This is a nice single room with ocean view balcony and private bathroom. The host was so sweet and a pleasure to be around. I wish I could have stayed longer. Good people and a great location with a view. I can’t wait to come back!

While the unit's size met our needs for a one-night stay, we experienced several significant issues with comfort and security.Comfort: The unit was very hot. It had a sliding glass door, two windows, and a ceiling fan. The ceiling fan only operated on low speed and one of the windows lacked a screen so it had to stay closed otherwise mosquitoes would come in. The sliding glass door also lacked a screen door so it had to be kept closed to keep the bugs out. Keeping that door and one window closed made the temperature in the room unbearable.Security: Security was a major concern. The interior door to the main house had a double-deadbolt and knob. We could only lock the knob from inside the room and weren't provided a key for either locks so could not lock the door when we weren't there. There was also a large accordion door on the adjacent wall to the main house living room that wasn't secure. The exterior sliding glass door to the back lanai was also unable to be locked due to issues with the framing. We weren't provide a key for that either. The space has potential, but the host needs to install proper screens, fix the fan, and ensure that all doors to the rental securely lock for guest safety.Unfortunately, due to the all the circumstances, we ended up leaving the unit and staying at a hotel. Understandably, Kona is generally hot but the fact that we could not secure the unit while there or not made it unsuitable for us.

I'm sorry you weren't comfortable. If you had messaged me I could've given you an ac unit even though the unit and amenities or lack of was clearly depicted for what it was. As far as security, if you were so concerned you would have used the safety bar to secure the sliding glass door. Like many others locally, I live in a house that is not maintained by its owners. I live here with my two children and are always safe. I am single mother in fact, and I don't receive any support from the father or any family, just barely getting by financially. I haven't been paid for anything yet as bro doesn't pay for 30 days in beginning of hosting. You definitely could have taken this up with Vrbo directly and ask for refund rather than posting an ill review.
