We were looking to escape the city and this little cottage was perfect! Great hosts, long walks around the property, collecting eggs on the way back for breakfast... what more could you ask for! Nothing fancy, just right to wind down and relax in the countryside.
Then owner put in a request for more money.
My first 1 star review anywhere but here we go.
We arrived early evening to find the dirt track flooded. You drive to the bottom of a very steep incline and a creek/stream runs across . This was flowing across the track. (The owner emailed 2 days before, stated ankle deep however this Is untrue for the time we were there). Given the unpredictable weather, the car load of us decided there’s no way we are crossing as we don’t have a 4wd(we don’t drive a kluger!) We called the owner to see if there was any other access and to advise we weren’t comfortable crossing. Given the fact we cannot afford to get stuck there (we have work the following day after trip) and the water is flowing. She said everyone crosses, no worries and it’s concrete. Definitely didn’t see any concrete, just mud and rocks.
After spending the day in the car, after we couldn’t access property and had to drive all the way home, later that night I kindly messaged the owner if she may consider refunding the cleaning fee and the pet fee. Given the fact we never even got near the property. To which she replied by saying how disappointed SHE was! She then requested further money, calling it an Easter minimum charge fee. I contacted stayz about this issue and told her I definitely would not be giving her another cent!
If you have a 4wd great if not I wouldn’t risk it and I believe she should clearly state the track floods in her original add.
I think the owner showed her true colours to us in the way she treated us. Never ever go as when it floods you will loose all your money. Terrible experience. Lost ALOT of money for 2 nights with an owner who then wanted more! Yuck.
I would love to add photos of the flooded track, her request for more money and all the fees she charges.
Go somewhere else not worth the trouble.
The property was better then expected and Fi and her team were so accommodating when we ran a little late. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a country retreat with all the comforts of home.
What a spot!! From a friendly owner to the spectacular sunsets, firepit fun, cozy cottage vibes. We will be back! Great we can bring our dog, the 3 kids all different ages throughly enjoyed the time. I just wish we were there for longer… thanks Fi for your hospitality
We had such a lovely time staying in the cottage at Odd Frogs. The property itself was fantastic.... well equipped and everything we needed for the weekend away. Location wise it was also fantastic.... our boys had a great time exploring the caves at the back of the property and there was great excitement when we even spotted a wombat. We also thoroughly enjoyed collecting the chicken eggs and Fi’s buggy rides around the property. We will be back!!
