About this property

Cacapon Riverside Getaway

Cabin on Cacapon River is a quirky little cabin situated right on the Cacapon River! Located in the eastern panhandle of WV, the many windows offer awesome views of the river and mountain ridges. With 500 feet of riverfrontage on the property, there's plenty of space to paddle, swim, or relax on the bank. It is secluded and quiet. Only 25 minutes away from downtown Berkeley Springs, where you'll find hiking, fishing, shopping, dining, spas, antiquing, and state parks all nearby.

This is a small cabin where you can have a lot of fun with family and friends. There is a closed door between the living room, where the couch is a Full bed, an air mattress is a Queen, and the futon chair, twin to the kitchen, into the master. Listing says sleeps 5, but this would be cramped. Comfortable with two to four adults.

The property is 5 acres. You can see the clearing by the cabin, but if you're up for a challenging hike, you can hike up the mountain behind. You'll come to a large clearing with a horse barn and a road behind that. That's the end of the property. If you want to bring a dog to run and play up there, you can also drive or walk up Skyview, a gravel road. Come out of the cabin and make a left. You'll see Skyview on your right; take that to the top.

Firewood is not included; there is a $20 per day fee to use the firewood onsite; this is paid to me via VM

River access is explicitly - at your own risk.

This is the wild, in the spring, summer, and early fall, use your outdoor brain, there can be snakes around. Mostly harmless black snakes, but there have been Eastern rattlesnakes out there; they will let you know, or run away. But neither is often seen.

Two kayaks available for additional rent; must sign liability waiver prior to receiving lock code.

Guest Expectations

This is a remote mountain cabin in a natural setting. Bugs, leaves, and wildlife are part of the environment — if you’re looking for a sterile hotel-like experience, this may not be the right fit.

Pets and service animals must not be left unattended unless cleared with us in advance.

We had a great time unwinding away from the daily grind at Jon's cabin on the river. From relaxing at the sitting area by the river casting a line, to the fire pit under the canopy of trees, you truly get to relax and enjoy nature here. The cabin itself was well stocked, clean, and very comfortable. We can't wait for the next trip!

The photos don’t do this place justice. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, you’ll definitely find it here. I worked remotely during our stay, and the dining table was the perfect workspace. It overlooked the water, so I could work while watching my son fish all day.As someone who enjoys cooking, I always pay attention to how well a rental kitchen is stocked, and I usually keep my expectations low. This kitchen exceeded them. Leave your spices at home—they’ve thought of everything. There were quality pots and pans, decent knives, and all the essentials I needed to prepare meals comfortably. The bed was very comfortable, and one of my favorite parts of the stay was sleeping with the windows open, listening to the frogs at night. It was incredibly peaceful and made for a truly relaxing getaway. We’d happily stay here again.

Loved staying here, with the river right there, it was so relaxing sitting on back deck or in chairs right by river. getting into the river was a little challenging because of the uneven rock steps but once in the river it was so refreshing. The furniture was functional but I prefer something with a higher back to relax in. I'd stay again though, cause it was away from the hustle bustle of town. Fireflies at night were awesome.

Thank you for your feedback and for choosing our cabin. We’re happy you enjoyed your stay overall. As a natural riverfront property, the shoreline changes with seasonal flooding, making permanent river access impossible to maintain, which is why our listing clearly notes that river entry is at guests’ own risk. We also understand that furniture comfort is a matter of personal preference, and we appreciate hearing different perspectives. We’re proud that so many guests have loved the peaceful setting and river experience, and we’ll continue working to provide the best stay possible.
