Hideout just out of Sanibel & Ft Myers Beach traffic Private heated pool
11332A Summerwinds Ct, Ft Myers FL 33908 Grandma and Grampa's private oasis. My Uncle Dean Hendryx picked this duplex 3/4 of the way down Summerwinds Court(11332A) cul de sac because it's close to Ft Myers Beach(4.3 miles) and Sanibel Island(9 miles). San Carlos Boulevard and Summerlin Road intersection are just a few blocks away. The pool is open with a new screen room.-See the 2025 walkthru video.

This comes with Dish TV and great WIFI. But you're not stuck in bumper to bumper beach/bridge traffic. You can head a couple miles to the beach or head to shopping, golf, and inland attractions. Go ride the airboats. Deep sea fish. You can fly in and ride the trolley to the beach for 75 cents. The walk to the trolley behind Walmart is a pretty good hike. Maybe 6 blocks? Walk to the ice cream shop or breakfast restaurants. When we inherited the property Dean had shown my family all the possibilities for Spring training Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins baseball, biking, wildlife watching, shelling, boating, golfing, airboat rides, seafood restaurants and that head bobbing Reggae music. The new Margaritaville is 4 miles down and huge. We boated to islands and shelled where few people go. A deep sea boat called "The Getaway" took us on a relaxing deep sea fishing trip. And if you're a little wild, take the "Key West Express" on a fast ride to Key West for a day or two. Baseball spring training games with the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins. Check out the restaurants on the way to Sanibel.
When you're done come back to Summerwinds Hideaway. Cookout. Hang by the pool with the party lights and big tv. The neighborhood out front is "typical Florida". It's NOT a gated community. Excellent breakfast a few blocks away. There is a fence, trees and shed that provide some privacy
The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. A large living room with 2 couches all new. The master bedroom has it's own bathroom, tub and shower. The second bedroom has a new queen bed. The second bathroom by the pool has a nice shower. There's a washer, dryer and freezer in the utility room. This place works for a small family or maybe two couples. No pets are allowed. Bring charcoal and lighter fluid for the Weber grill.
If you are looking for an affordable place to venture out from, Summerwinds Hideaway may be just right for you! Only 25% of rent plus fees to reserve . Reserve your dates now!

About the host
Hosted by Gary W Skillestad Sr Owner/Manager

Gary W Skillestad is part owner/manager along with my sister Sue. We inherited this property from my Uncle Dean Hendryx and Aunt Beverly. They taught my family to love the mild weather and attractions of the Gulf Coast. After a commercial illustration career, creating and running a 3 location childcare center for 10 years and raising 4 children I'm looking forward to retirement years. I now have a girlfriend, four granddaughters and am on social security. But it looks like I'll continue to work for awhile. I've started GWSkilly's Insurance for Medicare & other licensed in WI, MN, IL, IA, NC, & FL.. Therefore, come share our duplex. Take care of it and have a blast. Call with any questions.
Why they chose this property
My father Wayne Skillestad started out by retiring in a modest mobile home in nearby Indian Creek Park. It had great amenities but was cramped and scary during storms. Uncle Dean was also there. But Dean got the chance to move up into a more solid home. This gave us our roots in Ft Myers.
What makes this property unique
Central, convenient location to everything yet just out of the bumper to bumper beach life. You can even walk a couple blocks, get on a trolley and ride to the beach if you want. Great home base in Summer when rates are incredibly low. Look for your retirement dream property while staying here. Plenty of nearby seafood restaurants, bars, grocery stores, shops and great miniature golf places. Go see spring training for the Twins and Red Sox.
