Wow! What a magical cottage and location. Thanks for sharing Rachel! Our fairyland stay was too short. We already miss our newfound marine mammalian and mollusk friends.

Thank you Eastman for choosing Malahat Fairyland Cottage. You are absolutely welcome back again
Rachel was a fabulous host! The cottage was amazing, clean and soooo cozy. We enjoyed watching the eagles and seals play in front of us while we cooked on the bbq. Hot tub was clean and hot to relax in such a beautiful oasis. Bed was comfortable and we had a wonderful sleep. Woke up early for a coffee and hot tub before checking out. This is an amazing little place if you want seclusion and a romantic get away!!!! By far the best place we have ever experienced
This cottage was absolutely magical, once of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. The cottage itself was very warm and clean and cozy, and the land around it was stunning and so quiet and peaceful. We saw seals and an otter! I do wish there were clear written instructions for the fireplace and hot tub(we couldn't figure out how to turn it on), but other than that it was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend and hope to return!

We saw the pictures and were charmed. The lead picture shows the outdoor hot tub, perched above the lovely bay. We rented the building mostly because we wanted to soak in that outdoor hot tub. On arrival we discovered the tub was NOT hot. The heater had malfunctioned and we notified the host. We were advised to look for a switch that was supposed to be under the tub. We could not find the switch. We were sorely disappointed.
Absolutely loved our stay at the Fairyland Cottage. It was peaceful, picturesque, and immaculately clean. The provided firewood and fireplace starter made evenings extra cozy. Everything was smooth and effortless. We’d happily return.
Such a comfortable stay! Rachel was such a welcoming and friendly host. You cannot beat the location of this home. It's such a whimsical house with a more modern and cozy interior. I can't wait to come back!!
Without hyperbole, the most beautiful place I have ever stayed.Communication with the host Rachel wasn't great (didn't get check in instructions until 15 minutes before our booking was to begin, and the instructions asked us to give 30 minutes notice of arrival time) but Bruce, who met us at the home, was very kind and informative. The location is absolutely superb. Actual paradise. We loved it.
WOW!! If youre looking for a special place for a serene time theres nothing better than this fairytale cottage. We booked for 1 day as it was a new host and listing. Will be back for a much longer stay!

Thanks Minesh. You are most welcome to come back again staying as long as you want!
Upon arrival for our 3days/2 nights, my wife and I thought this would be one of the three best VRBO properties we had ever stayed at. Unfortunately, it was not ready to receive guests, and we chalk it up as our first disappointing VRBO experience.First of all, the location is incredible. The site is perched 20 feet above an inlet with no direct view of another house. From the nicely arranged exterior patios we saw sea lions, eagles, deer, kingfishers, and other wildlife daily. The moon reflecting off of the water was magical. Next, the house is amazing. As you can see from the pictures, outside it looks like a storybook cottage. Inside the fit and finish are high and it is well-equipped appliance-wise for such a compact footprint. 5 stars so far...The hot tub was not working upon arrival. With the manual, we were able to find the problem and turn it on, but it was unusable due to water quality. When we woke on our second day there was no running water. The host sent someone out to the site a few hours later, who determined that the water tank for the property was empty. It could not be filled during our visit. We were offered two gallons of bottled water and a refund on the second night of our stay, which we accepted, but we hadn't come ready to camp. There isn't space here for the other minor annoyances, so let me just say that maintenance would make this an incredible property...and if all else fails, you can use the hot tub water to flush the toilet.
From start to finish this place was amazing!Driveway is long and so cool! (I like driving so, I enjoyed it). The entire thing is paved as well!Instructions to find the cabin were super simple, there is another building/house on the property but you don't even notice it's there once you're at the cabin because the path is long enough away from it. The path is a little bit steep but not long. We had an overweight suitcase and it was not difficult to traverse it down. The whole path is paved as well! The cottage is so darn cute! Had everything we needed! Which... To be fair wasn't a lot lol.We stayed warm didn't even use the fireplace. They have a baseboard heater and portable electric heater which was enough. This was in June but it wasn't crazy warm outside, the cottage stayed nice throughout. The pictures show a washer and dryer. That is located in the main house. Other people stayed there so we didn't use, or need, all g!!Hot tub was amazing, power went out in the cabin once probably due to high wind which caused the hot tub power to trip. (I noticed before I purchased the rental, one of the reviews saying they couldn't find the button to the hot tub to turn it on) Hot tub is plugged into a power surge cord, the button does exist, follow the cord!Very peaceful mornings and evenings there on the Saanich Inlet. When the tide is really low you can see lots of sea stars and clams on the shore. Seen a couple sea otters!Me and my wife recommend and would go again!

The photos do not do the place justice. Whoever built the cottage was a true craftsman! Be aware it is about 200 steps and downhill the the place - not difficult but cannot have mobility issues. The house is super cute and the setting is beautiful. Location is 5 star. But the place was not clean - dried toothpaste on the faucet and in the toothbrush holder. Dirt around the sink and the toilet. There isn’t an oven but they do have an air fryer but is was so dirty we chose to eat out. And the fridge wasn’t clean and also contained a half a bottle of wine. Lastly there were no tea towels and the host asked us to go out and buy them and she would reimburse us. Summary - cutest place I’ve stayed at but the most disorganized and definitely not clean. Don’t know if the photos will show the dust and dirt
