Welcome to the Lake Effect Cabin. This is the perfect setting for a peaceful retreat or the launching point for your next big adventure. Set on a spacious property with large front and back yards, it features a hot tub gazebo, outdoor fire pit, and plenty of room for summer yard games, bonfires, and all your recreational toys. Best of all, we’re quite literally on Munising’s major ATV, ORV, and snowmobile trail system—making this a truly one-of-a-kind cabin-in-the-woods experience.

While the setting feels rustic and secluded, you’ll enjoy anything but “roughing it.” The cabin is thoughtfully appointed with comfy linens on every bed, a full-size tub and shower, a fully stocked kitchen, handcrafted furniture, beautiful cabin architecture, and a cozy propane fireplace—perfect for unwinding after a day exploring the Upper Peninsula.

Located just 20 minutes from the breathtaking Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and close to all local attractions, there’s never a shortage of things to do. Enjoy nearby restaurants, rivers, waterfalls, and endless outdoor recreation including ATV, ORV, and snowmobile trails. Day trips to charming downtown Marquette and Grand Marais are also within easy reach. After a full day of adventure, return to the cabin to soak in the outdoor hot tub beneath a sky full of stars.

The cabin was clean and exactly as advertised. We had a great trip! Communication with the host was not great. I sent a message a couple days before our stay and never heard back from them but we didn’t need anything super important, so it didn’t affect our trip at all.

The property is beautiful - wonderful forest, quiet. The cabin is very attractive and comfy. The lighting is slightly dim. A great place to rejuvenate and use as a home base to explore the Pictured Rocks National Park.

Our stay was disappointing to say the least. The hosts will make excuses and claims, but please only rent this property if you have a 4-wheel-drive vehicle, and DO NOT trust their claim that it is a 20-minute drive to Picture Rocks. Also, the Hot tub was broken, and though the host did have someone come out to look at the hot tub so we could use it twice during our stay, it still had a leak, and reading previous reviews, it sounds like the hot tub has been an issue for previous guests. To the host's credit, they did offer a refund, but when they asked us what we thought was fair and we cited multiple concerns, instead of humility and accountability, they attempted to argue with us and justify a lower refund. We accepted their refund amount, which was somewhat fair. But given the rough road, we could only leave the property once during our stay, and with the weather being a factor, the drive was one of the most terrifying drives of our lives. The road did severely limiting our trip's goals. The host will claim they gave us a warning about the road, which they did, but they also gave us updates that it was okay for travel with "only a few ruts." This was a severe delay, and the road was multiple miles long, which was not disclosed. Other downsides: a bathtub without a stopper (so no bathtub), dirty dishes upon arrival, a sink with a constant drip unless you placed the handle just right, the large right burner on the stove did not work, and no salt & pepper.

This is unfortunately one of the more blindsiding reviews I’ve received to date and it’s a huge bummer to hear this when we had a completely different dialog with you privately. I will include our dialog for vrbo to hopefully post. Our initial interaction was a preemptive conversation on the phone, made by me explaining that our area just received 52” of snow over the period of two days- quite literally a historic blizzard that was all over the news. I explained it was entirely up to you if you’d like to still make the trip and if not, I would offer a full refund. The travel in was still difficult for anyone- across the entire UP. I called to be sure you had an AWD vehicle. When you said you had a van, but have lots of experience on the snow, I warned you appropriately for the circumstances even citing it would add time to your commute to and from the cabin. We have no control over the weather conditions. The hot tub, noted from the tech that went out there had an issue with a pump not allowing it to properly heat up due to a surge. This is a recent and fixed issue. There was no leak, the repair man explained he needed to drain the water below the filter level to repair the pump. We would have gladly provided a bath tub stop should that have been brought to my attention. We have the walk through video of our cabin prior to your stay sent via our cleaning staff, and there are no dirty dishes. You had a 3 night stay at $245 a night- asking for a $600. I issued $250.

Beautiful, clean, and nicely decorated cabin. The hot tub was clean and well thought out. I loved the twinkle lights on the cabin and hot tub gazebo. They gave great ambience! I highly recommend this cabin and will stay again the next time we visit the U.P.

Overall a nice place to stay. Clean and had all the essentials. Wish we would have known before booking that there was a 15 min drive on gravel roads any way you came. Also we were there in August and it was a hot stretch - we struggled to cool down the house even at night for sleeping.

Peaceful Family Time

This cabin was perfect, especially if you are looking for peace and quiet. The cabin was clean and cozy. We enjoyed having s’mores by the campfire and the hot tub. The grandbabies were able to sleep well with no noise, like you would have at a hotel. We even saw 2 snow shoe rabbits in the morning. It is about 25 minutes from all the waterfalls and town, but worth the drive for the quiet. We would all stay here again!
