Family Matters is a 5 bedroom, 5 bath, oceanfront beach house. With 2 king master bedrooms, 6 queen beds, 1 twin bed & a queen sofa sleeper. It is great for family & friend gatherings. Many families that visit include several generations and many of our guests return every year! It is very well maintained & located in a family friendly area.

A fishing Pier is a short walk north & there are several restaurants within walking distance in Surfside Beach.

There is a private pool, hit tub, & a boardwalk to the beach. The porch is a wonderful gathering place & has a beautiful ocean view. Beautiful ocean views from the 2 master King bedroom suites. Lots of fun things to do are close by including a large flea market, restaurants, shopping, water slides, kayaking, surfing, beach combing, & more.

Enjoy beautiful sunrises, jogs or walks on the beach & so many others fun activities.

Family Vacation 2025

We choose this house because of its location on the beach, outside amenities and size. Most things were as pictured and described. The host were great in working with us on our check in time. Since our main objective in vacation was to spend time with our grown children and our grandchildren we chose Family Matters. All in all we had a great vacation!!

Houses are very close together, for privacy reasons I would recommend a curtain or shade of some sort for sides on porch over looking ocean to provide more privacy. House was excellent for our needs, very clean and plenty of room,we had 10 people

Great Vacation Home

This was our 2nd time staying at Family Matters. Great spacious home with oceanfront pool. Very convenient for my 4 grandchildren. Conveniently located near River City Cafe! Highly recommend home!

Great spot

We stayed here with 3 families. 12 people in all and the location and house were perfect. Steps from the beach, pool to cool you off. Responsive owners. Looking forward to our next trip down.

Small Beach Wedding

The house was amazing. The pool and hit tub made for some great wedding pictures. We loved the house. Having a bathroom in each bedroom was great! The patio and short walk to the beach was perfect. We will definitely come back next year

Great house, great location!

We wanted a beachfront house with a pool close to shops and restaurants. Family Matters exceeded expectations. It’s a really nice house with plenty of room. The owners responded to questions quickly and were very helpful. We will definitely stay here again should we come back to Surfside!

Family vacation

House was perfect! The pictures for living room are deceiving. It’s much larger than the pictures show. Any issues we had or questions, Eric took care of immediately and responded to my messages quickly! The proximity to the ocean is perfect and we lucked out on perfect weather our whole vacation! I would totally recommend the ice cream shop on the pier. It’s amazing! Thank you for your accommodations!

Family Fun at the Beach

We are a family of fourteen and had an excellent stay. The house and property is the right size for us and everyone felt comfortable. There are six, small children as part of our group and they loved the pool, beach and walking North to get ice cream. This was our first trip to Myrtle Beach and Family Matters and we will definitely return. There are many things to do in the area and places to eat. Eric and Sara were helpful and answered all my questions prior to our arrival and made sure all is well throughout the trip. The house was clean and ready when we arrived so we could flow into vacation-mode immediately. Many thanks Eric!

Great location, lots of space, pool and hot tub!

Property was very spacious for our family! We loved that each bedroom had it's own bathroom. Plenty of open space in the kitchen and living room to spend time with family. Great location, nice pool and hot tub --- everything you want for a week at the beach! The kids loved the bunk hallway. Overall, the house was perfect but just a tad tired. The walk way to the beach is peeling with paint so the kids were scared of splinters and there was a wasp's nest under the steps that stung two adults. A few beach chairs were broken at the pool, no gas in the grill when we arrived, lots of sand in the pool and hot tub. We also had to make our own beds with sheets which I wasn't aware of. Check in and out was very easy. Would stay here again.

Great Beach House

Spent Labor Day week in Family Matters with 8 adults and 8 grandchildren 5 and under. House was large enough to accommodate everyone without any inconvenience. Mikki checked on us mid-week to make sure we were all good. The pictures don't give you a great feel for how roomy this house is. Plenty of space for large families! We enjoyed the deck for morning sunrises followed by evening relaxing and conversations after the kids were bedded down. They have pool service that cleaned the pool and trash service that emptied the canisters. Just go relax around the pool or amble over the boardwalk to the spacious beach. We do a large family vacation every 2 years and we look forward to booking this home again!!

Family Matters

The private pool was great. The pool maintenance person came 3 times while we were there for a week so the pool always looked fresh and clean. House is very spacious. The wifi worked great. Being oceanfront is definitely the best feature of this house. Each bedroom had a private bathroom which worked out wonderfully. The upstairs had 4 bedrooms and a sitting area with TV. The washer and dryer were located upstairs which was convenient. Ceiling fans and TV in all bedrooms and family room. The upstairs had a separate thermostat control than from downstairs. Just a few recommendations: Need more than 1 key when multiple people are staying. Need to go through the kitchen and get rid of some things. Cupboards are cluttered and things are mismatched. New pots and pans would be a good idea. Owner did offer to reimburse me if we went to a local store and purchased new skillets, but we only had a couple days left so we didn't do that. Pool lights did not come on until around 9pm but it got dark around 7:15 - 7:30pm. Could not get the gas grill to work. Porch facing the ocean was a little crowded with furniture. Family room could use more seating. The 2 couches are awesome but when you have more than 4 people staying it doesn't work very well. We would definitely rent Family Matters again in the future. The owners were awesome and called us to make sure everything was going ok. We were there 2 weeks after Hurricane Matthew and the place was cleaned up and ready when we arrived. The house was clean , the kitchen was well stocked, lots of dishes, etc, but does need a shrimp boil deep pot. Beds were clean, but no extra blankets in closet and mattress cover and fitted sheets came off the mattress every night. Perhaps deeper sheets would help.Eric was very accessible by text, and gave answers quickly.Our family had a lovely stay and enjoyed it very much!

This is our second stay here at Family Matters. The location is an A plus! The new walkway to the beach is great and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook all our meals (too many of us to go out!) We made some great memories with our 4 children, their spouses and our 8 grandchildren.

Family Matters was a great place for our family trip of 8 (6 adults, 2 kids). Check in could not have been easier with all details provided before our arrival. The quick walk to the beach was perfect for the mornings, and the pool quickly became our afternoon hangout spot. We enjoyed the view from the porch which was larger than expected. The house was clean and the kitchen is well supplied for preparing family meals. Overall the house was as advertised although we wish it had been more clear that both master bedrooms were upstairs. Eric is a very responsive host - all in all, it was a wonderful stay!

Paradise!

Family Matters is a cozy and beautiful home with all the amenities you need on a vacation with a large group. The balcony provides a gorgeous view of the beach and it is a quick walk across the private access bridge to the sand. The pool and hot tub offer a great way to relax when the sand gets too hot. A beautiful trip to paradise!

Spring Break Relaxation

This place was amazing. We had 16 people. Perfect location for all of us. We rented a golf cart, but its easily walkable to the Pier and the restaurants. The pool and hot tub were fantastic and made for a wonderful week! Highly recommend this place and the owner is extremely responsive and helpful! Love that this area is not super crowded during spring break.

Our favorite travels were always beautiful beaches (originally from Ohio & North Carolina, we even got married on the beach in Myrtle Beach, SC), and we fell in love with Surfside Beach, as you get the best of both worlds – close to the city with tons to do, but also remote enough for uncrowded beaches and a place to rest & recharge with beautiful ocean views & sunrises. We are so happy to be able to share our home, Family Matters, with you and hope you enjoy your stay here and make many memories with your loved ones to take back home with you!
