About this property

Waterside, Wiveton, Norfolk

Waterside is a beautifully sweet, flint fronted detached bungalow, set in a glorious private garden in the rural location of Wiveton. Within easy walking distance of the two popular coastal villages of Cley-next-the-Sea and Blakeney, the North Norfolk coastal path, and an award-winning gastro pub, this hideaway is wonderfully dog friendly too.

As soon as you walk into the front door of Waterside you will realise you have made the perfect choice for your holiday. The bungalow is all on one level (although there are steps within the garden) and evokes the feeling of your very own private, welcoming and peaceful country house hotel. Decorated and furnished in a relaxing and sophisticated, low key style, the sociable living areas are spacious, and the four inviting bedrooms (one king, two super-king/twin and a twin) all come dressed in top quality bed linen and have seriously comfortable mattresses. The sitting room is a lovely light-filled room with windows to two sides, french doors to the front garden and a wood burning stove to light on chillier days. The open-plan L-shaped dining kitchen has a very well-equipped kitchen at one end, with full length windows and door leading out to the patio and garden, and dining area at the other where windows also overlook the rear garden. Half way between the two is a separate utility room with a further door to the patio. Waterside is enclosed by an east-west facing garden. The rear garden is where you will want to spend most of your time. Here you can enjoy an outdoor lunch sat on the large curved patio overlooking the spacious lawned area below.

Wiveton is a pretty hamlet of detached houses and cottages, just a mile south of the main coastal road that runs between Blakeney and Cley-next-the-Sea - both of which are within reasonable walking distance of Waterside. In Cley you will find tea rooms, a couple of galleries, Cley Windmill where you can have a fabulous meal overlooking the marshes, and there's a super delicatessen to tempt your taste buds, which also sells fruit and veg. Blakeney, the bigger village of the two, has shops, galleries, pubs and The Blakeney Hotel (a must for afternoon tea), a small supermarket and a petrol station. So much so, it's now essential to book ahead in the height of summer! The Coasthopper bus services runs regularly along the coast road throughout the year and is a great way of visiting all the other coastal villages without the need to use your car.

Perfect

We stayed for Christmas and could not have asked for a better place. Location is great for dog walks, garden and frontage very spacious and peaceful. We saw a muntjac in the garden and lots of pheasants! Lounge and kitchen are great spaces to relax in, plenty of room yet very homely and charming. There is nothing I could fault at all and would love to go back.

Lovely house

This was our second stay. We loved the bungalow and surroundings so much that we decided to visit again. In fact we’ve booked to go back in June. The bungalow is very spacious and beautifully decorated throughout. The beds are very comfortable which makes all the difference when you’re away. Very well equipped. Lovely wrap around garden. Just a mile from Cley and Blackney with lovely walks. A bird watchers heaven. Our only suggestion is that there is only one shower. The bigger bathroom has a huge bath and it’s a shame a shower isn’t in the big bathroom as there is plenty of room. Looking forward to visiting again in June.

Beautiful house in rural surroundings

Second year of staying at Waterside with friends. The house is beautiful and very spacious. Cannot fault anything. We enjoyed the new log burner as it works so well. The local pub/restaurant is our favourite local spot. Many lovely walks around the property, like Cley and Blakeney. Loved exploring Holt too (around 15 minutes drive). We will come back no doubt.

Wonderful walking

Wonderful quiet village location with walks to Blakeney, Cley village and marshes from the door. Mature secluded gardens with goats next door! Very comfy beds and a stunning oval bath. We were toasty in October and barely needed the woodburner. Highly recommended.

Great accommodation

A wonderful property and with everything you could wish for at a high standard. Slight issue with drain in garden from kitchen which was overflowing with waste which was quite unpleasant.

8 of us came to Norfolk for a painting holiday and we were not disappointed. I had selected Waterside for its location - near Cley windmill, Burnam Ovary Staithe estuary, Blakeney mudflats and so on as ideal spots to paint. Also a property with accomodation for single residents. The weather was glorious and we produced lots of work. We ate out either at lunchtime or evening and were never disappointed with the local pubs and cafes. When we cooked at home in turns there was everything we could need, always suitable sized pans and dishes for catering for 8. We found only having one shower for all of us quite challenging! (the hand held one over the bath didn't seem to work efficiently|)Also I had asked several times before arrival that the large zip together beds be made into singles and we arrived to find only one of these had been made up that way. Two very good friends volunteered to share the large king sized and we didn't really want to ask housekeeping to come back in late in the afternoon, so we managed. Thank you so much for a delightful, comfortable holiday home. We all loved it.

A really relaxing place to stay

We always enjoy coming back to waterside, it is very quiet, big enough for the children, and not far from the beaches. It has all you need to relax, cook and chill out. The bedrooms and beds are very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, including all the herbs and spices that you could need!Every thing is ready for you to have an amazing holiday, thank you Norfolk Hidaways.

June visit

Very nice bungalow with lovely large private garden. Well equipped kitchen except no cafetiere. A few small things that disappointed sadly meant I can't give it top marks however I would go again.

Fabulous family Holiday

Waterside is located in a beautiful village setting and is conveniently situated near several beautiful beaches & towns. Cleaning was questionable clearly things are not moved when the house is being clean as lots of dust underneath tables, sofas & beds. However generally clean. Lovely decor but could do with a touch up here & there but nothing horrendous. It's a very cosy house. The garden says enclosed However there isside access which has no gate and lead to the front of the house which has large gate which dogs and children could easily get through. We would definitely return as had a fabulous family holiday.

Family Holiday in Wiverton

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Waterside, Wiverton. The property is in excellent condition and occupies a lovely secluded position. The main rooms: sitting room, kitchen & dining were a good size, well furnished and well equipped. The photographs and description were all accurate. Customer service was excellent in resolving one issue regarding bedding. If we could have wished for one thing to be different - it would be to have a second shower in the property, where the lovely main bathroom has ample space to accommodate this. A small criticism would be the very small supply of dishwasher tablets (2) and loo roll - nether of which were adequate for our 4 day stay, and did seem 'out of character' with everything else that was provided. All in all - it was excellent accommodation and we would be very happy to return.

A beautitul home.

We had such a great time at Waterside. The house is beautiful with plenty of space in the communal rooms. One of the bathroom is very large with a bath (no shower). The other bathroom could do with a modernised shower but was adequate enough. We could not fault the house and will most certainly come back. There are plenty of lovely villages scattered around. The Wiveton Bell pub is just 5 minutes walk and is definitely highly recommended.
