Black Cockatoo - Secret Garden Mountains Home

Our mountains home is nestled high in the tree tops. Gorgeous views, and lots of bird life.

Spacious, with a distinctive mountains feel. You'll relax in our totally private, natural setting, and large, peaceful gardens and backyard.

All just a short walk from Katoomba Street, or a short drive to Leura, the Three Sisters and other beautiful parts of the Blue Mountains National Park.

The house is perfect for your Mountains getaway. Totally private, spacious with peaceful views from the large outdoor deck (with firepit) and three balconies.

We are child and pet friendly!

The two living spaces and large entertainers kitchen provides you with plenty of room to relax and unwind.

The walk up the driveway and two flights of stairs is worth the trip as you arrive at the large front deck nestled in the trees.

There is lots of room for the kids to run around both in and outside the house.

Everything in the house connects beautifully. The kitchen and dining room open up to the back deck nestled next to the Bali inspired garden.

The adjacent block is perfect for the kids or dog to run around in, or simply to relax amongst the trees.

Please note that the only access to our treetop house is via two flights of stairs and our driveway (Please see pictures). Not recommended for people with mobility constraints.

THE BEDROOMS

- Bedroom one is spacious and fully private on its own upper level with large inbuilt wardrobe, a lounge, private balcony and adjacent bathroom. You have a comfortable queen bed and queen air mattress here.

- Bedroom two is very roomy with a queen size bed, chaise lounge, flat screen tv with chromecast, desk and looks out on the garden

- Bedroom three has a double bed, floor mattress, and shared balcony with Bedroom four.

- Bedroom four has a double bunk bed with single on top, shared balcony and large wardrobe space.

- Second loungeroom can be turned into a fifth bedroom with its queen koala sofa bed. Very comfy!

The house has central gas heating, aircon (in dining room and main lounge room) and fans in each bedroom.

All bedrooms have electric blankets and comfortable Sheridan bed linen and towels.

Wifi is high speed 5G internet. Perfect for a week or a few days working from home in a Mountains getaway!

You also have access to the 1,000m2 block of land next door. Total privacy and perfect for the kids!

Please note that the only entrance to the house is via the steep driveway and two flights of stairs. Not recommended for people with mobility issues. If you find the driveway difficult, there is plenty of free parking on nearby streets.

We welcome pets. The large front deck is fenced and so is the backyard bbq area.

Please note that the house has a bush like setting. It is surrounded by beautiful trees so there are leaves and branches that drop on the decks, and there can be insects and spider webs.

The property was lovely, well appointed and beds comfortable. Plenty of room for everyone. The stairs can be a bit much for older people, but they weren't a surprised. We were also informed of the 'intimidating' driveway, so it shouldn't have been a surprise, but it was a surprise when the car couldn't make it up all the way up because it was so steep!

Lovely property. I was aware of steep stairs, found carrying heavy esky hard and also the driveway challenging to navigate in rain/dark to park multiple cars. Fridge was a little hard to open at times. Overall enjoyed our stay. Easy walk to Leura, plenty of space and lovely gardens. Very clear instructions, no problem to access home.

Such a beautiful warm country home with all the facilitiers we needed. Nice views and a cute back bushy garden. The kitchen had all we needed including a rice cooker which my Thai husband can't live without. Beds were warm and comfy as was the central heating. Would be happy to return.

Katoomba stay

The property is in a great location with good access for both Katoomba and Leura. There is plenty of sleeping accommodation to host a large group. The place is very warm and there is ample supply of pillows and blankets. The hosts were fabulous in their communication and assisting one of our group who left behind a personal item. The only downside is the parking on a very steep drive but we were well aware of this situation prior to our stay.Also the place needs a bigger bbq to accommodate the number of guests.

We stayed during a cold snap in winter, but the house was toasty warm and well stocked. 10-15min walk to the shops is up a steep hill so if your knees aren’t great like mine you may want to drive. Recommend Bootlegger bar for a meal or drinks and a show.

Wonderful retreat to the mountains

An excellent property and excellent hosts. Andrea and Daniel have a real gem of a house, both functional and retaining mountain charm. The only downside is the driveway which is difficult to manoeuvre in the wet but affords for the place to be in such a secluded and beautiful spot and personally I don’t see it as a drawback. Wonderful views from the property. A great entertainers deck with fire pit and a wonderful garden make this a peaceful getaway suitable for friends and family. Bedrooms were sizeable and comfortable and the house was easy to warm. The only thing lacking are coat hooks in the entrance hall which just goes to show how great the house is.

Good extended family getaway, just a few tings to be aware of.

Lovely quirky property for an extended family getaway. Plenty of bedrooms and a separate kids play area was great. It was nice to be able to sit altogether as an extended family for dinner and to play card games at night. We were greeted with Tim Tams and a lovely bottle of champagne! The garden was nice to explore briefly when it wasn't raining. The toaster wasn't working but we were given a new one the next day by 9am for breakfast. There were a few lights and one of the DVD remotes that also didn't work. We were warned that the driveway was steep but it is not just steep it is too tight and the car scraped on the bottom and on the wheels as it was too long for the tight turns. The house had a bit of a wet dog smell when we first arrived but this settled once we sprayed it with the available air freshener. Overall we enjoyed the trip.

Deceiving photos and description of the house.

We arrived to a dirty and unkempt house and garden. The garage was full of water and mosquitoes everywhere in the house. Dirty carpets and broken furnitures. I took lots of photos and submitted complain to NSW Fair Trading under the new 2021 STRA Code of conduct . Stay away from this place.

Girls mountain getaway

We were really impressed with the accommodation, situated up in the tree tops. All the mod cons of home were available, beds were lovely and comfy and the heating was so good. My 82 year old Mum thoroughly enjoyed herself and was suitably impressed with the home and it’s surrounds. The driveway and steps leading to the house were quite steep, which may be a challenge for some. All in all, we had a wonderful time - thank you Daniel for allowing us to stay, as it enabled my sisters and I to have memorable time with Mum.

Great Mountains holiday house

Our extended family of 11 stayed in this lovely quirky property to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was classic Mountains accommodation in a great location - we walked from the house in multiple directions to enjoy the delights of the Blueys. We would definitely stay there again.

The Black Cockatoo is a unique property, totally private, bush setting just a short walk from Katoomba Street and Leura.
Katoomba is adjacent to the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Blue Mountains National Park. It is home to the iconic Three Sisters, Scenic World and many stunning bush walks. The neighbourhood is an eclectic mix of beautiful streets, great cafes, bars, restaurants, street art, antique shops and art galleries. Lovely Leura village is just a short drive or 20 minute walk away.

What makes this property unique

Set high in the tree tops our house has total privacy, and lots of different areas for a large group to relax in. Two generously sized decks, three balconies, the beautiful garden and the 1000m2 block of land next door. You feel like you are in the bush though just a short walk from Katoomba Street.
