"Please note"...The Wildwood Association does not allow any outside boats to be brought in to the complex for use in the two lakes. and no outside watercraft of any sort are allowed in the lakes. The Association works very hard in keeping the lakes weed free and by limiting the boats brought in they have kept the lakes in fantastic shape.
Wi-fi is accessible inside the clubhouse, porch or picnic tables.
Our lakefront and dock are open to our guests for all swimming boating and fishing activities, and dog swimming.
You’ll love our place because of the lakefront location and quaint cottage privacy. It's part of a waterfront recreational community, with secure access to swimming, boating, biking, tennis, hiking. New stove, water heater and furnace, outdoor shower and renovated bathroom. Berkshire culture, antiques, museums and local orchards and farms make this a relaxing and enriching holiday option. Within 40 minutes of 6 Flags New England.
Located in the Berkshire Mountains of southwestern Massachusetts, this cottage is part of a private association called Wildwood, surrounding two lakes called Cranberry Pond and Otter Pond. Our cottage is a modified A-frame hand made by a father and sons, who were founding members at Wildwood, and has lakefront access to the main lake (Cranberry Pond) down a short flat path to the water and private dock. The cottage comfortably sleeps 5 people with 1 double-size bed bedroom, 2 twin-bed bedroom and a single bed bedroom as well as a trundle bed that can open up in the living room and a day bed in the upstairs balcony if you want more people in your party. There is a kitchen, dining area/living room and half bath downstairs, and 3 bedrooms and full bathroom with shower upstairs. A back utility/boat room has another small bed, across from the downstairs bathroom.
The cottage features a lovely screened in porch that overlooks Cranberry Pond. Great for enjoying outside dining, bird-watching, and entertaining. We have sighted scarlet tanager, great blue heron, kingfisher and many other woodland birds. No outside watercraft of any sort are allowed in the lakes. The Association works very hard in keeping the lakes weed free and by limiting the boats brought in they have kept the lakes in fantastic shape. The cottage rental includes use of a row boat, 3 kayaks and a canoe (specific information will be provided for the use of each watercraft).

There is free WiFi access for guests at the Clubhouse 24/7. We do not have Wifi or a TV/cable at the cottage. AT&T and Verizon service is strong, T-Mobile is not.

Charming cottage in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood (even during the Fourth of July holiday). Hosts were very responsive to queries. Very nice pond for swimming and kayaking. No internet or TV, which was great for us, but the clubhouse is a short walk away if you're need that WiFi. Lots of bird activity in the neighborhood, if birding is your thing (it's a very short drive to an Audubon sanctuary as well).
A truly unique cabin by a beautifully clean & natural lake. This home is full of personality, we felt as if we were welcome guests in a place defined by years of family enjoyment. Games, bikes & boats are available in abundance, and a spirit of simple honest pleasure is evident in the whole setup. We completely enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your visit, I'm happy if the children take the wondrous joy of a vacation on the lake along with them...so sorry about the dump business, you are really good sports.
My very best wishes to you and your family, thank you for making a second stay.

This is our fourth time staying in this magical house. Very rustic, out of the way. The house is 30 steps from large, tranquil lake with herons. I swam an hour + every day. Outdoor shower supplements the indoor one for a sensual treat. Highly pleasant screened porch looking out into woods with lake beyond. We bring our own mobile hot spot since there's no internet onsite.
This is a charming, funky house that is very comfortable. It is 30 steps away from a pristine lake, with immediate access. The lake is very under-used to I got to take my 2-hour swims with minimal worry about social distancing in the water. Our 3 cats loved it. They got to go outside, and the road is little traveled, so they were safe. I wish I could just live there. So restful and restorative after 3 months of NYC covid emergency!

David, you left our place so clean and nice, thank you for your consideration. I was unable to get the review to stick for your stay, my apologies. I tried and tried, but it wouldn't save.
I gave you 5 stars!
hope all is well for you.

It's a charming, funky house, with a view of the lake from one upstairs bedroom and treetops from the other. The screened porch is heaven to sit on. The lake is 20 steps away. The neighboring houses aren't far, but totally screened off by foliage. We are tucked away there. The lake is indescribably wonderful and accommodated my 2-hour swims quite nicely, thank you very much. Thanks to the ducks, hummingbirds, and heron too! We brought our 3 cats, and they also were in heaven, roaming freely (but coming in at night). The road is not heavily used so pretty safe for them. Barbara is an excellent host. Very hard to leave!

We miss you! hope all the kitties are well and you are fully recovered.
If you're looking to get away from noise, traffic, and light pollution this is the place for you!
The house is set back from the lake with lovely views of the lake from the screened in porch and the upstairs bedroom. It's set amongst the trees. I felt like I was enjoying the woods as if I was camping but with all the comforts of home. It's very private. Where and how it is situated made it the perfect place to be during this summer's heat and humidity. It's soooo much cooler there.
I used only the outdoor shower for the entire two weeks I was there and it was delightful. Like showering in the woods!
There is a short wooded path to the lake with a private dock. There are only small trolling motors allowed on the lake so it's the perfect place to enjoy the boats provided, swim, or float around without dodging boats and wakes. The area by the dock has some of the best fishing on the lake.
There are four association beaches around the lake. My young adult children and a few of their friends paddled over to one and spent the entire day and a blast. The beaches would be a great place for little ones as well and the area around the dock is shallow enough for littles to wade around.
The association clubhouse is very nice and all the facilities are very well-kept. I was a little worried about how renters might be perceived at a private lake community like this but everyone I met in the community was very nice and welcoming.
This cottage is a unique gem on a quiet lake.

