About the host
Hosted by Catherine
We built Villa Les Ensemberts when our twin sons (now 35) were born.
Emmanuel is a cartoon animator working for various animation studios across the world.
Jonathan, an IT engineer, works for various start-up companies.
I lost my husband in February 2012.
After a career in higher education I now teach French to the refugees in Paris as well as organize "conversation tables" in French for foreign residents in Paris. This is volunteer work.

Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Ile de Ré in the summer of 1989, our twins' first summer. Two years later we managed to buy one of the last seafront plots of land on the island. We had villa Les Ensemberts built in 1991, with my husband designing it and I in charge of interior decoration.
The villa has been the family's summer place ever since and is constantly being refurbished, repainted and maintained in a perfect state, a challenge for this beachfront villa that was severely battered by the Xynthia storm in February 2010 and continues to be hit by storms every year.
You will love the smell of the sea and light breeze every morning when you open the shutters of Villa Les Ensemberts!

What makes this property unique
Villa Les Ensemberts is literally on the beach /cliff, the views, sunsets, are fantastic. The heated swimming pool is a delight.
The location on the Southern coast means it is protected from the winds.
The secluded spot allows complete privacy.
AN ISLAND OF FOUR SEASONS
In September the tide continues to rise and ebb twice a day. Those who have the bright idea to visit out of the season never regret their decision: island life goes on with shops and services remaining open all year round. In autumn, visitors can admire golden sun-drenched vineyards and witness the grape harvest first-hand. In winter, the beaches empty to make way for horses and walkers wrapped up warmly against the wind.At Christmas, the oysters taste even better when they come directly from the nearby oyster beds. In spring the air is still cool when the first chairs reappear outside the cafés.
