About this property

This original Lake Lure cabin was built in the 1950's. We purchased the property in December of 2014 and have been renovating and updating this charming cabin. An open living room, kitchen, and dining area gives your family the perfect hang out space after a day on the water. The home has three bedrooms and two baths with a king in master, queen in second bedroom, and two twins/double bed in the third bedroom.
Many homes in Lake Lure have countless stairs to the home and/or the water. This cabin is mere steps from the water and is perfect for families with children or older family members. Reserve today and enjoy the beautiful view this summer!

Amazing! 10 year anniversary trip

I can’t say enough about how much we loved this property. The happy heron cabin was the perfect location to spend our 10 year wedding anniversary. This was our first time visiting lake lure, and we absolutely loved it. The views of the lake and the amazing sunsets from the cabin were incredible. And we were able to bring our fur baby with us which made it even better. The cabin was very clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed in the kitchen to make meals at home. It is also a short drive to nearby restaurants and the grocery store. We can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend this property.

Little Slice of Heaven

The VIEW!! We took so many pictures from the porch of the gorgeous lake and mountains. So quiet and peaceful. The entire property is a gem. We had so much fun on the dock and floating in the lake. Our pups had a blast swimming! Our host was fantastic and helpful in every way! Can’t wait to return next year!!

Cute Lake House for a Long Weekend

Our first stay at the Happy Heron was fantastic. From the lake views, to the well stocked kitchen and minimal steps down to the dock, this vacation rental had everything we needed. And you can't beat the miles-long sunset views, just a 1 minute paddle off the dock! We spent almost the entire weekend out on the lake, swimming and kayaking. We even took the kayaks down to the LakeHouse Restaurant for lunch one day, about 2 miles away. Lovely lunch spot right on the water with lots of docks to tie up to! We also rented extra kayaks, delivered right to the dock from Lake Lure Adventure Company, since there were 5 of us who all wanted to kayak at the same time. Overall a great stay and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing lake vacation. Would love to rent the Happy Heron again in the future!

Really is paradise at the lake

Beautiful view! Comfortable house. Decorated nicely but with plenty of space for our stuff. Loved watching the sunset over the lake. Saw some wildlife. Swam off the boat house deck everyday.

Fantastic home!

We had one of our best vacations in years staying at the Happy Heron. The home itself is lovely and well-appointed and the owners are friendly and helpful. It was wonderful for the kids to be able to just wake up and jump in the lake without it being a big production to pack everything/everyone up and go somewhere. We enjoyed being able to have our little beagle with us as well. Many spots are available for the adults to relax which was great. Absolutely 5 star experience all the way around.

We are both from Georgia, but have lived in the North Carolina mountains for more than ten years. It has been a dream of ours to have a lakefront home on this stunning mountain lake since we first visited years ago. We have rented lake homes on Lake Lure for years and finally decided to make our favorite vacation spot more permanent! We wanted to have a pet friendly rental because we know dogs can be part of the family too! Our two Goldendoodles, Freddy and Johnny, loves the lake as much as we do.
