Our slice of heaven in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia! While the lovely cottage is only 700 sq. ft of gentle relaxation, our retreat sits within an acre of paradise to escape your stresses. Perfect for one couple or small family. The cottage is beautifully appointed and redone Spring 2020. The magic however is outside on the lake.

Beautiful new wood laminate floors. White shag rug in Master bedroom. Please leave outside shoes on the screened porch. Bring your slippers... and relax..

The renovated (May2020) open floor plan includes;
- A living room with a new sectional sofa, stunning white brick wood burning fireplace and 50" screen television.
- Dining area , Dine on the gorgeous new dining set while looking out the picture window facing the lake. table cloths, place mats and cloth napkins provided.
- A full kitchen, totally redone (Spring 2020), new white-cabinets, beautiful marble look granite counters, small refrigerator and fabulous new energy efficiency function washer/dryer with steam cycles. Every cooking tool for the foodies visiting!

Beautiful new wood laminate floors. ( NO SHOES INSIDE PLEASE)!

Master bedroom has Queen size comfy Brass bed with Laura Ashley comforter. Plush white shag rug surrounds your bed. Flat screen Television and beautiful antique dresser to compliment your luxurious vacation stay.

Second bedroom has a full size bed and twin bed with Nautical comforters. Flat screen television hosts a blast from the past with DVD player and VHS player and tons of movies to keep the kids busy on those rainy days.

Relax on the furnished screened porch or by the fire pit to watch the sunsets and enjoy the scenery. Massive yard overlooking your private dock and boat launch. Four bicycles and four - 10 ft. sit-in kayaks for additional fun! (Remember to wear your required life vest, provided) never drag kayaks on rocks or cement boat ramp.

Large collection of board games and movies to enjoy. Huge, brand new (May 2020), 24 x 24 private dock. YES!!!!!! On a beautiful cove with iron dining table for 4, lawn chairs, portable tables and umbrellas to enjoy your days relaxing. Personal private Fire Pit on site for our tenants own use.

Gravel driveway down to your own private boat ramp and large dock. Very close to Smith Mountain Lake State Park and Mariners Landing Golf Club. Situated within a cove, perfect place to learn paddle boarding and kayaking.
****GUESTS TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN LINENS, SLIPPERS AND BIKE HELMETS

Items to bring: Linens (towels, wash cloths, sheets, pillow cases) trash bags, paper goods (toilet tissue, paper towels), K-cups, detergent (dish & laundry) slippers, flip flops, water shoes and flashlight.

This will be your own private paradise. We just ask that you treat it kindly and gently, leave it as you found it and offer any suggestions for improvements.

Great Lake access and perfect home to enjoy it

It was a great time with our fur babies. We loved the dock and for easy entry (the fur kids could easily get out if the boat ramp or the grassy area)Also loved the screened in porch we ate dinners there every night. The proximity to the state park was also a plus and the neighborhood is quiet and seems to be off the beaten path. It’s a wide cove with deep water, but not super busy, which was great. Overall, it was a perfect first visit to the area we would like to return.

Quiet Oasis

This is the second time we've stayed at the Nautical Nook. We really appreciate the quiet location, the screened-in patio, well-kept lawn and dock area. It's a comfortable home and great place to relax for a few days.

We had so much fun at nautical nook! Dock was fabulous and the on property boat launch was so convenient since we brought our boat with us. Nice yard with a fire pit. Screened in porch was great to enjoy meals outside without dealing bugs. This property also has weekly trash pick up (not all SML rentals offer this service) which is awesome!! Would definitely stay again!!

The lake was awesome. Rented a boat and used the rental dock. Owners were kind enough to allow us to stay an extra day. Deer are everywhere! Only negatives were no dishwasher, bathroom sink drained slow.

Easy to rent through VRBO, matched exactly the online listing, but even better in person- awesome dock for gettin sun or chillin under the sun shades. The Nautical Nook is very special. It is a quaint house very close to the water. The swimming area is for all ages and the dock was wonderful to sit and relax on. We also enjoyed having our morning coffee on the screened in porch - it’s a great feature. The house was very clean and met all of our needs. Thank you so much for letting our dog vacation with us. We had an absolutely amazing stay at this beautiful cottage on the lake! The location is incredibly peaceful and scenic, offering stunning views right from the porch and dock. We are back!