Thank you for your review! I missed that you were bringing your dog on your form, so that's why I rated you 4 on the communication, that is my fault!!!
You left the house so nicely, please feel free to come again, with pets!!
Oarlocks are found, hiding in the orange tackle box.
please accept my misunderstanding!

We stayed for much of the summer it couldn't have gone better. There was plenty for the kids to do - from the daily swimming, boating and fishing, to the games, puzzles and toys on the occasional rainy day. The beaches all lovely and easy to get to, without ever being crowded. They have amenities nearby.
Overall, it was really a memorable time, and I couldn't recommend it more.
Great locale for relaxing out of the hubub of upper Berkshires. Clise to all we wanted to do. Host was very accomodating and responsive. Lots of character in the older cottage, but with all modern amenities in close proximity. Lake and beach were easily accessible and clean.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, especially our pup who thought it was entirely his vacation and would wait by the door to go swimming. Morning coffee in the screened in porch was beautiful and our cats enjoyed listening to the outdoors. Canoeing, kayaking and swimming right from the property was the highlight of our stay. The construction of the cottage and its history was also very endearing and added to our appreciation of Adrian and his family sharing it with us. In the end the cottage felt like home and we did not want to leave.

This was our second stay. It's such a cozy house, perfect for a couple, although our guests were well accommodated as well. Just a few steps to the lake. Had a great time swimming, kayaking, pedal-boating. Barbara was an excellent hostess - easly accessbile and responsive. Can't wait to get back. This is a refuge!
Lovely stay in Tolland. Barbara was a great host. Kids loved kayaking on the lake, so peaceful.

A well-loved rustic cottage perfect for a city dog's retreat (and dog-parents)
Fall is a beautiful time to visit this pond-front cottage to escape New York city life for leaf-peeping in the surrounding woods and countryside roads, the sounds of a babbling brook, sitting by the fire, dawn at the pond, and canoeing with your fur-baby. The cottage is pond-front with a dock that has a shallow bottom, which my cocker spaniel loved to jump off and go swimming. My dog had the time of his life, and we got to unplug and recharge through a simpler lifestyle. The cottage is rustic, and it is also well stocked and thoughtfully decorated with heartwarming retroelements. It's a great place for Plein-air painters and writers too. Barbara is welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful, and responsive. We will be going back in the spring! If you go, Granville Scoop is a must; with a great selection of sugarless and regular ice cream. I would recommend this cottage to my friends and family who need a change of pace.
We spent a wonderful, relaxing week here during the height of the fall foliage. No matter the weather, it was perfect: reading in the hammock by the lake, enjoying a fire in the woodstove, walking the beautiful roads. The owners were very responsive and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again!
My husband and I were looking for a quiet getaway for week in a pond woodsy area, in a comfortable setting. We're former campers so we didn't want anything too fancy! We enjoyed using the provided water craft and just sitting by the edge of the pond reading and relaxing. It was a bit cooler than we expected so we didn't take advantage of the many well maintained beaches around the pond. We did enjoy building a fire in the wood stove after dinner and getting comfortable with a good book. My only complaint would be I wish we had been alerted to the fact that mice were busy this year. No big deal in our eyes, but we should have been told, and we could have stored our food stuffs accordingly. We also wondered what the neighborhood would have been like during a non-pandemic summer. Would it have been as peaceful? We'd be game going back for another visit in the future. We really enjoyed our stay!
We had a wonderful time. Beautiful location in a serene natural environment, cozy & practical home was perfect for our family summer getaway. A truly charming place to stay!

About the host
Hosted by Adrian Hayman
We (my mother and I) are both located in the Hudson Valley of New York. I am a musician/engineer, as well as carpenter/handyman, and my mother is a retired elementary school teacher in New York City, formerly in NYC theater. We live a distance away, so if there are any serious issues, Wildwood staff can be of great help and are close by, the maintenance staff is on duty every day from 8-5, office hours are posted at the front of the main clubhouse.
Why they chose this property
The house has been passed down from my grandparents, who kept it as a wonderful rendezvous place for family, extended and otherwise to enjoy in hot summers since they bought the house in 1970. Although our lakefront and dock is wonderful for swimming, the cottage is a two minute walk from the Main beach area (one of four). The Main beach has a men's and a women's restroom facility and shower at the community Clubhouse.
The outdoor tennis courts, a shuffle board area, volleyball, croquet , a swing set area/picnic ground, baseball/soccer field and 2 basketball hoops are all located near the Clubhouse, which houses a library and relaxing tables and sofas as well as the Wildwood Office. The laundry is also located there, (electric key access) where cards for the laundry can be purchased. The machine only takes $5 and $10 cash. Croquet and Shuffleboard equipment and balls are kept in the laundry. There are some very beautiful walking trails and smaller more private beaches around the lake that are worth exploring. The cottage is a great place to disconnect from the busy world and reconnect with yourself, as well as your loved ones!
What makes this property unique
Cranberry Pond is great for fishing (Bass, crappies, bluegills, sunfish, pickerel, and bullheads are plentiful). Remember your fishing gear & bait! Live worms reap the best fishing experience. Catch and release is mainly practiced.
Otter pond is located about a 15-20 minute walk from our cottage. This pond has a small intimate beach and also has a men's and women's bath house. Kids love to go looking for frogs and newts, and built elaborate sandcastles there. Floating docks are also features of both lakes and beaches. Please remember your guest pass when driving to the beaches and use the designated parking areas.
