River and coastal views. Seaton beach 5 min drive, Lyme Regis 10 mins.
This period semi-detached holiday cottage overlooks the beautiful Axe Valley and is just one mile from the popular holiday resort of Seaton, on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. It is located in the village of Colyford, which is a situated near the border of East Devon and West Dorset, just 7 miles from Sidmouth and 7 miles from Lyme Regis. The area is a quiet, peaceful location where you can get-away-from-it-all and relax amongst beautiful rolling countryside and lovely beaches. Colyford boasts a well stocked friendly village shop/PO/butcher, just a 5 minute walk, where you can go in for the morning papers and come out with a local pie for lunch and a bottle of wine for the evening. Buy some of the fantastic produce from the butcher for a barbecue in the garden or walk to of the 2 village pubs which both serve food. Bryher is a 5 minute walk to the Seaton Wetlands Centre where you can walk into Seaton and visit the Jurassic centre and ride the Seaton tram. There are plenty of attractions for young and not so young: Pecorama in Beer with its beautiful landscaping around their miniature steam railway is a must day out. Seaton has its own tram which you can see crossing the valley from the vantage point of the garden, you can even drive a tram if you book in advance. Bicton park, Escot and Killerton house all have something to offer and if you come in the autumn there will be a carnival in a Devon village somewhere to experience. Bryher is situated in a beautiful area where you can enjoy the local pleasures of walking the South West Coastal Path, fossil hunting at Lyme Regis, stopping for a fresh crab sandwich on Beer beach or a cream tea in Sidmouth after scouring the antique shops in Honiton for a bargain.

A beautiful property in the perfect location, close to Lyme Regis, Beer and many more. The house was lovely, so comfortable with a view to die for. We will be back! Thanks so much Stephanie for a wonderful week!
The property was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The garden was lovely, with seating. The property had beautiful views over Seaton. It was convenient for visiting Seaton, Sidmouth and Lyme Regis. Our hosts made us welcome, leaving milk, biscuits and wine for us.

Delightful cottage in idyllic location
Very comfortable and immaculate cottage with everything a guest could want or need in a beautiful location.
Great location, peaceful setting and lovely quaint cottage. Everything we hoped for for a short break away, despite the awful weather!
P.S. makes such a difference having a self catering property with decent wine glasses 😃🍷. The little touches make a difference!
Very welcoming with excellent facilities (beds, bath, washing machine, tv).
Lovely garden and view. Photos don’t do it justice.
Walking distance to beautiful nature reserve.
10 minutes drive to Lyme Regis.
Would definitely recommend.

Splendid place in a beautiful surroundings
For the third time we (a young couple from the Netherlands) were at Bryher and we still love it! The house is very well eguiped and tidy. The beds and the bathroom are very good. The view at the front is beautiful. In the area is a lot to do, like walking along the coast at Beer and hunting for fossils at Lime Regis. The Wheelwright Inn is at walking distance. We can certainly recommand the place: it is a perfect place to spend your holliday.
We had a great few days in the Easter holiday and wished we have booked for longer.
Bryher cottage is very spacious for a two bedroom property and the pics do not do it justice. Nice size kitchen leading to the dining room and a spacious living area looking out to the fields and coast at the rear.
Very clean and well equipped.
Excellent location to explore Beer, Seatown, Sidmouth etc and the village itself was lovely with a cracking little pub (The Wheelwright) just 5 mins walk from the cottage.
We would definitely recommend and hope to come back soon.

Wonderful cottage with fabulous views
We stayed at Bryher in Colyford over Easter and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage was clean and well-maintained and very charming.
It has everything you need and lots of extras, so we were very comfortable in this delightful vacation spot. The owners, who live right next door, are very nice, and provided several welcoming touches, including a nice box of chocolates. The most unforgettable thing about this cottage is the views over the Axe Valley and down toward the sea.
i could stand at the bedroom or dining room windows for hours just enjoying the peaceful scene. (The photos can't do it justice.) There is a lovely large garden, which came complete with a very proud pheasant who liked to sit on our garden wall or sometimes on the picnic table.
There is a little village shop just a few hundred yards up the road for basics, and several towns within 5 - 10 minutes drive with supermarkets and lots of other shops. The owners are very good sources for restaurant and activity information, and there is a drawer full of brochures and other information in the cottage. I also enjoyed a day trip to Exeter (less than an hour by train) for a dose of city shopping and an excellent museum on the history of the area.
I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a country getaway, and will certainly stay there again.

