The Granary, Little Howle Farm. Luxury Holiday Cottages near Ross on Wye
The holiday lets are configured around a pretty courtyard. Because of the design, each home gets privacy. Little Howle Farm dates back to the early 1800's so all the buildings have thick stone walls, which in the winter hold the heat and in the summer keeps them lovely and cool inside. We are no longer a working farm, what were once working barns are now beautiful holiday lets.
The Granary is a traditional stone cottage. It is well equipped, in every sense. It is a perfect place to come back to at the end of a busy day exploring this amazing area. The Granary has two large, double bedrooms, both with luxury ensuite bathrooms. Each bedroom can be configured with a king size bed or two single beds. The bathrooms both include a large bath, a separate shower, shower gel and White Company bubble bath. We provide cotton bedding, luxury fluffy bath sheets, hand towels, flannels and bath mats. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor, making it ideal for guests who may struggle with stairs. The other is up a short flight of stairs. The living area is on the ground floor. There are exposed wooden beams, a comfortable lounge area, with a smart TV and gas log effect burner and a back door leading to the enclosed private courtyard garden. A breakfast bar separates the kitchen area from the lounge. The kitchen is fully equipped with hob, oven, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. To the right of the kitchen area we have a table and chairs. We provide tea towels, dish cloths/sponge, oven gloves and apron as well as cleaning products. There are games, puzzles, local information, suggested walks and OS maps provided. The private courtyard garden directly to the rear of The Granary is a lovely sheltered place to sit. There is a table & chairs, sun parasol and firepit. We can also provide a BBQ if guests request it. We invite our guests to use the rear garden, which includes a barbeque and fire pit area, a large lawned area and a sun terrace at the top of the garden over looking the Malvern Hills. There is very little light pollution in Howle Hill so the terrace is perfect for star gazing. There is plenty of on site parking is available to the rear of the barn. We have a laundry room should guests need it (payable separately).
Howle Hill is a tiny settlement, too small to be called a village! It is very quiet here. Many guests describe it as a haven and often comment how well they sleep and how relaxed they feel here. We are perfectly placed between the Wye Valley and The Forest of Dean. A 5 minute drive from Ross on Wye with its many pubs, restaurants, shops and watersports on the river Wye. A 10 minute drive in the other direction takes you into The Forest of Dean.
We provide a welcome pack which includes Milk, local fruit juice, Weston's cider, cake, tea, coffee and sugar.
We have 3 holiday lets, providing accommodation for a maximum of 10 guests at any one time. Acorn Cottage can be linked internally with Rivington Barn which creates a 3 double ensuite bedroom property to sleep 6. The Granary sleeps 4,

A very comfortable and well appointed cottage with great attention to details.
Most welcoming hosts and a peaceful location in lovely countryside providing a great base for either relaxing or exploration. Highly recommended.
Amanda and Derek are charming hosts and created a wonderfully warm welcome for us at Little Howle Farm. The Granary cottage is beautifully furnished and the location is everything you'd want if you're looking for peaceful seclusion and breathtaking contryside.
Thanks both for a really restful stay.

Excellent place to stay
We arrived on Boxing Day, 2 hours earlier than expected but was greeted by Amanda and was shown around the Granary accommodation. She explained in detail where everything was and how it worked, a really nice touch was the Xmas present that (Santa) had dropped off for our 4 year old granddaughter on her bed.
The Granary was extremely well presented and all items you would require were to hand, another lovely touch was the breakfast for the next morning all ready with hand written notes, also a fresh baked loaf was dropped at the door at 0800hrs.
Amanda & Derek we’re excellent hosts even at 8 o’clock on New Year’s Eve came around with some mistletoe, all in all I would highly recommend staying at this property if touring the area or want a quite time away. We will be returning in the summer months for a long weekend to see more of the attractions and beautiful area of the Forest of Dean.
Amanda & Derek a big thank you from all my family for hosting us over the new year period and the thoughtful little things you did for our granddaughter 😁👍

