Standing peacefully in one of the prettiest villages in Britain, this delightful single-storey holiday cottage was originally an old farm building. With thick stone walls and a lovely wood burner, visitors can be cosy throughout the entire year. Furnished with great care and attention to detail, the cottage has a very well-equipped kitchen/dining room, a comfortable, spacious living room and two beautifully coordinated bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room. All on one level but, please note that it is not specifically designed for people with mobility problems. From the garden, a private pathway leads towards the village of Thornton-le-Dale, with its beautiful cottages with country gardens and a babbling brook running alongside the street. Within a short walk from the cottage, the highly picturesque village is centred on a tiny triangular green with its market cross and stocks, and an interesting selection of shops, inns and tearooms. The North York Moors and Dalby Forest provide fantastic opportunities for walking, cycling, nature watching and stargazing. The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway runs from Pickering, which travels through stunning scenery to the fishing port of Whitby. Family fun can be found at Flamingo Land and Go Ape Treetop Adventure in the Dalby Forest. Robin Hood’s Bay, Scarborough and the Yorkshire Wolds are all within a 30-minute drive. York with its Minster, museums and historic centre can also be reached within a 30-minute drive. Beach 15 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

NEWSTEAD COTTAGE WAS VERY WELL PLACED FOR TOURING THE AREA.
NEWSTEAD COTTAGE WAS VERY WELL PLACED FOR TOURING THE AREA. WE HAD TO REARRANGE THE KITCHEN EQUIPMENT SO IT WORKED BETTER FOR US , ALSO THE LIGHTING AS IT WAS NOT GREAT. I LEFT SEVERAL ISSUES WE HAD ENCOUNTERED IN THE BOOK PROVIDED. NOTHING MAJOR AND NOTHING THAT CANNOT BE PUT RIGHT IF THE OWNERS CHOOSE TO DO SO. THE MAIN ISSUE WAS THE KITCHEN TABLE WHICH HAD SUCH BIG CRACKS IN THAT FOOD HAD LODGED IN THEM, THIS WAS NOT ONLY UNSIGHTLY BUT IT WAS A POTENTIAL BACTERIAL PROBLEM. I WAS RUNG BY THE OWNER WHILST ON MY WAY HOME AS SHE WAS SURPRISED AT THE ISSUES RAISED. IF OWNERS DO NOT WANT TO CONFRONT ANY PROBLEMS, THEN DON'T INVITE THEM. I MADE IT CLEAR THAT THESE THINGS HAD NOT SPOILED OUR HOLIDAY.

We found Newstead Cottage had everything you could possibly want and attention to detail was better
We found Newstead Cottage had everything you could possibly want and attention to detail was better than any hotel. It was clean, comfortable and home from home. The welcome gift of tea, milk, biscuits, crisps and even a bottle of wine was much appreciated. There is a private garden again with everything thought of with a choice of seating. sun umbrella etc. The local village is so pretty with a good range of pubs, cafes, fish and chips and ice cream. A good base for touring the Moors and surrounding area - we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and it was the cottage that made it special as we felt so at home there. Would highly recommend it.

A lovely, spacious, well equipped, clean and comfortable cottage.
A lovely, spacious, well equipped, clean and comfortable cottage. The welcome pack (including the wine) was a lovely touch. The garden was a delight to sit in. The cottage is in a good location for trips to the coast or to York. The neighbours were friendly. We would recommend this cottage and hope to return again one day.
