About this property
Crown Range Historic Stables
Fully self contained accommodation. Enjoy a unique experience staying in the refurbished 1860's stone stables building, the original stopping place for travellers between Queenstown and Wanaka, part of one of the original homesteads on the Crown Terrace.
This self contained accommodation is in the separate stone building on the property, with its own entrance and off street parking. The Stables is comprised of two adjoining stone and wood rooms. One room has a modern newly built kitchen, lounge and dining area with woodburner and laundry, including washing machine and dryer. The kitchen includes a full size fridge and freezer, oven, gas hobs, dishwasher and all the required cooking equipment. Included in the lounge is a bluetooth amplifier and speakers so you can listen to your own music on your devices plus there is also a smart flat screen TV. The other room is a large bedroom with king size bed, ensuite bathroom with 'one of a kind' round stone shower and double shower heads. There are two wardrobes and sets of drawers plus a luggage rack and two comfy chairs. Each room is a large fabulous space with lots of character and comfort. The access between the rooms is external with just a few short steps between the doors. In front of the building is a private garden area with outside table and chairs and comfy couch.
There is also a stand alone sauna in the garden to relax in after a busy day.
The converted Stables are part of a 5 acre property surrounded by century old trees. It is a beautiful rural location with stunning 360 degree mountain and valley views, enjoying lots of sunshine hours and one of the best places to see the sunset.
Arrowfarm is centrally located between 3 ski fields - Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Cardrona. There are fantastic views of both Coronet Peak and The Remarkables ski fields from the property, as well as the view over the Wakatipu Basin and Arrowtown.
Arrowfarm is on Crown Range Road, the main highway between Queenstown and Wanaka. Turn off State Highway 6 from Queenstown after Arrow Junction and it is just 2 kilometers up the 'zig-zags'.
The small historic town of Arrowtown which is 7 kilometers away has lots of cafes, restaurants and bars plus a boutique movie theatre. There are also lots of walks and bike tracks. Queenstown is 20 kilometers away and the airport and central retail centre are a 15 minute drive.
Other attractions close by are the wine growing area of Gibbston Valley, 3 golf courses at Arrowtown, Millbrook and The Hills, many walks and mountain bike tracks including Lake Hayes and the Queenstown Walking and Cycling Trail. It is a 15 minute drive to Cardrona Valley and 40 minutes drive to Wanaka.
Or you can just relax in the lovely rural setting spending some time breaking up your trip as they did in the past.

We had a wonderful stay. The host was attentive and made everything seamless, while the property itself was charming and cozy. The atmosphere was lovely, set in a picturesque location just a short drive to Arrowtown and Queenstown, a perfect base to explore the area.
Lovely comfortable and well-equipped property in keeping with the character of the area. Convenient location to Arrowtown and beyond. Great views from the front of the property over the whole Arrowtown and Lake Hayes basin. Check-in was easy.
The property itself was stunning and within east distance of Arrowtown and Queenstown. Had a relaxing time in the sauna (much needed post-snowboarding) and really enjoyed the fireplace in the lounge. Perfect winter getaway.
The property is exactly as shown in pictures. Very quiet and comfortable on the side of the mountain pass above Arrowtown. We loved the peace and solitude of the place and its just a short 10 minute drive to town.
This property is thoroughly charming and magical. We were greeted by a fresh flower bouquet. The historical stables have a great sense of place and the decor is whimsical. The views are spectacular. We would come back again and again.
This is a beautiful location of the Arrow valley north of Queenstown town. Comfortable bedroom with great bed and stone turret shower that works great. Next door room is a full kitchen and washer and dryer and sitting area with flat screen tv.
Beautiful gardens and view from the picnic table is a 360 degree panoramic view of the valley.
An amazing stay!
Such a nice place to locate yourself on the Crown Range Rd. Quiet very clean everything you need !
Excellent communication with Kerryn. Extended our stay and cancelled QT hotel. Good location for scenic drives to Wanaka, Arrowtown and Queenstown. Great bed, kitchen utensils, coffee tea and nice spot to sit outdoors. Lovely scenery out front of host home! Highly recommend
The photos for this place can never do it justice - it is absolutely beautiful. The carriage house is immaculately decorated, furnished, and clean. We loved all the little touches around both spaces and felt right at home. We appreciated the hot showers and laundry after several days of hiking and driving around, and were happy grabbing takeout dinners from the great restaurants in Arrowhead to eat back at the cottage in front of the wood burning stove. The view was breathtaking, and there is a picnic table to sit outside with your coffee or with Arrow the dog at night (he really will jump up and sit with you at the table if you let him) to relax and enjoy the lookout. We are already planning a return trip!.
One of the most beautiful places we have stayed in NZ. The setting, the view, the actual cottage, the decor all intimately done made us feel so relaxed. The wood fire adding ambience. Such a special place leaving us with happy memories and wanting to come back. Kerryn is such a wonderful welcoming host ... nothing was a problem to her. Made our 49th wedding anniversary very special. Thankyou.

Thank you for your lovely review Heather. It was so nice to meet you and your husband and so great to get such good feedback about how much you enjoyed your stay at The Stables. That is what makes it special being able to share our place with people who love it as much as we do. Hopefully we will see you back again sometime. Cheers, Kerryn
This is a quirky, comfortable place for a couple to stay. Where else do you shower jn a stone turret?
Directions from our host were very helpful, the views over the valley across arrowtown are spectacular
This gorgeous property, with its wonderful woodburner, was a fantastic base to explore the Arrowtown area. It was a well equipped cottage in a beautiful setting. A fantastic spot for serenity and peace.
