You will also enjoy Olympic History at your doorstep. For hockey fans and ice skaters, you are only two blocks from the 'Miracle on Ice' arena and four blocks from the ice rink where Eric Heiden won his gold!
In the winter, enjoy riding the bobsled, skiing the cross-country trails at the Olympic center on Mt. Van Hoevenberg, or skiing the Olympic downhill and Super G trails at Whiteface Mountain. In the summer, the Mirror Lake beach is only a short walk away; world-class hiking, rock climbing, fishing and other lake activities like paddle boarding on Mirror Lake, as are world class guides and gear.
In addition to privacy, the mountain/lake view and having the best location for Lake Placid entertainment, Highland Loj is a lovely “home away from home” for your family and friends. As previous reviewers have said, it has great charm and a “WOW Factor”. The layout of the home provides the ability to be together in the large open cathedral ceiling great room, but also gives your family and friends their own space in the three floor layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms.
Adjoined to this large family area, the gourmet kitchen has a Wolf Range, Asko dishwasher, granite countertops and is fully equipped with cookware and dish-ware. On the main level, there are also two comfy window seats available to take in the views and a large deck to enjoy the outdoors. There is plenty of seating with a wood burning fireplace, flat screen TV, premier cable, blu-ray player, and high speed internet. A bedroom and en-suite bath completes this level with a king-sized bed and private deck.
You enter the home on the lower level, which has an attractive entryway for all your boots and jackets. There is a bedroom with a queen bed and a bunk bed which has a full-sized bottom bunk adjoining another family room with another flat screen TV, premier cable, blu-ray player and a classic mini Nintendo system. In addition, there is a full bath with natural slate floor and shower, a game room with a foosball table, a laundry room, a deck with a 6 person hot tub to enjoy. In the backyard, there is also a lean-to and fire-pit.
The upper level provides two more bedrooms. The master bedroom boasts a king-size bed, en-suite tumbled marble and limestone bath, a private deck with mountain and lake views, and a sleeping loft. The second bedroom has an en-suite tumbled marble bath with a queen-size bed. You will find our mattresses and furnishing all more than comfortable. There are a/c units on the main level and upper bedrooms for the summer months. You can be sure that all bedding is sanitized on a regular basis and we are taking proper COVID-19 safety cleaning measures.
The Adirondacks are, without a doubt, the premier mountain experience in the Northeast! Highland Loj provides the full package for this experience. You will not be disappointed!

The house was perfect for our two family getaway. Bedrooms on three levels made for great separate time and the den and kitchen was perfect for gathering. Location was perfect and it had a great cozy feel inside. Highly recommend.
My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Highland Loj. The home is bigger than the pictures suggest, was well equipped with everything you may want or need for a family stay, and is super conveniently located with a short 5 minute walk to town.
Awesome place. Beautiful down to the smallest details. Great location. Lake Placid is wonderful in the winter. EPIC boot/jacket/gloves/helmet room. Great ski time. All bedrooms were nice. We have 7 adults and three kids 12 and under. Everyone had their own place. Highly Recomended.
What an amazing house! We had 5 adults and 4 young kids and this house was a dream. We went in thinking we would eat around town but the second we say the beautiful kitchen we wanted to make all our meals! The walk to town was easy and the beach is so close. I can’t thank them for an amazing week and recommend this house to anyone and everyone!
We can't say enough good things about this home. The location was perfect...you can walk everywhere. The house was clean, well stocked and beds were very comfortable. It is definitely on the top of the list of any places we have stayed since making our annual trip to Lake Placid in the past 24 years.
If looking for a getaway in Lake Placid, look no further! House is perfect! Includes a hot tub and fire pit. Place was nice and cozy for our Labor Day weekend vacation! We will be back!
The house was exactly as advertised. It was beautiful, clean, and well appointed. It met all of our needs and then some. Every one of our family members throughly enjoyed the house and all it had to offer.
I would stay here again and recommend this house.
First time to the area for our sons wedding. Was the perfect house for family to gather and we had room for the bride and groom and parties to get ready without seeing each other! It was a fantastic time and the house is in a great location to take advantage of a lot
of touristy things as well
Stayed at the Highland Loj for a family girls weekend filled with hiking and spending time together at the house. Wonderful amenities like the hot tub and extremely spacious- with 8 people we felt there was still room to spread out. 5 minute walk to town down Marcy Rd. Would definitely recommend this property to those looking for a relaxing get away in Lake Placid, and would stay here again.
