Jen is lovely, and the cottage is amazing — perfect for us and our dog. The location is quiet, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful. She made sure we were having a beautiful stay.
Hi Kim, we are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and what beautiful weather you had too! We hope to welcome you back in the future. Thank you for being a lovely guest!
The cottage is small but beautifully appointed and comfortable, it was an absolute pleasure meeting Charlie the Border Collie on arrival, he even came to see us a couple of times which we enjoyed. We can highly recommend Sunset Cottage to anyone looking for a nice, quiet retreat but close enough to places like Byron Bay and Bangalow if you like to explore.
From the moment you unclick the gate to Sunset cottage you are greeted with a picturesque view (emphasised by the stunning sunset if you arrive later in the day). This private villa is a calm and relaxing retreat best for couples, paw families and individuals. From relxing on the balcony in front of the provided fireplace or soaking in the spa bath with the perfect country view, my partner and I found it very hard to not feel instantly relaxed and at home. And to top it off, the resident border collie Charlie is just the goodest boy!! Thanks Jen and Dave - you have quite the little paradise!
Jen and Dave have setup a lovely cottage which is very well located in the Byron Bay hinterland, to 'get away from it all' whilst still being able to get out and about to explore the area, enjoy Byron Bay and several small villages/towns in the area and what they have to offer (eg. Kiva Spa in Mullumbimby was a wonderful 'out-door-spa' experience, although quite popular on a Saturday mid-morning!)
The cottage is very well appointed and sufficiently private and secluded. The recently upgraded spa bath in front of the huge windows was a huge plus for weary souls!
Despite 3 solid days of terrible weather, we were totally comfortable in the cottage with some great TV options, some DVDs and a good but small collection of books. The facilities were more than adequate and we were able to self-cater very easily.
We would love to return again!

Dave & I are thrilled that our lovely guest Conan & his partner enjoyed the cottage, despite the rainy weather and we would be delighted to welcome their return in thee future. Take care Conan
Cute cottage in a quiet neighbourhood. Only 10 minutes or less drive to the beach. Loved the bath and view of the beautiful gum tree. We were thankful for the efficient aircon during such hot weather. The owner Jen who we only communicated with online responded quickly and was very kind. We definitely recommend the Sunset cottage for couples seeking peace and quiet. Being able to take our dog with us was also wonderful. Thank you Jen!
We had an extremely relaxing time away from the crowds in Byron Bay. Even though it was near another house we had no issues with lack of privacy.

PERFECT Cottage Getaway
Perfect getaway for my partner and myself. Very secluded, with an amazing view. Great way to unwind from a busy year and hectic work life. Scenery was amazing. Cottage located adjacent of the main house property, yet the way it was architecturally designed you would never realize your neighbors are around.
Would definitely come back again.

Great!
It looked EXACTLY like it did in the pictures, it was so beautiful, the view was lovely, such a great property. The only down sides were that there was no service which wasn't meantioned in the description, and the fact that is located downhill directly next to another house. The photo made it look more secluded which is what we wanted but unexpectly ended up next door to another house. Just felt a little bit uncomfortable at times as there were no blinds for some windows and when getting changed and being down hill, we were worried that the people living in the house next to us could see in. Other then that it was a beautiful property, the furnishing was modern and set out so lovely and the bathroom was awesome!!

The cottage is a very secluded private setting, as there is a very high long privacy fence between both the house & the cottage. Also the side of the cottage that is adjacent to the fence/house only has 1 very high small window that is tinted so no-one can see in. The other windows/glass doors in the cottage either have block-out blinds or they face the bush where no-one can walk past, so there is no issue with privacy at all. The privacy fence also blocks out any noise etc. We have never had any other guests complain or comment about privacy since the cottage has been letted out for 4 years & we have received more than 100 reviews.

As advertised!
The cottage was exactly as I expected based on the photos - if anything the photos didn't do it justice! The amenities were clean, the decor modern, and we loved how close it was to Byron Bay!

Peace and quiet....
Hubby and I had just on a week at Sunset Cottage. It was a great base for our Byron holiday. Loved the peace and quiet. Property is close to Byron and surrounding gorgeous small towns. Spacious and had everything we needed. Date we stayed was actually January 2016.

Nice Location
This is a lovely place to stay if you want to be near Byron Bay but not necessarily be in the thick of things. It's peaceful and quiet, and the cottage has lovely views of the hinterland. The accommodation was comfortable, and has an amazing shower and bath.
However, when we arrived it was an extremely hot day, and that cottage was an absolute hot box. We arrived after a long day of travelling and had groceries etc ready to unpack, but not even the refrigerator was turned on for us, nor the AC. It took about 3 hours for the place to be at a decent enough temperature to be comfortable - even the tiled floors were too hot to walk on barefoot.
Also, the place had not been properly cleaned - the bin in the bathroom had the rubbish from the previous tenants, including things I just don't want to see.
The wi-fi is questionable. This is great if you want to be contactable but if you do, be aware that phone reception and wifi isn't great.
Also, I'd say that the cottage is more like a 15-20 min drive out of Byron. I thought it was a lot closer with a description of 10 mins away - but it is further than that.
Lastly, the kitchen has the bare minimum of items but don't expect ample tea or coffee supplies on arrival. Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I would expect simple things like that for the price you pay. The kitchen facilities are cheap and not luxurious.

Thanks for your review Sarah. I'm sorry that it was a hot day when you arrived but we don't normally leave the A/C on for guests unless requested as guests arrive at all different times & don't usually tell us. Also it is not environmentally-friendly to leave the A/C running when no-one is at the cottage. I'm surprised to hear that it took 3 hrs to cool down as we have never experienced that, given the cottage is small & the A/C is new & very powerful so it usually only takes us about 10-15 mins to cool the cottage down. I'm sorry that the cleaners had not removed the rubbish in the small bathroom bin (we have spoken to them about that & I apologise again, but that was definitely a one-off as the cottage is usually impeccably cleaned). I agree the wi-fi is intermittent as is the mobile reception. This is the case in most parts, if not all of the Byron hinterlands & is in fact a characteristic most guests like, as they are coming to stay to get away from the stresses of being contactable 24/7. It is a 10 minute drive to the beginning of Ewingsdale rd (which is Byron Bay) and yes about 15 mins to the centre of town. This varies depending on the traffic. A starter pack of basic items such as toilet paper, tissues, water, milk, tea, coffee, olive oil, spices, hand wash etc is left for guests (as it mentions in the booklet). Once this is used it is expected for the guests to replenish these items for the duration of their stay, as is the case with most self contained accommodation. I note you stayed in December but didn't put a review on until February. I wished you had of contacted me with your concerns in the meantime, as I don't feel based on all the positive wonderful reviews we have received from guests, that a 3-star rating is fair.