This is our second time we stayed at Robert and Donna’s and it was even better than before. The cove, the dock, the cottage, the sunsets. All in one place. Our pup enjoyed paddle boarding with me and she couldn’t be happier (quiet cove, no waves). The cottage has all you need and the screened porch is a perfect hideaway if you get the rainy day. Location, location, location

Just like last year we enjoyed our stay at the Nautical Nook. The location on a quiet finger of Craddock Creek is perfect for water activities and swimming with children. The cleaning crew will have to step up their game; we found old food in the oven, fridge, and clothes in the dryer. The dock will also need some work. The cleats are loose and some the boards are splintered. Robert and Donna, thank you again for sharing your lovely vacation home with us!

Nautical Nook

This is the second time my husband , dog and I stayed at Nautical Nook and it was equally as wonderful . We love the property- nice flat lawn close to the dock and lake ! We especially love the dock with its ample furnishings and potted flowers as well as the screened in porch ! The house was very clean and has basically everything you need for a stay at the lake . We had a small problem with the dryer during our stay - Donna and Robert got back to us almost immediately . Although it could not be repaired right away due to the need for a new part - they were extremely responsive and kept us informed about what was going on . Would highly recommend this property!

Great family vacation

Me and my family had a wonderful vacation along with my little dog who loved the yard. The house is listed as is small but very cozy. Had everything we needed and more, the dock and the water around it was amazing. Had I known we would've only rented a boat for 1 day, as this property has everything you would need and more. I would definitely stay again. And would stay longer. The water next to the dock is shallow and it gets deeper. Which is just perfect if you want to go out. Sllow It was quiet and the wildlife was amazing. I nearly had a deer eating out of my hand I would highly recommend this house to anyone I will definitely stay again . The owners were wonderful. Quick response to any questions we had. Definitely. Stay at this house if you have a small family, it will be wonderful.

Amazing location

We couldn’t be more happier! Robert and Donna’s lake cottage welcomed us with open arms. We picked this location not only because it is lake front but also because our fur child was able to come with us. We always look for rentals with dog friendly and easy access to water. This property gives you a boat ramp and a shoreline where your pooch can access the water without hassle. The cottage was very clean with well stocked kitchen. The cove - breath taking. So peaceful and quiet. For most time, we hang out on the dock, fish, swim and kayak. This is the place if you want to get away from your busy life. Robert was very responsive to all our questions. We miss Nautical Nook already but we will be back! Thank you, Robert and Donna for sharing your slice of paradise with us. Cheers!

Special anniversary getaway

We chose Nautical Nook for a short getaway to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. This property exceeded our expectations! It was cozy, very clean and well supplied. (even included travel soaps in the bathroom vanity) The kitchen well outfitted with everything needed (great coffee maker!). The screen porch is comfortable and even had string lighting to create a warm mood at night. The best part is the new dock.. large and comfortable with plenty of seating as well as a storage box with some water floats, etc. The location is on a quieter cove, great for hanging out, swimming, or paddling around in 1 of the 4 provided kayaks. The dock also has solar lighting which was excellent for enjoying the sunsets and cool evenings. Robert and Donna were vey responsive to our questions, even offering to resolve a small issue immediately. And the complimentary bottle of wine was icing on the cake! We hope to return and enjoy Nautical Nook again!

Slice of heaven at Smith Mt. Lake

This waterfront home has a large, gently sloping lot down to the water with large private dock, fully furnished with table w/umbrella and chairs along with nice lounger chairs and a love seat and coffee table. So nice! Beautifully landscaped to boot, including the dock!. 4 kayaks and life jackets were such a plus!!!! We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the lake a bit! Bicycles are included as well. The large private cove offers perfect location for kayaking, fishing and swimming. and just sitting on the dock! The large lot was perfect for our dog who slept very well after full days on and in the lake! The home was perfect for our needs and so nicely appointed! 2 bedrooms, so it's not huge, but very comfortable and nicely decorated. The front screened in porch was wonderful and we enjoyed watching skiiers, tubers and boats go by, while watching the birds, including hummingbirds. We couldn't be happier with our get away to A Nautical Nook and we look forward to returning!

Fabulous lake property Accurate description of the house, very small but perfect for a couple or small family. The screened in porch was fantastic and the view was beautiful . The cottage was perfect for our small family. We spent hours on the new dock. We enjoyed swimming and kayaking in the quiet cove. Ideal location for those who like peaceful settings. There was a nearby marina from which we rented a boat and were able to dock at the cottage. Hosts were very attentive.
