Ursa Minor is a striking four bedroom home at Methow Ranch, just outside Mazama. Built with cross-laminated timber panels, the single-level design features solid wood walls and ceilings throughout, creating a warm and contemporary atmosphere.
The layout offers two private bedroom wings connected by a spacious central living, dining, and kitchen area. The main living space includes a generous sofa set around the fireplace, a large dining table, and a high-spec kitchen.

- Primary suite with California king bed and ensuite bath, twin sinks, soaking tub, and walk-in shower
- Second king bedroom with ensuite bathroom
- Butler’s pantry, office, and laundry room
The guest wing includes:

- Shared bathroom with access from both the bunk room and the connecting corridor
Outdoors, a large patio looks across open meadows toward Goat Peak and is furnished with a gas grill and outdoor seating.
With space for ten guests, Ursa Minor is one of the finest modern rentals in the Mazama area. Conveniently located just off Highway 20, it offers easy access to Mazama, Winthrop, and nearby trails for Nordic skiing, hiking, and year-round recreation. The Methow Community Trail can be reached from the end of Methow Ranch Road, just yards from the house, providing excellent Nordic skiing in winter and mountain biking or hiking in other seasons. This trail connects to both Mazama and Winthrop as well as the extensive Methow Trails system.
The Neighborhood:
Ursa Minor is part of a dispersed neighborhood of well-spaced homes set among the pines 3.5 miles from Mazama village. From here you’ll find easy access to the Methow Trails system for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. Mazama offers a well-stocked store and bakery, the Goat’s Beard outdoor shop (with bike rentals), and Mazama Ski School for ski rentals and lessons. The Mazama Public House is a popular stop for food and drinks.
North Cascades National Park
Mazama is also well placed for exploring the North Cascades. Trailheads for many of the Park’s best hikes are a short drive away: about 25 minutes to Cutthroat Lake, 30 minutes to Washington Pass, and 35 minutes to Maple Pass. Staying here makes it easier to beat the crowds and find parking during peak seasons.
Getting Around:
Getting Here: From May to November, the most direct route from Seattle and the west side is via State Route 20 over Washington Pass (check WSDOT for seasonal closures). In winter, alternate routes are via I-90 and Snoqualmie Pass with Blewett Pass, or via Highway 2 over Stevens Pass. Together these form the scenic Cascade Loop. Major airports include Spokane International (180 miles, year-round) and Seattle-Tacoma International (190 miles in summer / 260 miles in winter). Regional flights are also available at Pangborn Memorial Airport in Wenatchee (102 miles).
Getting Around: The Mazama Store is 3.5 miles away, and Winthrop is 12.5 miles (under 20 minutes by car).

Guests of Ursa Minor may use The Inn at Mazama outdoor pool (open Memorial Day through Labor Day) and tennis/pickleball court at 15 Country Road, Mazama. The cost is $10 per guest per day. Please check in at the Inn front desk before heading to the pool.
