Easy to find following detailed instructions from owner. Easy to check-in. Property contained everything we needed and more. Very happy with it all. Owner informative about the area and even showed us around the farm to meet the horses. We really enjoyed our stay!
Perfect for our short stay. Stunning views. Beautifully clean and well appointed. Very convenient for Bakewell and Chatsworth. Notes in the cottage about eating places very helpful.
Had a wonderful week's holiday with the family. The cottage was spotless and beautifully decorated. Stunning views overlooking fields. A lovely welcome pack on our arrival. Many thanks Deb amd Matt. A great base to discover the Peaks. The cottage was an easy drive to Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Buxton and Abbeydal Industrial hamler whichbare all worth visiting. Derwent Valley and Dovedale forceonderful walks and even eent kaysking at Carsington Reservoir which was wonderful. We strongly recommend thus cottage . Thanks so much Matt and Deb.
Idyllic cottage in a fantastic location with lovely owners
The cottage is located half a mile from the local pub and church in an amazing rural area. The building is amazing and the furnishings are very high quality. The grounds it sits in are very attractive with a lawn at the front leading to the fields with the very friendly horses and foals.
The owners, Matt and Deb, are extremely friendly and helpful. They have provided every home comfort you could want - and all of very high quality. We had a young child with us and they took time out of their very busy day looking after the horses to show us around the stables and to meet the horses.
The location of the cottage is a 10 minute drive to the supermarkets (Sainsburys, Morrisons, Aldi, Asda…), a 2 minute drive to eateries with plenty of good pubs in either direction, and lots of numerous walks or drives through the countryside whichever direction you take off in. Bakewell, Chatsworth, Lumsdale Falls, Matlock (Baths), Heights of Abraham etc. are all very easy to get to from the cottage.
We spent a week at the cottage and had one of the best holidays we have ever had. The cottage, the views form the cottage, Matt and Deb, their horses and ducks will make sure you have a great time.
A lovely picturesque cottage with the added bonus of very friendly and helpful hosts. A great place to stay with lots to see and do in reach. Strongly recommended, already booked again.
Very clean, very comfortable beds, lovely well provisioned cottage. Conveniently located for touring round Peak District. Owners Matt and Deb are very friendly and helpful. Recommended.
Lovely positioning to explore the Peak District and warm owners.

Lovely stay.
Just enjoyed a lovely weekend at Twiggy's Cottage.
The cottage lacked for nothing....perfect for two couples.
Kitchen/dining/lounge area spacious yet cosy.
Both en-suite bedrooms very comfortable.
Matt was a great host.
Ample parking.
Excellent value for money.
Lovely views across the fields.
Near a road but this was no problem at all.
Ten minute drive to Chatsworth Estate.
We would not hesitate in recommending Twiggy's Cottage.
We will return for sure.

Brilliant. Exceeded expectations
This place is absolutely lovely with lots of nice little touches which make it very special. The views were fab - we arrived in the dark which was magical anyway and had to wait until the following early evening to truly appreciate it. Will be going back for sure.

Not up to expectations
First off I have to sat that Matt and his wife are lovely people.
The house was not quite how it sounds. It is on a main road that can be heard and headlights light up both bedrooms, wardroom space is at a premium, lighting is very poor and there are not any useable mirrors or power points where they could be useful.
Both bathrooms are tiny, badly lit and one tiny shelf in each on which to put things.
The lounge area is ok, the sofas are a little tired ie the foam cushions gave up some time ago which means that they are not very comfortable and again the lighting is poor. I had hoped to spend evenings playing catch up with my reading - nope! The log burner is fairly basic with its controls meaning that it eats logs.
The kitchen is a little odd. It has fitments that would have been quite expensive but is fitted out with basic things - cheap, blunt kitchen knives, non stick pans that gave up the ghost some time ago - in sharp contrast to some rather nice crockery. I did really love the hob, boy is it big and efficient.
The property is next door to the owners magnificent period farmhouse and what you see in the picture at the front of the property is what amounts to a car park for you , the owners and the owners guests.
In short. Is it a country style property? No. Yes the views are good on a clear day but you are in the Pennine foothills surrounded by moorland and adjacent to ex coal mining South Yorkshire. The local pub,The Angel, says all about that - sea bass fillets with an onion bhurji !!!
Would we come here again? No, There are much better properties to be found in Derbyshire proper.
Sorry Matt.

