Cozy Cabin Overlooking Beautiful Lake Cuyamaca
Come enjoy some of San Diego's forgotten beauty in this gorgeous, Piute Trail mountain cabin overlooking Lake Cuyamaca and just minutes from the quaint little town of Julian. During your stay, you'll have a chance to see wild deer grazing in the nearby pastures below, wild turkey foraging up and down the hillside (sometimes they even visit the deck!), raccoon's getting into their usual mischief, bald eagles soaring above or swooping in for a quick meal, owls, orioles, blue-jays, migratory ducks & geese, woodpeckers... and the list goes on! If you're into bird watching and/or photography, this is a great place for both! Using the cabin as a base camp, you'll be able to explore Cuyamaca Rancho State Park and Cleveland National Forest ,Anza-Borrego State Park with their many trails and viewpoints; fish for Florida bass, smallmouth bass, trout, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, and even white sturgeon (Yes, our lake has sturgeon!); picnic on Fletcher Island; go boating; or just take in the peaceful surroundings and vast views from the comfort of the cozy cabin! Open year-round, including the snowy winter months when you can take advantage of the local sledding and snowboarding terrain. Available by reservation only, so plan early! Clean simple cabin in great location.We have stayed in rental homes in Julian several times and really enjoyed the location of this cabin the most. The views, deer, turkey, walkability, and peaceful neighborhood were perfect! There was some Foilage viewable from the cabin, that was what we were hoping for! Cabin had enough kitchen pots and pans etc. but bring your own foils, storage bags, favorite spices, etc. as well as all of your own toiletries. Bedrooms were cabin cozy. If you looking for a beautiful serene location this rustic cabin is wonderful. We hope to return!

Great Cabin with great amenities. Home away from home. Great location with a beautiful view of the lake, mountains, and landscape. Loved the front porch to sit and relax. The wild Turkey and deer grazed and crossed in front the cabin each morning. Looking forward for a return visit.

Lovely Country Cabin

The cabin is cozy with a great view of the lake. In the early morning you can see wild turkey and deer. Easy walk to the lake and the trails nearby. A great cabin that is ideal for a family weekend.

Fine for what we needed, but could have been cleaner. Deck needs work, and one of the beds was exceptionally hard. No soap in shower - thought that was odd. But we had a super relaxing time and appreciated the great location. Would stay again, now that we know what to expect.

Peaceful Cabin by the Lake

Great little rustic cabin near the lake with awesome view from the patio of the lake and the occassional wild turkey. We will be staying here again in the future.

An outstanding mountain stay

Although our stay at Piute Trail Lodge was cut short due to inclement weather, the time that we were at the cabin was GREAT. The views of the lake are awesome, the beds are comfortable, the whole cabin ambiance is perfect. We can't wait for the opportunity to visit again.

this was the 4th time we stayed at this cottage. Always relaxing and quiet. Love watching the deer and wild turkeys walking through. Only place we will stay in the Julien/Lake Cuyamaca area.

Great Cabin

We had a family vacation at the Cabin. Great location, everything was in order, comfortable, clean, and plenty of room for the four of us. The owners were very responsive when I had a few minor questions. View cannot be beat, and every morning we got to view turkey and deer with the kids. Will 100% reserve again.

Wonders of nature abound

We chose to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary here for the serenity and view of the lake. We got so much more. Wild turkey, Deer, Geese, Ducks, a symphony of beautiful birds and an hoot Owl. Accomodations were fantastic as well. We highly recommend a retreat here. We are recharged for sure.

Relaxing …

We took in natural views of lake and the wildlife. We saw in our front porch wild turkeys and hummingbirds. At one point we even saw a majestic bald eagle. We decompressed during the day at the lake by renting a boat and fishing the day away. Just a lovely get away!

Beautiful lakeside retreat

Felt like staying at Grandma’s lakeside cabin- classic lake decor, cozy blankets, claw foot tub! We very much enjoyed the gorgeous view right out the front window. Sipping tea on the porch looking at the lake and mountains and trees- so good for the soul. Can’t get closer to the lake than this for this particular lake. Quiet area. Easy drive to Julian. All basic kitchen items available, easy to get in and out, responsive host. Do keep in mind in line with the country getaway from the city, the one tv doesn’t have streaming service.
