Stewart Cottage - vineyards getaway

Stewart cottage is situated in the heart of Pokolbin vineyards, five minutes' drive from Hunter Gardens, concert venues, and many wineries.

Stewart is a comfortable three-bedroom cottage with three queen beds; the bedrooms are en-suite. It has a large living and kitchen area with a fireplace and air-conditioning. The kitchen is fully equipped, and all linen is provided.

The cottage is kept meticulously clean by our long-term housekeeper.

A minimum of two guests is required for weekend bookings. We charge per guest.

Stewart cottage is an hour and forty-five minutes' drive from the beginning of the M1 Motorway (Pacific Highway) at Wahroonga, and an hour from the centre of Newcastle. Only five minutes' drive from many large wineries, it is quiet and secluded.

The cottage has views of the Brokenback Range from its verandah, and is within walking distance of neighbouring Audrey Wilkinson's vineyard. Nearby attractions include wine tasting, fine restaurants, galleries, horse riding, hot air ballooning, bushwalking, golfing and sky diving.

There is also a great variety of birds and other wildlife in the surrounding area, including kangaroos and wallabies.

Tranquil comfort

This little cottage is in the perfect spot. We all couldn’t believe how beautiful and quiet it was. So spacious, and large en-suites for all. Property was immaculately clean and tidy, comfortable beds and great amenities. Beautiful outlook on the deck even having return questions and remarks from friends on my socials where I posted a short clip of the deck view.

Spacious house but not very comfortable

We stayed a night here as a family group after attending a wedding nearby. First the positives... The house (Stewart Cottage) is spacious, and having an ensuite in every room was definitely good! The location is perfect - tucked away near Tulloch & Audrey Wilkinson wineries, very close to Hunter Valley Gardens. Downside was that it was very musty-smelling, all the bed linens and blankets were old and musty, the rooms were very cobwebby and in need of a thorough clean, and the windows screens were all quite loose & old which meant they rattled all night long in the wind. It's also a shame that there was no communication from the hosts at booking stage or afterwards about the check-in and check-out process. It wouldn't take much to send an email or something just confirming what to do on arrival. The information on Stayz said "your host hasn't provided any information yet about your arrival process". We had to call a few times the morning of arrival to get hold of someone and work out where we were supposed to go.

Great Hunter Getaway
