Moonlight Cottage!
Located in the fishing village of Tenants Harbor, Maine, this charming “real Maine cottage” is just steps away from the water's edge and your private beach. This picturesque oceanfront cottage has two bedrooms, one full bathroom, and an open-concept floor plan to comfortably sleep four people.
Upon arrival, you step up onto an oceanfront deck equipped with a propane grill, four rocking chairs, and an umbrella dining table with seating for four, perfect for enjoying the view or enjoying a lobster feast. The private beach shore is only steps away for sunbathing, picnicking, and viewing the working lobster boats coming in from haul, sailboats, and pleasure yachts blending in the harbor. Off the deck, you are only a few steps and a short grassy walk to a fire pit with four Adirondack chairs, perfect for an evening listening to the sounds of the ocean with a glass of wine while reflecting on your day of exploring.
Warm and inviting, this cottage is furnished with all the modern touches; you’ll have that feeling of getting away from it all without giving up any comforts of home. The nicely equipped kitchen has a table to seat four by the window overlooking the water. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy your morning coffee or play a game of cards. In the living room area, is a couch, two armchairs, two end tables, a rocking chair, and a flat-screen television with cable and a DVD/Blu-ray combo, and is complete with a wood burning fireplace for those chilly Maine evenings. Off the living room is one full bath with a shower only. To the left is a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and the second bedroom to the right has two twin beds, one of them being a trundle at floor level. In the second bedroom is a stackable washer and dryer, ironing board and iron, a hamper, and laundry supplies.
For your convenience, we have provided initial supplies of the following: linens, bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, and beach towels. Your first tank of propane for the gas grill, wood for the fireplace and fire pit, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, cable, wireless internet, and a home phone are all complimentary. We make every effort to assure the accuracy of this listing, and the condition of equipment and quality of provided services. We make no implied guarantee of connectivity for wireless internet or services provided by a third party. However, we will do everything in our power to remedy any situation as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your understanding.
Area Amenities: The Tenants Harbor General Store, is open daily, specializing in morning coffee and pastries, corn, blueberries, native lobsters, fresh-cut meats, firewood, and all grocery supplies. It is only a 10-minute walk, or bring your bike for riding the winding roads for the scenic ocean and island views. This is a pleasantly old and proud Maine community with its own library, school, and fire/rescue department. Knox County Sheriff's Office provides policing services. One-third of all Maine lobsters come from this county, named for General Henry Knox, George Washington's chief artillery officer in the Revolutionary War of 1776. You can learn about him on the peninsula, as well as enjoy programs offered all seasons at Montpelier, the Knox Mansion Museum, located just another few minutes in the nearby coastal town of Thomaston.
Heading another 10 minutes down the St. George peninsula is Port Clyde, another fishing village. You will enjoy beautiful ocean views while enjoying an incredible meal on the wharf and delicious ice cream for dessert from the local ice cream shop. In the heart of Port Clyde, you will find adventure waiting for you. Whether it's visiting a local art gallery, enjoying a day on the ocean with the Wyeth by Water Lobster Boat tours, or the Monhegan Island ferry adventures to see Maine seabirds, including puffins and American bald eagles, spending the day at the local Drift-Inn beach or a picnic at Marshall Point Lighthouse; St. George has something for everyone.
Here are some things you should know about visiting Maine:
Cell phones: Although coverage is getting better, there are some places where cell phones don't have good reception. Chances are you will have service, but just in case, make sure you leave the number of the house you are renting with those who may need to get in touch with you. Coverage with AT&T can be spotty in many areas of Maine.
Weather: If you have heard it once, you've heard it a hundred times: if you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute. It can be hot in Rockland and cool in Port Clyde so make sure to pack a variety of clothes — from a bathing suit for hot days to a sweater for cool evenings. Check out the current local weather at www.weather.com.
Bugs: A lot of people ask us if we have mosquitoes...we sure do. But they aren't huge and they don't ruin a vacation. Bring some repellent, or pick some up at the local general stores and you will be fine; usually, you won't even notice them.
Dogs: We love dogs around here, but each town has its own rules about pets. Make sure to look for signs stating if dogs are allowed and always have them on a leash. If they leave behind anything, please pick it up, it's not a fun surprise when you are exploring the beautiful shoreline. You can also be fined for not picking up after your four-legged friend. Unwanted animals: You probably have them too, but raccoons and skunks can make you regret last night's lobster dinner. No one wants to pick up old, smelly shells that have been cast out onto the lawn by these cute, but curious and disastrously messy, little guys. So please don't put off placing the trash in the secure trashcans provided.
Water: Moonlight Cottage is not on public water supply. It has a well, with a water filtration system, and is tested regularly once a year.
Moonlight Cottage is a Saturday to Saturday rental year-round! This home comfortably sleeps 4 people/ max 2 adults.

This is a beautiful property with so many areas to enjoy the weather. We loved watching the lobster boats and wildlife. The evenings were spent drinking coctails beside the firepit. A great place to spend a week in the heat of the summer.

The Moonlight Cottage, situated on a working harbor with an amazing view of Southern Island and the Gulf of Maine, is the quintessential Maine cottage. The kitchen is quite well equipped, there is easy access to the water for kayaking (rentals from Port Clyde Kayaks) and the cottage location, in Tenants Harbor, allows easy access to hiking and fantastic restaurants in nearby Rockland, Rockport and Camden.

Thomaston is quiet and beautiful. Close to Port Clyde and Rockland. Good lighthouses to visit near both spots. The Happy Clam restaurant in St. George has good food but pricey. McCloons in S. Thomaston is the place to go for great lobsters/lobster rolls. Camden Maine is not too far. The house on Barter Rd. is comfortable but very small; OK for two with well equipped kitchen. Rent is too high.

The location is amazing. Tenant’s harbor is my favorite area in mid coast and then this cottage could not be better located. Had kayak delivered by Port Clyde Kayak (great place) and paddled daily right from outside the cottage. Easy walk to General store and Happy Claim (another great place). The cottage is lovely and well stocked kitchen for all cooking equipment ( bring your own coffee though). Bed very comfortable. FYI there are not ceilings in bedroom which I loved looking up at rafters however.

We really enjoyed our stay - very cozy cottage, great location, fantastic views! We had one very rainy, chilly day which was not a negative - gave us the opportunity to chill, read, and enjoy a fire in the fireplace.

Sitting at the firepit outside, directly on the rocky beach and the Atlantic Ocean was magical ! We had a relaxing, enjoyable stay in this classic cottage. The location is unparalleled and the cottage immaculate. Our dog was in in heaven running on the rocks and beach all week. We look forward to our next stay at Moonlight Cottage!.
