This very spacious, ground floor apartment has modern fixtures and fittings, yet all in keeping with the original themes. The apartment also has large private terrace which boasts superb views to the coast. A beautiful Victorian-style bedroom awaits you with sumptuous linen and drapes, an original window shutter and French period-style chandeliers. Unwind after a long day of exploration or beachcombing in the roll-top bath, or relax in the living room which has two stylish-but-comfy sofas, mood lighting and a telescope, perfect for taking a closer look at the breathtaking sea views. The apartment is situated within Sneaton Hall, a sympathetically restored, Grade II listed Georgian manor house. This is a romantic and relaxing retreat, with unrivalled, stunning views of Whitby, the Abbey headland and out to sea.
Whitby has so much to offer all year round and is a very popular place to visit with its many festivals and events, such as the Folk Festival, the Whitby Regatta and the bi-annual Goth Weekend. There is a large selection of pubs offering live music, good food or a quiet drink, quaint antique and gift shops, and famous fish and chip shops nestled amongst the cobbled back streets and main shopping areas. The local tour bus is an excellent way of visiting some of Whitby’s highlights, including the stunning abbey and St Mary’s Church, positioned on the cliff top where you can enjoy spectacular views over Whitby and out to sea.
There are many pretty resorts dotted along the coast, including Sandsend, Runswick Bay, Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay, which are great for exploring our maritime history, including Captain James Cook, smugglers and pirates. There are water sports, surf schools and even whale watching trips to be found along the coast. The North York Moors National Park and surrounding area is a haven for walkers and cyclists, and many walks can be accessed from your doorstep, including the Cleveland Way, a riverside walk along the River Esk and a lovely coastal walk along the Cinder Track between Whitby and Scarborough, via Robin Hood’s Bay.
Travel by steam train into the heart of ’Heartbeat’ country, or take a fishing trip out to sea on one of the many boat trips that leave the harbour. Falling Foss Waterfall, Roseberry Topping and Sutton Bank are just some of the natural beauty attractions in the area, whilst the medieval walled city of York is just an hour’s drive or train ride away with its National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre, or just explore the medieval cobbled shopping area. The traditional seaside town of Scarborough is just along the coast with its open-air theatre offering a host of summertime concerts and two large bays of contrasting styles. Beach 3 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