Great location, beautiful property, wonderful host. Walk to everything in town. The kitchen and dining and living areas are all open and we spent most of our time at the house in these areas - great for dinner parties and conversation. Same goes for the fire pit - very cozy in the early Fall evenings. The house was very clean and well-kept. We highly recommend Highland Loj.
This is the third time we’ve rented this property and it was perfect as always. We love the Adirondack vibe and love that there is enough space to gather but also enough space to be separate. The kitchen is probably the best stocked kitchen I’ve ever seen.
This property was perfect for our annual girls trip! Open living/dining area and so many beds. We walked to town both nights for dinner and drinks. Space was clean and the hot tub was a nice bonus. Don’t even think about renting first week in March each year because we will be back!
We had 4 dads and 4 daughters on this trip for a hockey tournament. The house was more than big enough for all of us. It was in great shape and the location was perfect. It was a very short walk down the hill to Main St. and only a couple blocks away from the hockey arenas. The girls had a great time hanging out mostly on the first floor together and really enjoyed the hot tub. The owners/agents were very easy to work with and the house was ready to go when we got there. It was a very easy check-in/check-out process. We couldn't ask for more and if we're lucky maybe we can rent again next time we're up here for hockey.
We had a wonderful stay and were visiting for a ski weekend. I would definitely stay again. The location is very convenient. The home is large, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The inside of the home was very clean and well enough maintained. The hot tub was a little smelly and needed to be cleaned, unfortunately.
We cooked two dinners in the house. The kitchen is a good size and is well equipped. Oddly, the oven includes a thermometer that simply measures “warm” or “hot”, but without any actual numbers. Next time, I’ll bring a leave-in thermometer.

Dream Home
What a gorgeous, warm and welcoming place to stay! We rented the house for the IRONMAN 70.3 weekend and it's minutes away from the main town (and race start if you are doing an event). The four bedrooms, with four bathrooms, gave everyone their own space and privacy. The kitchen is high end. The living room, with window seats and a real fireplace (wood included), is the most peaceful place to relax. The outside deck and BBQ are great for social time - as is the outdoor fire pit (although I wished it was real. It is electric). And don't get me started on the hot tub. What a treat!
It was like we had a spa weekend even as we worked out. I highly recommend this home for your stay in Lake Placid.
Food wise - check out SMOKE SIGNALS, and get a reservation at JIMMY'S 21 (as for a window seat overlooking the lake!) The food and beer at BIG SLIDE BREWERY were also worth the trip. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for your kind review! It was a difficult choice between propane and an open wood fire pit. We decided due to safety reasons in our highly wooded area in town to go with propane. Again, thank you for your thoughtful points in your review. It really means a lot to us!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Lake Placid. The house was lovely and just what you would want in the Adirondacks. It is well kept up and has a nice kitchen, dining room and family room. It is walking distance to many stores and restaurants which is very convenient.
We truly enjoyed our stay in this home! It is was clean, secure, welcoming, the kitchen was outstanding, the grill was perfect, the deck, fire pit, and hot tub, rounded out the perfect vacation rental. The housekeeper was professional and was there when we arrived. She helped us with fixing connections with the lower level TV! I forgot to leave her a tip that I regret!! The only complaint that we had was the temperature in the main level bedroom but that was only for one night and it was very hot that weekend.. We would definitely rent this home again! Very close to downtown. Thank you for allowing our family to stay in your home!
We love Lake Placid and the Adirondacks. There are many different activities and much beauty to enjoy during every season. Bob is an ADK 46er, skier, and grew up hiking these beautiful mountains. Deb loves fishing, being on the lake, beach, and walking the path around Mirror Lake. Our family loves to hike, ski/snowboard, walk the village, fish, snowshoe, ice skate, and cross country ski. This home is a special place for our whole family to enjoy this outdoor playground.
What makes this property unique
The open floor plan of the great room with its beautiful kitchen and long dining room table make it a perfect place to gather together as family and friends. Plus the three level layout of the 4 bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms provides the ability to have your own space as well. Lastly, the private treehouse feel of the home with the convenience of the village makes it a special vacation getaway.
