bay, and the Hop Lot! I loved that our kids could go right out the door and swim. However the smell of "wet dog" inside the home is very strong, also there were hairs and dirt on surfaces, like light fixtures which makes me think the home hasn't had a deep cleaning in a while!

Hi Sonja, we truly appreciate you sharing your thoughts about your recent stay. Your feedback is essential to us, and we've relayed your comments to the homeowner, who would like to address the following:- We are surprised to hear this feedback as we were never made aware of these concerns until now.- Just prior to this reservation, we brought in carpet cleaners to deep clean the carpets and couches. This was in addition to a through cleaning from our regular cleaning team, who have consistently maintained the property according to our standards, since 2020.-Know that we have multiple contacts available to guests and we are happy to address any concerns as they arise in order to ensure a great stay.
We had a very pleasant stay at this property. The location is superb: right on the water, adjacent to a nice park, and within easy walking distance of the shops and restaurants of Suttons Bay. It feels secluded even though it really isn't. The cottage itself needed a little work. The furniture is worn and could stand an upgrade and the layout of the bedrooms is a little odd; however, it was perfect for us and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Suttons Bay Cottage
The property wasn't as advertised in several ways. The cottage was very old, had a bad musty odor, electrical was very out of date with an apparent lack of GFI protection for outlets near sinks as required by electrical code. AC was only good for living area, not bedrooms. There didn't appear to be adequate smoke detectors for bedrooms as required by fire code. The deck was chipping paint and really couldn't be walked on without shoes. We were very dissapointed and left the following morning after checking in. Have not been able to get a refund on rental cost.

From the owner: Hi Larry, we are disappointed that you were not satisfied with our home. We offered you a refund for the days that you would not be staying and were prepared to just charge you for the one night you stayed there. We have confirmed with Evolve, and despite the delay, your refund was sent to you. We would also like to clarify the following; - The property is as advertised, and the photos in the listing are accurate. They depict exactly what you will see when you get to the property. - It does not have a musty odor of any kind. - All of the GFI outlets have been approved by a certified electrician. - The carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are in multiple locations throughout the house. - Regarding the AC, this is the only point that was correct in your review, and we have rectified this by adding a window unit to keep the bedroom cool for all our future guests. - The outdoor patio is in good shape, but it is in nature's elements, which means it gets rained on, wind-blown, and heated by the sun. We're sorry that it did not meet your standards. We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and we are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!

Poor description of bedrooms. Location is beautiful. Needs update/cleaning.
Unfortunately the property is not a described and didn’t list important details. To get to the larger bedroom, you have to walk through the bunk bed room to get there. We brought a toddler and dogs with us and this was a large inconvenience, as she slept in a pack and play and went to bed much earlier than us. The bathroom had been recently renovated and was nice. Otherwise 2 chairs in the living room were very old with tears and holes in them. House was vacuumed and clean per se, but could use a deep cleaning and updates for sure. Numerous outlets were broken and others would not keep cords plugged in. Air conditioning is a wall unit and does not get back to the bedroom well if it’s warm out. Location was beautiful and as described. Property has shared dock and fire pit/chair access. This is listed and nothing wrong with that, but the neighbors in the larger house did not ever share that location.
Overall, we had an amazing week in Sutton’s Bay. This cottage has the absolute best location if you have kids. It is right next to a public beach/park that also has a playground. Our kids really enjoyed playing there, and we loved being able to sit on the deck in the morning while they ran to the park to play— all still within eye shot! We loved having the dock and fire pit! This cottage also is a very short walk to town and to Hop Lot Brewery. There is also a great grocery store right across the street. We loved being able to walk or bike around.
I would also say the kitchen was adequately stocked; there was plenty of fire wood; and we really didn’t need for anything.
On the negative side, the cottage is more rustic than I expected. There were quite a few bugs, especially in the bathroom. They weren’t gross or scary, they were just outside bugs. I felt like I was camping? I also think it could use some updates (new carpet!). Again, it was all totally fine, and really didn’t affect our week, but it just was different than what we expected. That said, for the price, you truly cannot beat it. Just know that it’s rustic and absolutely perfectly situated, but it’s not the Four Seasons :)
The Bayview Cottage was perfect for my wife and me. It was clean with a nice view of the water. It is also very close to restaurants, shopping, and groceries. It was what we had hoped for, and we had a pleasant stay.
This was our first time to northern Michigan and we loved everything about our trip. This cute cottage was in a perfect location. Perfect size. Walking distance to downtown Suttons Bay and Hop Lot Brewery. Great location for visiting Glen Arbor, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Leland, Northport, Traverse City and Mission Peninsula. This cottage is on the lake and gorgeous sunrises were right out our front porch. The owners provided great communication. We can’t wait for our next visit!
My husband and I enjoyed sitting by the water each day while reading and having our coffee. The views are very nice. I liked being within walking distance of the shopping and dining in Sutton’s Bay. The park was right next door, but it was never crowded and everyone was pleasant.

Great location, but stinky
This is at a great location, very close to town. The place, especially the bedroom smelled bad and was dirty. The bathroom wallpaper was pealing, stinky carpet, dirty couch, dirty kitchen, disgusting bed. Would not rent again, however the area is amazing, the people are great. The property manager for this property is very sweet, so if you must just bring lots of febreeze!

Hi Anna, We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback, but we were surprised to receive your review. The homeowners work with a cleaning service who prepares the cottage before each guest's arrival, which includes stocking fresh linens in each of the bedrooms. The owners wish that you had reached out at any time during your stay to let them know that you had cleanliness concerns - they would have immediately assisted you! We have never had any cleanliness issues at this property before, and we are looking forward to helping the owners continue to provide 5-star experiences for each guest that they host in their vacation home. Best, the Evolve Team

Wonderful cottage! Great spot for kids.
Plenty to do at the cottage with the bay steps away. Location is great for sunrises and walking distance to town. We’ll be staying again.
