Juliet’s beachfront bach on Wellington’s wild south coast
Skip the holiday traffic and head down to Wellington’s south coast, Juliet’s is an absolute stand alone beachfront bach at the southernmost tip of Wellington. 25 minutes from the CBD, its position at the foot of our farmland overlooking wild Cook Strait gives uninterrupted sea views across to the snowy South Island mountains. The bach sits at the end of the bay surrounded by walking tracks and seal colonies yet close enough to town to enjoy Brooklyn’s movie theatre or coffee at one of Wellington's iconic cafes. The Bach is completely off grid, cooking and hot water are gas heated, otherwise solar and generater power. This could possibly be the most unique and adventurous stay available of any capital city! If you love the outdoors, are keen on diving, fishing, beachcombing, stargazing and wild walking, you will love your stay at Juliet’s. Special conditions: 4wd or all wheel drive is required to get to the bach, however this varies depending on the weather and road conditions. You will also need to be prepared for whatever weather windy Wellington delivers. Whether glassy calm or wild and stormy, Cook Strait is astoundingly beautiful.

Awesome bach in a spectacular setting. Clean, tidy and beautifully presented. A great spot for a weekend away from it all. The diving is pretty good too. Enjoy!
Beautiful property with plenty of games, toys, and books. Gorgeous drive down to the bach (though would be difficult at night). Easy check in process and communication. We saw seals on the rocks right in front of the house! A lovely getaway from busy life. Just note there is no microwave so plan meals accordingly!
Had the best stay, location and scenery was captivating.
Got to see baby seals and watching the ferry crossing's on the cook strait. If you looking for seclusion and Nature with a beautiful cabin and warm fire...this is the best place.
Host were incredible. We loved it so much we want to come back.
Just an absolutely stunning property and beautiful unit. I could not have asked for anything better. Chrissy and Steve were the best hosts, truly warm, open, and caring people who went above and beyond for me. I will definitely be returning to stay again and can’t say enough good things about this place and the hosts.
An absolute stunning place and location to stay. The house was so lovely and the location made it even more spectacular! So nice to be off grid with still all the main amenities you need. Was lovely to have the fire going since the weather wasn't the greatest but we stayed nice and cosy and managed to get out for a walk to see the seals. We will definitely be back again.
We had a long weekend at the bach and enjoyed every minute. We are big fans of visiting the South Coast recreationally, but staying right on the beach was next level. We walked around to the unique lighthouse, got in a refreshing swim (in a wetsuit), and plenty of relaxing by the fire. Great selection of books, thoughtfully built house which is in touch with the surrounds. Could not recommend this more.
So close to Wellington but feels a world away. Gorgeous place, very peaceful. It’s past Sinclair Head so very little beach traffic. The house is so well set up and very cosy with fire all set when we arrived and hot water bottles for cold nights. The kitchen is great with everything you need. Host was very good and well organised, great communications.
My partner and I had the most magical weekend here. The decor, a balance between rustic and modern, was incredible, with so much to admire. We absolutely loved the hanging pots and pans, the green room, and the breathtaking view. The bed is also 10/10 comfy. We loved the fact that it was out of cell service, but make sure you’ve done any important comms before heading out there. Would love to return one day. Thanks for having us!!
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at an accommodation on the rugged south coast of Wellington, and I must say, we were truly blessed with beautiful weather throughout our stay. The stunning sunsets, along with the opportunity for diving, fishing, and long beach walks, made our experience even more memorable.
The accommodation itself was absolutely homely and warm, providing us with a cozy atmosphere to unwind and enjoy our time away. The fireplace (ready to go) added that extra touch, setting the perfect mood for relaxation. It was a well set up, off-grid batch, equipped with all the comforts of home, ensuring our comfort and convenience throughout our stay.
We never actually met the owners, nor did we need to, we were provided with all the necessary information prior to our arrival. The thoroughness of their communication meant that we had no questions or concerns upon our arrival, allowing us to simply turn up and immediately relax.
Overall, our experience at this accommodation was exceptional. The combination of the beautiful surroundings, the cozy and well-equipped batch made for a truly memorable stay. I highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable getaway on the south coast of Wellington.
