A hop, skip and a jump from Italy's most famous fountain, the Casa trevi garden is a treasure. Find yourself in an astonishingly peaceful courtyard, all alive trees, scented oranges and a fountain inhabited by small turtles. Though you're in Rome's most vibrant heart, not a sound penetrates from outside. The apartments are on the ground floor of one of old buildings (maroniti convent) and open directly off the courtyard. Interiors are bright, soothing and minimalist in the most beautiful way: white walls and terracotta, glass shelving and concealed lighting. A mix of modern and brocante finds. Hobs and fridges are provided in airy, white kitchen. Shower room is gorgeous.
On three sides are 17th century buildings in yellows, ochers and reds; on the fourth, a modern glass building reflects the sun on the courtyard.
