K'GARI (FRASER ISLAND), The Taxi House. Sleeps 9 people. situated in Eurong

K'gari (Fraser Island) is accessible by 4WD only and a Vehicle Access Permit will be required from QPWS BEFORE arriving on the island. You need a 4WD to access the island and onto the barges, so you won't be able to stay at The Taxi House unless you have a 4WD

FRASER ISLAND

All roads on K'Gari (Fraser Island) are sand roads as well as driving along the beach so you will require a 4WD to board the barge before even arriving to the island.

Eurong is central (and not tide relevant) to a number of the most beautiful lakes (eg Lake McKenzie, Lake Birrabeen, Lake Boomanjin, Lake Wabby), lush rainforests (eg Central Station) and pure crystal clear creeks (eg palm and fern lined Central Station (Wanggoolba Creek), and the numerous bushwalking trails.
You can enjoy the beauty of the island ranging from desert-like sandblows, unique and awe-inspiring lakes, exploring the many scenic drives on the island, 4WD adventures, and along the eastern beach some attractions are Eli Creek, the shipwreck of the Maheno, Indian Head and Champagne Pools, the coloured sands and all the way to the lighthouse at the far northern tip of the island. During your stay you may get to experience and see some of the wonderful wildlife on the island including turtles, whales, dolphins, stingrays, sharks, dingoes (said to be Australia's purest), and the wonderful birdlife.

*We, Steve and Lisa, live in a small cottage at the back of the property, with a separate entrance and do not share any of the house facilities. We will always be happy to share our extensive knowledge of the island with you!

The Taxi House was amazing!!! The house is large enough for a couple of families or a group like we had. Plenty of bedrooms with the 2 sleepouts. Nice sized kitchen & being in Eurong 2nd valley, it was super close to the resort for food options if/when required & is also close to the access for the inland tracks. The house was clea & tidy. The area is very quiet so great to sit back & relax. Easy walk to the beach for fishing.

Steve and I, Lisa, moved to live on Fraser Island in 2005 when we bought the only taxi on the island "Fraser Island Taxi Service". This is where our house has been lovingly given its nickname.
I have been visiting the island for my holidays since the late 1960's and it was like ''çoming home" to my island paradise when we moved here. We continue to enjoy living, working, playing, exploring, fishing, swimming, 4WDing, beachcombing, stargazing, on our beautiful K'gari.
We would love to share it with you - it's worth boasting about!

Why they chose this property

We love our quaint little beach house. We have enjoyed sharing our little piece of paradise with so many holiday makers over the last 13 years and we would like to share it with you too. The Taxi House being situated in Eurong is central to all the inland areas without having to worry about the tides like you would, if you were driving along the beach. You can make the most of your holiday - inland driving when it is high tide to visit rainforests, lakes etc inland and explore the treasures along the beach, Eli Ck, Maheno Shipwreck, Coloured Sands, Indian Head, Champagne Pools when the tides allow.

What makes this property unique

The Taxi House, is your typical little beach house. It has a peaceful and quiet atmosphere overlooking bush and the back of sand dunes. Eurong Second Valley, unlike the main area of Eurong (where the resort is located), our township doesn't have the main traffic congestion and is cut off to the bus loads of tourists and is more secluded and quite with only local holiday makers and just a few residents.