Home From Home
We arrived to find the property beautifully warm and welcoming, with a fire laid ready for us in the lounge. The house was really clean and tidy with lots of little extras which were very much appreciated. Hand wash and lotion in the bathroom and kitchen. Napkins, candles and tissues for our use along with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits which were just what we needed after a long journey. We loved the fact that the house had been decorated very tastefully for Christmas and the real tree in the lounge was just perfect. The property has wonderful views over fields to the sea in the distance. The garden was totally safe for our dog and they even had an outside tap to wash her down. There were lots of books, games etc for us to use and we loved relaxing in front of the romantic fire on really comfortable sofas. The main bedroom overlooks the fields with the sea on the horizon. We were lucky enough to see a badger meander out as well as deer in the field one morning. There was an amazingly friendly little shop just down the road, an easy 5 minute walk. It sold an array of interesting items and even had fresh bread and croissants. It was also a Post Office with the added benefit of having a local butchers within its premises. No need to go to the local town for food although there is a large Superstore in Seaton. There are lovely walks locally and Colyford is within easy reach of Seaton, Beer and Lyme Regis which are all local seaside towns. If you fancy eating out there are numerous places to eat and there are recommenations in the "Information File" at the house. We had a wonderful time here and our daughters, both in their early 20's joined us for our last day and night. They also enjoyed their time here.
We would definitely return to this property as it is a home from home rather than just a clean empty house and has the added advantage of being in the countryside whilst being less than 10 minutes drive from the coast.
The cottage was delightful and very comfortable. The host was very helpful and a nice touch was leaving binoculars for guests use which was really nice when looking out of the beautiful garden across the open field and the sea at Seaton.
Definitely recommended for a quiet escape away. Great location.
We really enjoyed our stay at Bryher. It is a lovely cosy cottage with everything you need. Very clean and comfortable with a fabulous Rayburn range that was easy to use. Really comfy beds and a beautiful view over the fields to Seaton Wetlands. We had a lovely welcome pack with lots of treats. Bryher felt like a lovely hug!
Just on the way home from a wonderful stay at Bryher. Cottage was great - kitchen had everything we needed, beds were very comfy, garden was beautiful and the views are absolutely amazing. Really good selection of games and DVDs for rainy days. Internet connection was quite temperamental, so probably not good enough for streaming - but guess this may be an issue with the area generally, rather than the cottage specifically. Such a quiet and tranquil setting made it a very relaxing place to stay. It is also a great place to explore the local area from. Lots of lovely beaches and coast walks nearby, the seaton wetlands sanctuary is a few minutes walk away, or you can get the tram to seaton or colyton.
We were all sad to be leaving this morning, and the kids have already asked if we can come back next year!
Very peaceful setting and wonderful base for exploring the Jurassic coast
Very comfortable and extremely well stocked house. Everything one could need is provided. Beautiful view and garden and good base to explore the coastline. Important to have car for transport.
Wonderful house, beautiful walks , stunning views, just what was needed for a relaxing break, short walk to the wetlands, short drive to seaton , lyme regis, beer and sidmouth .. only thing I would change would be we would stay longer. Wonderful welcome treats a homely stay, with an open fire , everything you need just amazing !!!
Thank you so much. We have had the best few days. The photos do not fully portray the beauty of Bryher. It is so warm, cosy and comfortable with a stunning view. We will definitely be returning.
We stayed in Bryher for only 1 week. Bryher is a wonderful old house in lovely surroundings. The house is well equiped and really comfortable. Out of the window you have a wonderful view to the Seaton marshes. In a few minutes you reach the Natur Reserve with a lot of different birds. There are different little towns close to Colyford. e.g. Beer, Lymes Regis, Seaton, etc. We also visited the big Abbotsbury Swannery and the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth. We drived to Durdle Door as well. Colyford has its own butcher and a little shop. In the Pub Wheelwright Inn you get very good food. On Saturday 28th of September we had the opportunity to go to the 40th Medieval Goose Fayre in Colyford. Stephanie and Martin allowed us to stay longer in Bryher to join the Goose Fayre. We enjoyed very much the Goose Fayre. We had a wonderful week in Bryher. Thank you to Stephanie and Martin for wine, milk and cookies when we arrived. Thank you for allowing us to stay longer in Bryher. We will come back to Bryher and Colyford. Regards, Claudia and Wolfhard
We really loved the cottage and its surroundings, there is so much to do and see. The comfort and cosiness are top. The shop and post office around the corner are an asset, the quality of the butcher is just great, Stephanie and her husband are really nice, we felt very welcome.
We had a wonderful week, great views from all windows of this characterful cottage. Comfortable beds and proximity to great beaches made for a lovely holiday for the whole family.
We had a wonderful week at Bryher with wonderful weather and such beautiful scenery. The house was well furnished and very comfortable. Excellent location but you do need a car to make exploring that much easier. My Mum came on holiday with us who is visually impaired, and at 81 she found the bath too difficult to access. The property could be enhanced perhaps with a stool and shower curtain for the slightly older person ! Lottie our tibetan terrier also had a fab time and we would not hesitate to return.

About the host
Hosted by Stephanie Sawer
We moved to East Devon 28 years ago and have raised our family here. It is a beautiful part of England as the climate is mild and the pace of life is slower. We bought and renovated Bryher 22 years ago and have had guests staying and enjoying the surroundings since then. Many of our guests are repeat visitors who enjoy the opportunity to relax and refresh in a comfortable house.
Why they chose this property
Bryher is situated in a beautiful part of the Jurassic Coast. It looks out over farmland with uninterrupted views along the river Axe to the sea at Seaton. A 5 minute walk will bring you to Seaton wetlands, an area for quiet contemplation and a haven for twitchers where you can ride the tram to Seaton or Colyton. It is easy to get to the seaside towns and 5 beaches in the immediate area and for more culture or shopping then Exeter is just a 40 minute drive.
What makes this property unique
Bryher is conveniently situated close to the sea at Seaton (1 mile away), yet its village location gives easy walking access to the 2 village pubs which offer food. The friendly, well stocked corner shop with deli, post office and butcher's shop supports local farmers offering tasty produce. Seaton also has a gym with daily membership and water sports from the local beaches in the summer months.
