Location very convenient to tourist and non-tourist areas. New to city so was a little tricky to find. Our host was gracious enough to come find us. When booking did realize this unit was on the 5th floor. No elevator in building was a bit challenging with luggage and 75yr old mother . Overall was an enjoyable stay.
We didn't even stay here because prior to arriving, we received irate angry communication from their staff. We were on the train headed to Venice when we reached out via text. Ernst told us to reach out to Michele told us to text Annalisa who flipped out on us via text in all caps and exclamation marks. She said she tried to reach out days prior via text and email (which is our bad, I didn't have access to this phone or email), but we were still within the check in window - it said on the listing you could pick up the key from noon-8pm (we were texting her around 4 that day). For $400+ I don't need to receive the following communication... I quote:
we wrote: 'What does that mean? Yes we can get into the apartment? What is self check in? We have a time frame of 2-8pm to check in.'
she wrote: ' YOU have to agree the apointment!!!!!!!!!! it's written everywhere. You have to go get your keys by yourself and get to the apartment. You have to go get your keys by yourself and get to the apartment by yourself following my instructions. 1- end me in this chat the pictures of all you please. This is compulsory because I have to send the information to the police. I will write to you again with the information after I have received the documetns. THE KEYS ARE NOT IN THE APARTMENT BUT IN PIAZZALE ROMA, FIRST COLLECT THE KEYS AND THEN GO TO THE APARTMENT. Because I won't be available all day, it's better that you send me the documents quickly.'
Ok, hold up- I work in hospitality and this is not how you treat people. We stopped communication then and there and just booked a hotel. I'm sure she was out having a lovely Saturday and was pissed to have to work at the last minute but it's still her job. And the fact that there are 3+ people working on this one room, passing us around, seemed weird and shady. I'll be fighting this charge and would recommend NOT using these people. My suggestion, just book a hotel where people are actually friendly and polite.

It seems to be natural to have to make an appointment to get the keys: an appointment is not needed only in case there is a person all day waiting for the arrival of a Prince - Unfortunately, it is not natural for everyone and we have to include it in the booking conditions, frankly it seems to me it is ridiculous what we have to do because of someone's fault - In this case the fault is the client, who as he says 1) did not turn on the phone for three days 2) did not check emails for three days 3) and above all did not communicate any arrival time - What do we have to do to give you the keys? - It also seems that this person does not know what it costs to rent for 4 people a hotel in the historic center of Venice, with a canal view, and of a superior class like this apartment - The incredible thing is that instead of thanking that we made all possible attempts for 3! days she complains, which is after all very common on the Internet
