Wilderness Cabin With Deer Season Access, Underground Home on Private 225 Acres
Experience true deep woods isolation while staying in a remarkably unique underground home. This is the perfect retreat for guests looking to relax, unplug, and immerse themselves in untouched wilderness with virtually no human activity.
Nestled in the foothills of the St. Francis Mountains of the Missouri Ozarks, this private 225 acre property is bordered on three sides by thousands of acres of Mark Twain National Forest. Built directly into the hillside, the home’s cave like entrance immediately sets the tone for this one of a kind stay.
The air here is exceptionally clean, with crystal clear springs and creeks running year round. With no light pollution, the night sky reveals an incredible display of stars, and after dark, the woods come alive with the sounds of coyotes, owls, night birds all without traffic, neighbors, or modern noise. Deeper in the valley, the terrain narrows into a scenic shut ins area with rock outcroppings and a flowing creek, and a natural cave spring is accessible by a nature walk from the house. Guests are free to explore the entire property.
Historical artifacts decorate the property. Along the hillside sits a full size Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe railroad caboose, originally built in the 1920s, currently being restored as a future living space.
The home comfortably sleeps seven guests across three bedrooms. The master bedroom features a queen-size mattress, while the two additional bedrooms each include a full size bed with beautifully preserved antique furniture. A twin roll away bed is also available
A Weber grill is available for guest use.
Firearms Deer Season:
During Missouri's firearms deer season (November 14–24, 2026), hunters are welcome to stay at the property.
The underground home is less than a five-minute walk from the boundary of Mark Twain National Forest, providing convenient access to thousands of acres of public land where hunting is permitted in accordance with Missouri regulations and all applicable laws.
Guests wishing to hunt on the private 225-acre property must obtain prior approval before booking, as hunting on the property is not automatically included with a reservation.
