About this property

Retro A-Frame Cabin minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and I-77 in Fancy Gap

Experience the timeless charm of a classic 1970s A-frame tucked into the mountains of Fancy Gap, Virginia. With soaring ceilings, warm wood interiors, and nostalgic cabin character, this cozy retreat offers the kind of stay many travelers have on their bucket list - a true A-frame getaway surrounded by fresh mountain air and endless scenic drives.

Located just moments from the Blue Ridge Parkway, it's the perfect home base for exploring overlooks, hiking trails, wineries, small mountain towns, and everything that makes this corner of Virginia so special. Spend your days out adventuring, then return to the cabin for a quiet evening on the screened porch as the sun sets through the trees.

Whether you're planning a romantic weekend, a small family getaway, or simply craving a slower pace, this mountain hideaway offers the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation.

Why Guests Love It:

The covered screened porch quickly becomes everyone's favorite spot. Start your morning with coffee and birdsong, spend the afternoon reading in the shade, and unwind in the evening with your favorite beverage while cool mountain breezes drift through the trees. Rain or shine, it's the perfect place to enjoy being outdoors.

Inside, the cabin embraces its original A-frame character with warm wood tones, vintage-inspired touches, and comfortable modern updates that make it easy to settle in and stay awhile.

Highlights:

- Classic 1970s A-frame architecture
- Covered screened porch for relaxing in any weather
- Minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway
- Ideal home base for hiking, scenic drives, wineries, and local attractions
- Record player, books, puzzles, and games for unplugged evenings
- Fast Starlink WiFi for streaming or remote work
- Dog-friendly (up to 2 dogs)
- Fully equipped kitchen and dining area
- Electric fireplaces for added ambiance

Sleeping Spaces:

After a day exploring the Parkway, settle into one of two inviting sleeping spaces designed for comfort and relaxation.

- Loft Bedroom | King Bed:
Perched beneath the dramatic A-frame roofline, the open loft is one of the cabin's most memorable features. A comfy king bed, warm bedside lighting, a Roku TV and blackout shades make you feel at home. Accessed by steep, ladder-style stairs with low railings, this space is best suited for adults and not recommended for children, pets, or guests with mobility concerns.

Main-Level Bedroom | Queen Bed:
- Located just off the living area, the main-floor bedroom offers a comfortable queen bed, electric fireplace, Roku TV, and direct access to both the bathroom and screened porch.

Full Bathroom:

The main-level en-suite bathroom (accessed via the queen bedroom) features a spacious custom walk-in shower with a rainfall showerhead (no tub), perfect after a day on the Parkway. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and fresh towels are provided.

Kitchen and Dining:

The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook and gather - from pots, pans, baking sheets, and utensils to dishes, glassware, and basic seasonings with cooking oils. Appliances include an oven, microwave, air fryer, crock pot, toaster, blender and both drip and pour-over coffee makers. The dining table seats four, with two additional stools at the counter for casual breakfasts and late night chats.

The Experience:

There's something special about staying in an A-frame. Maybe it's the iconic architecture, the cozy atmosphere, or the way it encourages you to slow down and appreciate simple moments. Spend your days cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway, discovering mountain towns, hiking nearby trails, or visiting local wineries. Then come home to the porch, put a record on, and enjoy the quiet rhythm of the mountains. Whether you're checking an A-frame stay off your travel bucket list or simply looking for a relaxing mountain escape, this cozy retreat offers a memorable place to call home for a few days.

Supplies:

Beds are made with hotel-quality linens, and a starter supply of paper towels, toilet paper, and basic cleaning essentials are provided - more than enough for a long weekend. The bathroom is stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap - the everyday comforts you’d expect. The kitchen includes ground and whole bean coffee, creamers, sugars, and staple seasonings and cooking oil. For longer stays, we recommend bringing any additional personal toiletries or extras you may need

OUTDOOR CAMERA: There is an outdoor camera facing the outside front entrance. It is on 24/7 and can record video and sound.

FYI/Important Details:

A-Frame Charm: Part of the charm of this home is its unique angles. Please be mindful of your head when getting in and out of bed or moving through a few cozy corners.

Loft Access: The upstairs loft is accessed by steep, ladder-style stairs with low railings. It is not recommended for children, pets, or those with mobility challenges.

Loft Temperature: Due to the A-frame design, the loft will be warm on sunny afternoons and a bit cooler on brisk mornings. It typically cools comfortably in the evenings, but guests who are especially heat-sensitive may prefer the main-level bedroom.

To quote my husband, “this is probably the best VRBO we’ve ever stayed in.” What a quaint cabin. Everything was lovely; the decor, the location, the cleanliness. One thing to note: the stairs to the loft are fairly steep.

We had a great time at this home. It was so cozy, clean, great location and had everything you could need. We are happy to share it with all of our friends and family. I loved all of the little mushroom decor scattered throughout the home. The host was very kind and friendly. Great recommendations on local things to do and places to eat.

We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing to consider is that, with 3 adults, the person who sleeps in the downstairs bedroom should be aware that the one bathroom is in their room. Otherwise it’s spotless and has a lot of wonderful character
