Sun Trippin' is an oceanfront vacation home located on a private gravel road in beautiful South Nags Head. This wonderful Outer Banks vacation home is perfect for family gatherings! There's a large oceanfront furnished deck where families can watch the sunrise in the morning and relax together in the afternoon after a day on the beach. If there is a surfer in your group, there is a great surf break just out from the home. An updated, fully equipped kitchen and cozy dining area brings everyone together for meal time. Cook up an unforgettable seafood feast, or grill some burgers on the park-style grill. You won't even mind doing the dishes because there's an ocean view from the sink! The great room features a flat screen TV, and three of the bedrooms have flat screen TV's. Abundant deck furniture, a picnic table and a swing under the home round out this great gem.

South Nags Head Is one of the most desirable vacation communities on the Outer Banks. It is popular for it's natural beauty, outstanding fishing, lack of commercialism, convenience to dining, shopping and the many Historical attractions. For the boaters it's about 6 miles N. of the Oregon Inlet, 7 miles east of Privates Cove. This area features gorgeous uncrowded beaches and 6 miles of bike/pedestrian trail. South Nags Head is the choice of many repeat OBX vacationers.

Family Break

We were looking for a low population density beach location to get some relaxation while still being able to social distance. This house was a great choice. On the beach, plenty of space, and great views. The house and outside of property could have been cleaner. We cleaned up the inside better upon arrival. But there were 8 plastic bins containing used linens that were left on the property. I contacted prop manager twice and was told they would be removed, but they weren’t. Would have given 5 stars if it was cleaner.

I would recommend renting kayaks and paddle boards at the beach house and visiting Cape Hatteras. The drive is beautiful. Bodie Island light house is close by and a great sight to see while in Nags Head. We enjoyed eating at the Black Pelican Restaurant and visiting Jennette's Pier.The beach house needs a garbage disposal, garbage dumpster at the house location, and the tenants need to be able to control the setting on the AC UNIT or this information needs to be put in the rental agreement. The house cleaning needs to improved by the cleaning company. Overall we had a wonderful vacation and we will be back to stay at the OBX.

We have rented many homes in the OBX and this house by far has been the best cared for property we have experienced. Just a short walk over the dunes and you are on the beach. There was very little beach a few days, but you can’t help mother nature. The fridge is a bit small but they have no way to change that. Beach realty is great to deal with. We have dealt with other realtors who were not so helpful and friendly. Glad we found them.

Great House in Great Location Marred by Poor Housekeeping

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We, (family of parents and 3 teenagers) rented Sun Trippin' the week of July 4th. On the plus side the house is cheerful, tastefully decorated, and all the appliances and plumbing worked great. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi worked great. The house is well-maintained and the location is excellent, far enough from town to be quiet but close enough to shop and eat conveniently. The only downside, and it was a big one, was the cleanliness of the house upon arrival. I honestly don't think the maid did anything except make the beds. There was visible trash remaining from the previous renters, including an empty beer bottle, numerous bottle caps, and used tissues. There was copious sand on the floors, furniture, rugs, steps, sinks, showers, and commodes. The refrigerator shelves were full of water and it smelled strongly of raw shrimp. The ice container was visibly dirty. The second floor commode had clearly visible grime on the exterior. My teenage son even commented on his bathroom being dirty and wanted shower shoes because of brown stains in the shower. All these issues were resolved by my husband and me vacuuming and cleaning about 30 minutes, so I don't think it was unreasonable to expect the maid to have cleaned everything up before we arrived. The house is great but due to the cleaning issue I would hesitate to rent though Sun Realty again.

It’s a little off the beaten path, but we ended up enjoying the seclusion of it. The deck is amazing! We saw dolphins swimming by every day! We also enjoyed renting bikes and riding down to the local fish pier.The only downfall of this house is that it was not very clean when we arrived. We had early check in and assumed that the cleaning team rushed. We also didn’t have much room to store our food. It would’ve been nice to have a cupboard or storage space.Other than that, we were very satisfied and would definitely stay here again!

Reviewer Comments: Property was in a great location the people were nice and helpful, the only two things I would address are the carpet, the carpet is sticky and crunchy don’t believe carpet has a place in a beach house and second maybe at least clean the big windows/sliding door glass a great view and you can hardly see one the windows. I understand what you are dealing with there but a quick wipe down wouldn’t hurt. One more thing I thought of be careful on the deck the railing is not in great shape.

2022 vacation

Maybe tell people about the road coming into the property. We had a large truck and it was not easy to get in and out! It’s also not easy going to the breach for old people. There is a hill to go up and down. House is beautiful! Beautiful decorated. Great stay. Needs more deck furniture.

