As soon as we drove in the gate, we started to relax. Lovely spot, great facilities, amazing views. Eagles, Orcas, Starfish.. only would have been better if my fisherman husband had caught fish! But what fun trying. Thanks for sharing your place!
We loved the place and will be back. I have already recommended it to many of my friends. Views and sounds of waves and birds are incredible. I went every morning for mandatory beach stroll and morning coffee ritual. The scenery is always changing. We enjoyed food and drinks at the Marina pub patio. Fish and chips and see food chowder are amazing.
Wood burning stove added special touch. The location is very central, close to everything, hikes, golf, beach, lakes, parks...
Place has everything to truly enjoy your stay.
Great hosts!!
Thank you!
Our stay was just as expected! Clean, close to the ocean, a great view, cozy family time by the fire, long walks on a deserted beach and interesting walks to the marina. Everyone slept well in comfortable beds and ate well in the easy to use kitchen. We had a lovely time!
The booking process was smooth, the owner was very easy to deal with and very accommodating.
The home is roomy, the area is quiet, and the view is beautiful. We would recommend this home-away-from-home to friends and family.
Thank you!
We enjoyed a long weekend here and found the place as advertised. Perfect for 3 or 4 people, cozy wood fireplace, nicely stocked kitchen with things like paper towel, spices, oil, vinegar. The view is lovely of the islands beyond the shore. And there are nice walks close by. Suitable for older guests and lots of games and books for younger guests on rainy days. A hidden gem. Thank you!
We loved everything about this place, from the many eagle sightings to the thick morning fog that burned off into glorious sunshine to the fun and eclectic assortment of mugs and the luxuriously cozy duvets. Within easy distance of the spectacular Strathcona Park for some world class hiking and then back to the cottage for a cozy evening fire and board games. A perfect family getaway!
Wonderful stay in this home! It had all the amenities we needed. We took full advantage of the back deck with ocean views. Great way to start the day with a cup of coffee and end it with a good book. The location is very convenient as its within 30 mins to Qualicum Beach, Coombs, Comox Lake, and Englishman River Falls. Lots of deer in the area for some experience with wildlife. I would definitely recommend staying in this home for a holiday!
This was the first time we ever booked a trip to the Island and at someones private home. Long story short best decision that me, my wife and the two kids made. Nice, cute Cozy house steps from the beach with breath taking views. The attention to detail was impressive, we did not lack anything in terms of towels, bedding, utensils. The wood burning fire place is a nice touch and corresponding with the owners and the check in process is a breeze. We were sad to leave but rest assured if this Gem is available again we shall be back.

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful and well maintained cottage with views of Deep Bay. We saw eagles every day and enjoyed the quiet and serenity of the place and its environment. The wood stove is a major asset and we loved our evenings at home with the crackling fire. Check-in process was extremely easy, and the individual heat thermostats in each of the rooms function very well. The kitchen is well equipped for making meals at home. Shops and restaurants are nearby in Bowser, and the location is excellent - Nanaimo and Courtenay are both about a 40-45 minute drive away. Everything was perfect and we would definitely love to stay here again!
Our stay was quiet and pleasant. We were greeted with deers almost everyday. To top it off a pair of eagles makes their normal round daily, so majestic.
Owners are very on top of things. Top ratings for quick response.
This location is very central to northern gulf island.
Great kitchen. Nice linens. Lots of room. A 20 minute drive from stores and communities. Couldn’t watch the US Open as limited tv which wasn’t in the description. Great hosts.
We spent about 10 days here and had a very good experience. The property is fully equipped, including a gas grill on the deck and a woodburning stove, washer-dryer, and evening visits from the local blacktail deer. Did we mention a couple of apples from the friendly couple across the street we encountered on a morning walk? It is literally a two block walk down to the marina and Ship and Shore restaurant, where we had (several times!) the best deep fried oysters we have ever had. Locally sourced and unbelievably tender and flavorful. Day trips over to Port Alberni, on the west coast, plus up and down the east coast to fairs and festivals. Lots to see and do. Or you can just walk in the woods just behind the property, or along the shore. A great place to relax and unwind. Kudos to the owners for having all the things a traveler needs and not so much kitschy bric a brac on every horizontal surface. The owners always responded immediately to our messages, so good contact there on the rare occasions we wanted to ask something. We recommend it highly!
Lovely property, with everything you might need, down to the sun loungers and logs for log burner. Short walk to rocky beach teaming with sea life and great views. We underestimated the size of the island so found it quite a distance from anything. 45 mins to Nanaimo as main nearby town/ city. But great getaway and very peaceful. Wished we'd stayed longer.
We found this exactly as listed and matched our expectations perfectly. Nicely laid out accommodation (disabled access too). Great verandah to sit out on in all weathers. All wildlife listed in reviews was there in plain view , particularly the bald eagles.
We used it as a base to visit Cowichan Bay (whale watching trip), Euclulet, Torfino, Cumberland, Englishman Falls and Qualicum Beach. Would have visited Victoria, Campbell River etc if we’d had more time.
Well equipped kitchen
Nice running loop around old railway line.
Very handy for main island highway.
Owners very helpful.
The owners are excellent. The whole process was easy and straight forward.

The property was clean, modern and located in a quiet location. The immediate area has a number of parks with excellent hiking trails. A must see location on Vancouver Island.