Lovely stay at Twiggy's Cottage Holmsfield.
We had a lovely 8 nights stay at Twiggy's Cottage in November and were lucky with the weather. It was dark when we arrived so couldn't see the views but when we woke up next morning and opened the bedroom curtains we both said WOW what amazing views. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped with comfortable beds. Lots of places to visit without having to drive too far. There's a very good choice of places to eat and we enjoyed trying quite a few of them. There's are supermarkets not far away and the marvellous Chatsworth Farm Shop nearby when we wanted to eat in at night. We both went home feeling happy and relaxed and would not hesitate to return.

Brilliant Stay
Twiggy's cottage gets top marks as far as we are concerned. Since retiring we have become seasoned travellers in the UK and abroad and as such have experienced some wonderful stays. Twiggy's is in our top 3. It has everything we wanted:
Great location with easy access to the Peaks and Sheffield;
Super walking without having to get in the car;
Good pubs in the village, easily walkable;
The cottage had everything we needed; beautifully clean, well equipped, comfortable furniture and beds, great views.
Don't let the proximity to the road put you off, we heard virtually nothing.
Fantastic hosts, Matt and Debs are a lovely couple who are happy to engage with you if you want to, otherwise let you get on with it.
And the icing on the cake was the weather. We couldn't have asked for more from a holiday.
We will be back, without a doubt.

Wonderful stay in a gorgeous cottage
We came here for a week at the beginning of February with our 2 daughters (9 and 3). From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. With all the little bits of food stuff that had been provided (Fresh bread, butter, jam, milk, crisps) and a well stocked kitchen - including tea and coffee and laundry detergent. It really helped us to get settled in after a long flight from Toronto.
The cottage was immaculate and even nicer than the photos show. The beds were extremely comfortable and the cottage was nice and warm.
The little touches such as a well stocked book selection (Including a number of cook books) and DVD's to watch really helped. The views were spectacular and seeing the horses bounding across the field was wonderful to see.
Our daughters asked if we could live there forever so it got the seal of approval for them as well.
When we next come to visit family and friends in Sheffield we will undoubtedly book Twiggy's cottage again.

Lovely cottage, spacious and high finish
We have stayed here twice: that is how good it is. We have stayed in other peak cottages and none have the quality feel like Twiggy’s Cottage. We thoroughly recommend it.

Beautiful location, friendly & welcoming owners, appointed to high standard
Stayed for our first wedding anniversary and really enjoyed it - very romantic setting with lovely log fire - perfect for the winters evenings - we even had snow! Property lived up to description and did not disappoint at all. Welcomed by owners once arrived who were friendly and helpful but in no way intrusive. Furnishings and decor beautiful and high end. Great location for exploring area and local facilities. Would recommend and stay again.

A beautiful property in a very good location and with great views.
We had a lovely relaxing break in Twiggy's Cottage which has excellent facilities and was very homely. The property is furnished to a high specification and is very well equipped. The views are superb and to see the owners horses galloping in the fields was a lovely sight and an added bonus. The close proximity to the many places of interest in the Peak District was another bonus and we were able to visit Chatsworth House, Castleton, Hathersage and Bakewell which can all be reached within 20 minutes. An added bonus was the Angel pub in nearby Holmesfield where the food and drink was superb. A truly enjoyable break.

Thank you for your review. It is our normal policy to offer freshly laundered bedding and towels during a fortnight stay, however with my wife, Deb, in Nottingham QMC major trauma unit with a smashed pelvis and then her being discharged home on a stretcher during your stay, and thus me having to care for her, I am afraid I must sincerely apologise that you did not receive your bedding and towels as it simply slipped my mind given the aforementioned predicament I found myself in. Once again, my sincere apologies and I am pleased to say that Deb is on the mend and our normal high standard of service has resumed.
