Star Point on Snow Pond in the Belgrade Lakes

Spend a week or more at Star Point, and experience summer in Maine, the way life should be! Our comfortable cottage is situated at the wide end of Messalonskee Lake (aka Snow Pond), in the famous Belgrade Lakes chain.
Located at the waters edge, our camp was built in 2004 and features an open floor plan with 180 degrees of lake views from our deck on the point. Two decks and a porch offer plenty of outdoor seating in the sun or in the shade - where you will enjoy spectacular sunsets, the call of the loons, and gorgeous night skies.
Inside, the kitchen is a cook's delight and you can't beat those views. If you would rather just toss something on the grill as you toss a salad, that will work too! The main bedroom is on the first floor, with a king-sized bed, 2 dressers, and large closet. The bath is small but efficient, and is also on the first floor. Kids enjoy the loft bedroom with its cozy nook where they have a birds-eye view of the lake and first floor. The loft has a queen-sized bed a Twin Size Bed and room for sleeping bag or two.
The property is nestled in a small cove with a sandy bottom, great for swimming, fishing, or just floating. We have a large dock for your boat and easy access stairs off the dock leading to a nice sandy spot.
For fishermen, Snow Pond is a dream spot. The lake was named one of Americas 150 Best in 2007 according to Field & Stream. Trout, Bass and huge Northern Pike, are all here waiting for you to cast a line.

Wonderful Maine Experience

Star Point was all we had hoped for and more. Tim and Lauren's cabin is awesome and the views are magnificent. We kayaked almost everyday and slept to the calls of the loons. The sunsets were spectacular. From the comfy bed to the best equipped kitchen we have ever had in a rental , the cabin is perfect. We will be back!

This is a new and well-appointed cabin. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. Comfortable bed for us and a neat loft for the kids upstairs. Our daughters (5 and 8) enjoyed swimming off the dock. Good fishing off the point. The owners were helpful. We would definitely return some day soon.

Perfect in every way!

Star Point is perfect in every way! A beautiful vacation spot with all the comforts of home. The master bedroom is heaven with views of the water everywhere you look; the kitchen is made for the gourmet chef; the living room and dining area have great views and comfort. Wi-fi and DISH TV are very nice to have. The house was spotless and has such nice touches and a fully stocked kitchen. The wrap around deck is the perfect spot for breakfast or to listen to the lake splash against the rocks. The sitting dock is beyond perfect for late day relaxing, sunset watching and listening to the loons. This was the perfect house for our last vacation with our 12 year old son who loved the loft bedroom. We are dreaming of Star Point right now -- 6 months away and can't come soon enough! P.S. Owner Lauren was wonderful as well!

Picture Perfect Lakeside cottage

We had a wonderful time at Star Point cottage. Everything about the cottage was lovely. It was super clean, great water front and deck area. A separate table area out at the point for dining. Comfortable chairs outside (which is a rarity at cottages) and inside. A beautiful kitchen for cooking and windows in all directions. Swimming of the dock was clean and the easiest steps into water we've ever seen. The water was clean, fresh and wonderful for swimming, kayaking and floating. 2 eagles were nesting in the next bay and made daily flights near the cottage. It was a perfect escape and change of scenery for a week especially this summer. Thank you Tim and Laura for sharing your special place.

This rental exceeded our expectations. The camp was thoughtfully designed. The workmanship is excellent and the finishes are very nice. It is well supplied with everything you would need in the kitchen. Absolutely Perfect

The first thing you notice when arriving at Snow Pond is the natural beauty. The minute you enter the lake house you immediately see how spotless it is. Even the windowsills were clean! I own a Housekeeping business so this was a wonderful experience. The kitchen is organized and very well supplied. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are expansive. The furniture throughout the house is comfortable and clean. So much TV , for those rainy days, we had trouble deciding what to watch! Every sunset was more beautiful than the last and you have plenty of vantage points on multiple decks to relax and enjoy. I would highly recommend this absolutely perfect lakefront home, and can’t wait to go back!! Thanks Tim and Lauren for letting us experience true comfort and serenity!

We had a lovey quiet relaxing week! It was a little humid but the AC in the bedroom kept us cool at night and the dips in the lake kept us cool during the day. We had everything we needed for cooking. The views are gorgeous from everywhere in the cabin.

Paradise!!

Wow!! I cannot say enough good things about this rental! My boyfriend and I stayed for a week of R&R during the third week of August and it was incredible!! The real thing more than measured up to the pictures online. The cabin was neat, clean and comfortable, and had everything you could want on vacation and more. Between the fabulous king bed (just the right mix of firm and soft) and the just-perfect-for-lounging reclining chairs in the living room, we felt like royalty. The best part though, was the gorgeous nature that envelopes the place. The views were to die for. The cries of the loons were haunting and beautiful. The sunsets were amazing. The water felt fantastic, and we loved having coffee on the deck every morning, joined by our "friends" the chipmunks and the ducks. We miss it already!

We are both born and raised in Maine and love the outdoors. We live and work less than 15 miles from the cottage. We have an intimate knowledge of the lake, the surrounding area and Maine and we would gladly share our knowledge and enthusiasm for this great place before, during and after your stay.

Why they chose this property

This property has been in Tim's family since 1972 so we are the second generation of owners. Several family members and friends live near or own cottages on the lake so Star Point is often the site of choice for family gatherings for celebrations and lobster feeds.

What makes this property unique

Star Point is actually one of five points on a peninsula that sticks out into the widest part of this nine mile long lake, locally referred to as Snow Pond. We are at the end of our camp road so there is little to no car traffic. The shoreline is rocky and the front deck sits high on a ledge and we have a private dock with stairs leading into the water.