This was by far the best holiday let we have stayed in for many years. Everything worked well, the fittings were first class, beds comfortable, internet fast, heating excellent, showers hot and powerful. Derek and Amanda wonderful hosts..
Great property in a lovely area. Property well resourced and was really good for a pensioner with mobility issues. Views from Symonds Yat were breathtaking and a great base for visiting Wales.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay at The Granary, . It was just perfect for us, it had every we needed and more. Amanda and Derek are great hosts.
Lovely cottage with everything we could need for our stay. The layout is perfect with two en-suite bathrooms, a lounge and kitchen area. It was a shame the weather wasn’t better so that we could enjoy the outdoor garden area.
Lovely touch from Amanda with the scones which were much appreciated. Thank you!
A really nice property in a quiet country location close to Ross-on-Wye. Nice spots to sit in the sun with a glass of wine. Accommodation is just as the pictures show and the hosts are very helpful and friendly. Thoroughly recommended. (Just be aware, as expected, there are no shops/pubs/restaurants etc. within walking distance).
Everything we could have hoped for, delightful hosts!
Property is high spec with lovely views and nice patio garden.
Great location to explore Wye Valley and Forest of Dean.
Highlights are 1) rental canoeing on Wye, stunning scenery, accessible to all ages, 2) Forest of Dean Cycle centre, like a mini ski resort for mountain biking, with beginner, intermediate a dceasy family loops. But also days out at local castles and towns (Ross and Monmouth).
Hosts adorable and lovely interesting and well travelled folk. Not intrusive, just friendly and open. Made us delicious scones and invited us to feed neighbouring farms lambs!!! Heart warming!!!
We stayed in the Granary, a delightful cottage that was comfortably furnished to a high standard and very well equipped. There were many thoughtful touches, both inside and out. The hosts were great, and nothing was too much trouble. This was the perfect area for getting away from it all with numerous walks, both close by, and further afield. Ross on Wye was very appealing during the festive season.
The property was easy to find, in a beautiful area. It was very comfortable, clean and very well equipped. The hosts were fabulous and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. It was hard to leave and would definitely visit again
From the moment we arrived Amanda was a joy. She made us feel at home straight away and made a daily fuss of our daughter. She went far in excess of what you image a host to do on a number of occasions. The cottage is high spec and comfortable, with all the equipment you require for a weeks self catering. The area is quiet, but great location for the Wye Valley region. We would recommend it to everybody.
We stayed in The Granary for a week this summer, the cottage, location and hosts Amanda and Derek were all lovely. We really appreciated their friendly, personal approach, happy to give advice and recommendations as well as delicious scones and a welcome bottle of wine! Thank you for having us to stay at Little Howle Farm 😊
The whole property is beautifully thought through and executed, with design that doesn't compromise on form or function and lovely details wherever you look.
Amanda was a lovely and thoughtful host, and we felt very welcome and treated like friends.
The area is stunning, and we had the break we really needed, with rest, relaxation, beautiful views and an active day canoeing on the Wye.
Derek and Amanda are fantastic hosts. They went above and beyond.
The Granary was beautifully done to a very high standard and had absolutely everything you would need for an enjoyable holiday. The beds were so comfortable.
Summons yat was a lovely place to visit and also Monmouth.
There is a lovely river walk in Ross on Wye and there are also some lovely shops.
We will definitely be back and hopefully I will be able to fit some crafting in with Amanda.
Oh, I can’t write a review and not mention the delicious scones and lemon drizzle cake that Amanda made for us. They were the lightest scones I have ever tasted,
Thank you Amanda.
Our 2nd time at Little Hole Farm and had a fantastic time. Derek and Amanda are the perfect hosts - more like friends. Everything was spotless and the property is beautiful and has everything you could wish for. We're already planning our next visit.
Book and stay - you won't be disappointed!
We were looking for something special - and this property really delivered the ‘wow’ factor. Everything looked brand new and the cleanliness was exceptional. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful - with so much thought going in to making our stay special. We will return!

About the host
Hosted by Pam And Geoff Manwaring
We are originally from Kent. We saw this amazing property, then managed to buy it! We absolutely love it here. We have always worked with people and really enjoy meeting our guests and doing our best to make sure their stay is what they want it to be. We are both practical people and enjoy crafts, socializing and sports.
Why they chose this property
We love that Little Howle Farm is so calm and peaceful. It's great to be by the river with people, or in town in a busy pub, then home to our beautiful spot, with only cows and sheep for neighbours!
What makes this property unique
Everyone comments on how well the barns have been converted and to such a high standard. We have many returning guests. We don't offer hot tubs and busy bars, what we offer is somewhere to relax, reconnect with family and friends and recharge.
