Very cute property and houses. Great space on a very nice quiet lake. Perfect for a couple families and grandparents to vacation together and still have some separate spaces. The very minor downsides we found were that the AC in the smaller unit was not really adequate to keep the bedrooms cool. Lucky for us, the weather wasn’t too hot during our stay (especially at night) but if it had been hot out then I think we would have struggled with the heat and falling asleep in the smaller house. The bigger house has new and very good working AC throughout. We also were a little concerned about the splintering wood deck - we had a lot of kids that really wanted to walk around barefoot, especially coming off the private beach but the wood deck was in bad shape to be walking on barefoot - both due to splinters and screws coming up and sticking out.

We rented both cottages and we liked each in their own way. The larger updated cabin was good for cooking and having meals, while the smaller cozier cottage was better for relaxing and enjoying the view. The host was very accommodating for our special request.Overall the rental was excellent. The weather was not ideal, but that is no fault of the cottages. I would caution that the lake is quite shallow and the dock is not able to be used for tethering boats. The kids enjoyed swimming, but be sure to rinse off thoroughly (as adivsed by the host). The location was ideal for driving into glen arbor, pyramid point, the dune climb, and leland as well as various short hikes.

Big Family vacation

The location and cabins are beautiful. The lake was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for better. The cabins were very nice. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Our only issue was the air conditioning in the one story cabin was not sufficient, but we didn’t let it affect our good time

Great getaway

Two families stayed together in this cabin - well stocked, clean, 2 bathrooms, enough hot water for all 12 of us! Lake is beautiful, very shallow around the edges but great fishing - went to Traverse City, Glen Arbor, Leland, rode the bike trail - very relaxing!!!

Great lake week

Our family had a great time for the week. Kids loved playing in the sand out front and wading in the water as well. We rented a boat and had a good time with it as well. Lovely lake. The bunk room doesn't have space for luggage, but we were able to make that work just fine. Overall the cottage provided a very fun week for our family.

Fun House

Glen Arbor has become a madhouse over the last decade. It was nice to get away from town with our own beach and dock for swimming, kayak's, and just plain floating. M22 Market accross the street helps a lot also. Sunsets are great as well.

The older house was hotter than expected… fans worked some. mooring for boat not strong enough but boat people brought another anchor which worked great. The deck was very rough and one child stepped on an nail sticking out… deck definitely needs some attention rest all good!

4/10 Poor

Good location, but...

First, we had a great time, but it was because of the people, not the property. Although the pictures adequately show the property as an "up north cabin with character," it's what you don't see in the pictures that is a problem. There is a sandy area for the kids to play but it is separated from the water by a seawall, so there is no beach. Swimming was off the dock and although the kids didn't mind, it was a little trickier to watch them than had they been able to swim from shore. The sandy area is also fairly narrow which made it nerve racking to have a toddler play so close to the drop-off into the water. However, the 2 main issues we had which caused me to give this only 2 stars: • NEEDS A GOOD THOROUGH DEEP CLEANING. There were huge cobwebs hanging in the kitchen and there was a large cobweb filled with insects in the corner of the master bedroom. The bedroom fans had dozens of 1/2 inch dust bunnies hanging from the blades and cover screen. The curtains were thick with dust and cobwebs. The "white" leather couches in the living area were so disgustingly filthy that we kept them covered with blankets and sheets all week. I pulled the cushions off the couches when we were leaving to check for missing toys and the smell just about knocked me over and the treasure of old food (not anything that we brought) that I found was quite colorful. The living room and master bedroom are carpeted but are covered with throw rugs. The throw rugs were there to cover-up the disgustingly dirty and stained carpet....made me wonder if the rugs had ever been cleaned! • NEEDS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP. The oven does not work, you are stuck using a 1980's toaster oven for both baking and toast (no toaster) -- hard to bake a pizza in a toaster oven; pots, pans and serving dishes were a hit and miss adventure (only one large mixing/serving bowl); only 2 wash clothes for the 2 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms; the shed which stores some of the outdoor equipment and toys smells so strongly of rodent urine that it makes your eyes water; screens on both the side door and the sliding patio door had large rips; sliding patio door fell off the track daily; the screws actually pulled out of the side door and it was hanging by a single hinge (we repaired). All and all, it would have been fine if it were just clean and well-maintained. The kicker to the story is that the owners never returned my security deposit check and I had to put a "stop payment" on the check.

