This beautiful villa with pool sits on a quiet terraced hillside acre with a lovely established garden and 60+ olive trees. It sits in the heart of rose country and overlooks Callas, a charming village just a walk away with shops including an award-winning patisserie/bakery, grocery store, olive mill and shop, post office, restaurants, a great weekly market, and services. Walk for your morning croissants, fresh fruit and cheese or evening meal!

Comfortably furnished with plenty of local antiques and art, this classic provencal villa offers many outdoor and indoor living spaces in which to relax and enjoy your holiday. One hour drive from the Nice and Toulon international airports and the train station at Aix-en-Provence, and only 15 minutes’ drive from the A8 motorway. Avignon and Marseilles are approximately one and a quarter hours away.

There is lots to do for every taste. Food and wine lovers will enjoy visiting the many nearby restaurants (from simple fare to Michelin-starred), vineyards and lively markets including the fabulous Sunday market at Le Muy. Outdoors enthusiasts will love the many nature hikes, biking, golf, Lower Alps skiing; sailing, boating and fishing; and natural wonders such as the Gorges du Verdon. Culture buffs will find artistic sights like the Venet Foundation, Bargeme and other ancient villages, beautiful monasteries and Roman ruins, as well as more contemporary places to see and be seen like St. Tropez, Cannes and other famed beaches. Most are within 20-30 minutes' drive.

The entrance to the villa is welcoming, with a light-filled entrance hall and guest toilet. A staircase to the right of the entrance hall leads to two second floor bedrooms, each with twin beds, and a full bathroom including bath and shower. Several steps lead down from the entrance to the main floor. The left wing of the main floor contains one bedroom with twin beds and lovely antiques, a full bathroom with shower, and a master bedroom with a king-sized bed and French doors leading to the outdoor terrace and a wonderful view of Callas. To the right, the main floor dining room has a large antique dining table able to seat 10 and French doors leading to an outdoor terrace, shaded in wisteria. The living room has a sofa, armchairs, fireplace and, hidden behind antique armoire doors, a satellite television and sound system; the living room also has double French doors, leading on to the outdoor terrace and looking out over Callas. The well-equipped kitchen leads to a covered outdoor summer kitchen with built-in barbeque and sink, and a large terrace with a teak dining table able to seat 10, with an awning that can be rolled out for shade if desired. Also attached to the kitchen is a garage/utility room, with a washing machine, large freezer, and drying rack.

Available year-round. Centrally heated. Not equipped for babies or very young children. No pets or smoking please.

The house is super nice, have great facilities and the location is perfect. Quitly located, with short walking distance to the village with good restaurants and generally nice atmosphere. Absolutly nothing to complaint about. A place we likely would rent again.

Nous avons passé un magnifique séjour dans cette maison. Le cadre est calme et apaisant. La piscine est parfaite bien que un peu fraiche selon les goûts de chacun ;-) La disponibilité la responsable de la maison ainsi que la propriétaire est parfaite et ponctuelle. c'est une grande maison qui est très bien équipée pour les grandes tribus. MAGNIFIQUE VILLA

Magnifique villa sur les hauteurs de Callas ; maison décore avec beaucoup de gout ; jardin superbe et et piscine, en léger contrebas - idéal pour atténuer le bruit des enfants - superbe également. Maison très adaptée pour les grandes familles, et la cuisine + terrasse superbe aussi et très bien équipée. Bref, un vrai havre de paix bien isolé de la foule du sud est. Lovely stay in Provence

We were two families with young children spending one holiday week together in Callas. House is lovely, much nicer than in pictures, and very good for two families to share given the layout of house. There’s plenty of space both in the house as well as outdoors with terraces, garden and pool area which we especially enjoyed. The kitchen has everything you need. Contact with and information provided by Julia was perfect. Callas itself is very small but has a few restaurants and a nice bakery. It is indeed walking distance to the village from the house but the road is very steep and so a bit of a struggle with young children. We went to Bargemon one evening and enjoyed dinner at maitre blanc. All in all a very nice stay.

Feeling at home in Provence

Stayed at the Deans residence near Callas for two weeks. We had a wonderful time in this beautiful house and felt at home right away. Enjoyed sitting on the terasse overlooking the viilage and the valley and the occasional dip in the pool. Enjoyed the local markets (Lorgues in particular) and scenic villages. If you like hiking, we particularly enjoyed Sentier de l'imbut in Gorges du Verdon.

Un endroit magique! Une villa parfaite un village charmant villa super bien située

La maison est très bien agencée, très chaleureuse les chambres et particulièrement la literie sont super. On a très bien dormi. La cuisine est très bien et très grande il ne manquait rien . Les enfants ont bien profité de la piscine et surtout l'emplacement de callas a fait que nous pouvions faire des activités et visites à une h de trajet. Nous étions 3 adultes et 5 enfants et nous avons tous bcp apprécié. L'accueil d'Amandine et de Julia disponible même de loin etait très rassurant. Merci encore Julia et si nous revenons à callas nous ne manquerons pas de revenir dans cette belle maison au calme parmi les cigales et la lavande!