Great location! Beach is amazing and we have so much fun! Beds are very comfy. Vacant property in front really didn’t bother us. Kitchen was very well stocked. Would suggest a squeegee for sliding doors, outside glass had condensation everyday from temperature and ocean mist. Loved the sunrises every morning!!

The house seemed well maintained, well equipped, and clean. The refrigerator is aging however and should be replaced. Also, the property description needs to be more candid and disclose the abandoned, dilapidated house that is only 50 yards from the property and definitely impacts the view of the ocean (in a negative way)! Great location and easy access to the beach and to Nags Head, Hatteras, etc.

Beautiful! Just a few things to consider

Pros: Beautiful location, beautiful beach, house itself is lovely, easy parking, great response from the realty company! Cons: Windows were filthy. Usually this wouldn’t bug me, but the siding doors to the beach were really dirty and while you could see out of them, they definitely needed cleaning, easily solved by bringing windex or something with you. Top bunk in the kids room room had an almost completely broken board on the bottom, and all the “netting” or whatever is on the bottom was ripped and hanging down into the bottom bunk. It was fine because we only had two kids, so we just didn’t use the top bunk. Drains in the bathroom BARELY drain. Even if you rinse off after the beach, there will still be some sand on you and it just doesn’t go down the drain at all. Tubs get gross after a week there. Dryer was really rusty. When we emptied the dryer vent it was covered in rust. Our clothes came out fine, though. Definitely need to contact the realty company about the temp of the house and they’ll make sure the owners will keep it set to the appropriate temperature. Carpets also probably need a thorough cleaning, not just vacuuming. Overall, would definitely stay again. Any inconveniences were not a deal breaker at all.

We Loved Our Stay

We had an amazing stay at Sun Trippin'. Multiple decks to enjoy the sights and sounds of the beach and ocean! Step out your door and right onto the beach. We had no issues with the AC like previous guests had mentioned. We could control the temperature up and down as needed. The bedding is new and so comfortable. We only have a couple of suggestions: the blinds in the family room are stuck open at different heights and can not be adjusted, which make it uncomfortable to sit on the sofa at night because the neighbors next door can see straight into your house. There need to be some drapes in the master bedroom because the blinds do no cut out any of that amazing early morning sun. No one wants to be woken up at 5:30 on vacation. And lastly..the refrigerator needs to be replaced. It hums loudly non stop and there is no ice maker.

Some things I wish I'd known before renting

I'd say generally I roll with the punches on vacation, but there were enough petty things to make me feel petty too, so here are some things we wish we would have known before paying full market value for this "lemon" 1. If you face the ocean on the deck, your view will be about 20%-25% blocked by an abandoned and run down house. The house is boarded up, posted with "Call 911 if you see anyone in here" signs and is generally a real eye sore. On the positive side, it doesn't seem to have been overrun with crack addicts. 2, Getting to the trash dumpster is an adventure. You've got to carry your trash bag (no wagon or similar) down the road past 5 or so houses to get to the dumpster. Once there, opening the lid requires you to reach above your head (I'm 5 10) to push the lid open a crack and with the other hand stuff your garbage into the dumpster. Some of our party had shoulder replacements last year and couldn't do this. House rules are quite emphatic that trash must be taken out daily. 3. Not all of the blinds worked, so don't plan on sleeping in on sunny days. 4. Appliances are in bad repair, notably the fridge where the ice maker didn't work, but sounded like it was trying really hard to squeeze a cube out. Also the freezer bottom cage was rusted and past end of life 5. The clothes dryer might belong in the Smithsonian, but it's so rusted out that moving it might prove fatal. 6. The AC only can be set to 73 degrees (a.k.a. "swampy") and the instructions warn you that setting it lower will freeze the AC unit (I doubt the filters have been cleaned since Ike was president) and if you do set it, the owners will change it back up over the internet. Other than that-- it's charming (yes, that's sarcasm)

Sewer smell

Had a good time but when we arrived there was a terrible sewer smell that was not addressed or corrected for several days. Very grateful for the neighbor who came and fixed the problem.

2020 vacation

The property was nice and clean. The kitchen table area was more than just "cozy" the table was too big for the small area. There is a house that sits to the left of the house. You still have a gorgeous view, The upstairs new King mattress is very comfortable. The queen mattress in the room off of the kitchen really needs a new mattress. You can't adjust the temperature below 72, but we stayed in September, so extreme heat wasn't an issue. There were ceiling fans everywhere with great controls.. The new living room couch was very comfortable. The wifi is spotty. The shower underneath the house for rinsing off sand was nice!