This renter never called and discussed any of these issues during their stay. We are very accommodating and always strive to make every renter happy, as you can see from every other review. It is impossible to fix something when you are unaware that it is broken. Since there is a very limited time between renters throughout the summer, we strive to do our best to keep up with repairs when we are told of them. SEAWALL: We fully disclose the fact that there is a seawall between the sand and the water. The picture on our site, not only shows the seawall, but also shows the width of the sandy area. We have never tried to mislead a guest to the amount of sandy area provided. We do a very thorough spring clean each year, which includes the carpets, rugs, curtains, etc. We obviously do not have time to wash the curtains each week between renters, but find it hard to believe there would be thick dust accumulated since spring. We also can not re-carpet a room between renters when a stain occurs, and therefore, have added NEW, CLEAN throw rugs if stains occur during the season. The "white" couches have never been white. They are taupe, leather couches. There is no "toy shed". There is a shed at the house that stores some tools and lawn supplies for owner use. The oven is fully functional and working. There is a toggle switch that sometimes gets switched off, inadvertently by the renter, however, had we received any mention of this during the stay, it could have been immediately resolved. There is also a toaster on site that is located in one of the kitchen cupboards instead of on the counter. By the end of our season, screens do tend to get ripped and the sliding door gets abused. We get them repaired when we are made aware of them. The security deposit was mailed back. Had we been informed that it was not received, we would have been more than happy to pay the stop payment fee to their bank. However, we were never informed of it. Overall, we received no phone calls or requests from this renter throughout the week. We do our best to keep our guests happy as you can see from our other reviews.

Can’t beat this location and being on the lake was perfect for our family with little kids. Having access to the kayaks was a big plus! One of the homes is very nice and new. The other has more of a cabin feel…very clean though a bit more dated and smaller. We had a great time and would stay here again.

Relaxing Fall Weekend

We rented the space for my low key bachelorette weekend. We played games around the fire and cooked meals together. The cabin was clean and contained everything we needed. Highly recommend!

Great cottage. Fully stocked.

A bunch of people in their 70s, 60s and 20s had a fantastic time with everything we needed. We loved cooking, kayaking, amazing Good Harbor Bay beach nearby, and so many hikes. Great star gazing from the pier.

Beautiful Family Getaway

Our family had a fabulous week on Little Traverse Lake! The location is ideal for hiking, biking, swimming, visiting Lake Michigan and visiting surrounding towns! The swimming area was sandy and shallow, which was perfect for our kids. The cottage had a lot of sleeping space and met all of our needs. We did have to buy our own toilet paper and laundry detergent (which was no big deal but just be aware that you may need to make a store run).

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at The Lake House! We apologize for the inconvenience of running out of supplies. We usually supply both toilet paper and laundry soap to our guests. It always gets a bit difficult by the end of the summer to make sure all the supplies are there.

Outstanding Week on LTL

This property was perfect for our group of seven. Four adults and three children under 5yrs old. The house is very well kept and outfitted with all the needed gear from the kitchen, bath, bedrooms, to the pantry and life jacket closet. Well located between Glen Arbor and Leland for convenient day trips or visits to the grocery or shops. Beautiful sunsets every night. Even caught a massive small mouth bass off the dock. Would love to stay again.

Relaxing lake house

Six of us spent a relaxing week here at the lake house. Our two grandsons loved having access to the water and use of the kayaks for the entire time. We had hoped to introduce them to fishing from the dock but the lake is so shallow we only had tiny fish. We ended up taking them to Fishtown to fish off the dock. They loved it! Good location to visit surrounding areas.

Great Getaway!

We enjoyed our time at the cabin over Thanksgiving when we were there. The lake was a beautiful site to look at everyday. There were loons on the water daily to watch. Neighboring cities were close enough to explore and enjoy without losing a whole day just to do it. The local towns are quite pleasant and worth visiting, Suttons Bay, Northport, Leland, Traverse City. There are neighbors, but still very quiet and peaceful. We would stay here again.
