Kirkstone Cottage.

Lovely well equipped cottage in an excellent location. Clean and very comfortable bed. Parking space is a bonus for Ambleside. Would recommend this property to others.

Great place!

Everything was great. It was just steps from the center but quiet at night. I’d stay again in a heartbeat!

Christmas at Kirkstone Cottage Ambleside

Location of the cottage to town was great, bars and restaurants within 50m highly recommended, downside was the traffic on a very busy roundabout and very noisy cars. The cottage is quaint but ideal for two. Interior needs a full renovation, not just a spring clean, it needs decoration, renovation and the majority of the furnishings replacing by the next owners. The interior furnishing let this location down, having read many reviews I don’t hold my breath as the sofa has been in need of replacing for at least 2 years. Sort the damp, mould and furnishings out at this would have been a 4/5 rating.

I'm sorry to see you were not entirely happy with your stay at Kirkstone. The owners have had the chimney and roof work done at the end of October. The owners will be decorating early next year once the chimney breast has completely dried out. Whilst there currently is evidence of old damp patches, these are no longer damp or mouldy and will be addressed once decorated. We hope you enjoyed your stay despite this and we can welcome you back to one of our cottages again in the future.

Kirkstone Cottage Ambleside

This is the fourth time that we have stayed in this quaint little cottage. The cottage itself is equipped with everything you need for your stay. The location is excellent with shops, pubs and restaurants only a short walk away. The cottage has an allocated parking space which is large enough for a medium sized car. There is a steep step down in order to access the cottage which needs to be considered for people with mobility issues.

The perfect welcome.

Checking in at 3pm 1st December to be met with a tastefully decorated Christmas tree in the lounge window, similarly decorated mantelpiece and alcoves immediately set the tone. Whoever was instrumental in this should be applauded! So really from there everything was going to be good and we weren’t disappointed. The cottage is very tastefully appointed, notably window blinds and wall art. The bedding is fantastic, enabling wonderful rest. We expected a little early morning traffic noise due to the super convenient location and main road position but Upvc double glazing and general comfort dealt with this admirably. Private parking in this location is another big plus and 50m to the ‘Golden Rule’ needs a mention. This was our first booking with Cumbrian Cottage Holidays and the whole process was friendly and very professional. Big shout out to Gail and of course the secret Christmas tree fairy! Well done to all concerned.