Wonderful property in the Var!

This was our second visit to this Provencal Villa, the first being in the fall of 2008. We hope it is not our last! It is a lovely home, well appointed (thank you, Julia and Graeme), and beautifully situated on a hillside close to the town of Callas. We used the various terraces for morning coffee, afternoon lunches or simply for viewing the stars after a walk back from dinner in the town. This villa would suit a group of friends, up to 4 couples or a family grouping. Access to the villa was easy and conveniently arranged. The town of Callas has more than a few restaurants and the distance is a welcome walk. Our favourites were La Grupie (delicious, small and intimate) and La Fontaine (good food and a lovely busy terrace in the square). We also enjoyed cooking meals at the villa. This is a great location from which to hike. i.e.: the Gorges du Blavet, local hikes to Clavier and Bargemon (see the info office in Bargemon) and the Gorges du Verdon. We were provided with ample information of the area, the restaurants, markets, activities, etc by the owners. The drive from Nice airport to the house is straightforward and the Dean's instructions from Callas to the house were excellent. We would like to return to this house again with our growing family.

incredible retreat

We stayed at this amazing Villa for two weeks, starting at the end of September. It is a spectacular location. Very relaxing location with complete privacy and the owners have done an exceptional amount of work to keep everything impeccible. The location is ideal for short and long day trips to all the places you will ever want to see. We highly recommend this beautiful home and location to anyone considering a vacation to this area.

Two couples shared this lovely home for 10 days. the location is wonderful for exploring and the home is luxurious. The kitchen is well set up and there are lovely areas to eat outside. the pool is great. there is a local hostess who was very helpful. We highly recommend this beautiful home.

Nice Provencal holiday again!

My husband and I and our almost-16 year old son, stayed here for 2 weeks. Weather was lovely and hot, and we had a very relaxing time overall. We enjoyed being able to walk into Callas for early-morning croissants and bread, and the Hotel Du France in town was excellent value for lunch, and really good cuisine overall. We splurged again at the Michelin restaurant (Gorge du Pennafort) and once again found the 18 courses delicious, but just too much food - a la carte next time for us! We were pretty lazy and didn't leave the house except to shop for food, or eat out - the places we wanted to visit were a bit far away so we opted to chill by the pool most days. The pool was good, and we especially enjoyed the company of 3 chickens who roamed the flower beds looking for bugs to eat. We sat out and BBQ'd most evenings - the BBQ was excellent - we wished there was some comfy outdoor seating to relax a bit more in - but we played cards and games at the table a lot. The stereo and TV/DVD in the house was good - we watched a couple of films and listened to music most evenings. Amandine, the house manager, was excellent, and responsive to the few things we needed while we were there (more pillowcases and a minor dishwasher repair - all taken care of very easily and no hassle to us). All in all, a very relaxing and easy vacation, in a wonderful area of Provence, with typically-excellent food and wine abounding. Julia provided tons of useful information and checked we were OK once there - making the overall experience even better!

We always wish we could stay longer! The villa is very comfortable, the garden is gorgeous and the village is charming. Provisioning is easy; the village has an excellent butcher/charcuterie, great wine shop and a bakery, not to mention the herbs straight from the garden.

Our stay at the villa was outstanding! The villa is spacious and beautifully appointed. The kitchen is well supplied so that you can create any kind of meal. We loved the gardens and the pool - the perfect end to a day of sightseeing. The Deans have developed an incredible document that provides invaluable information on how to operate everything in the house, shopping, transportation, restaurants, day trips, etc. We would return in a heart beat! It was a magical holiday.

From the moment we walked through the door, I wished our stay could have been longer. There were 6 of us (3 couples). We enjoyed the house, the garden and surrounding area. We now live in Toronto, but started visiting Callas 25+ years ago while living in Asia with young children. We have a wide variety of interests but we all love coming to Callas to relax, explore, and immerse ourselves in all things French.

Why they chose this property

We bought our villa after renting in the area for many years. Every time we left we had many things to do on our next visit so we knew we'd never get bored! The list now includes everything from great markets, vineyards and restaurants to hiking trails, beaches and cultural sites - we love sharing it with our guests. It's also a great place to relax and do nothing. Have a morning cafe and croissants in the Callas square, a leisurely lunch on the terrace and an afternoon reading under the shade of the mulberry tree or by the pool. Perfection!

What makes this property unique

We like being able to walk into our village and not have to drive. It's 10 minutes down, 15 minutes back (there's a hill). We also like being in the quiet beauty of a rural area with incredible nature all around us but also having easy access to bigger places like St. Tropez, Cannes, Marseilles and Aix-en-Provence. It's the best of all worlds!
