About this property

Wake up to ocean views from every room in this spacious and serene suite in coveted Deep Cove. With ocean access you can start the day off with an ocean dip or kayak, or for a slower start, enjoy a cup of your favourite beverage from the comfort of the outdoor patio overlooking the ocean.

This is a beautiful open concept lower level one bedroom, one bathroom suite. The bathroom has a stand up shower, toilet and sink and is located next to the bedroom. The kitchen has a fridge, dishwasher, stovetop, microwave, Wolf counter top oven and a coffee maker. It is stocked with all the amenities needed for your stay including spices, teas, coffee, oil, etc. The bedroom has top quality organic cotton percale sheets and pillows. The outdoor patio also has a dining table and comfortable seating with a view of the water.

Its is a perfect retreat for a couple who wish to take some time to relax and be by the ocean. We don't have a TV in the suite, but there is good wifi for you to stream from your laptop or other devices.

We live on the upper floor, so noise transfer is inevitable. However, we do try to keep noise to a minimum.

We have a large friendly dog that will want to say hello. If you are not into dogs, please let us know and we will endeavour to keep them out of your way.

We are conveniently located 10 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from the ferries and 10 minutes to the Town of Sidney which has great restaurants and shops.

Not so thrilled

The biggest issue was someone came in to our unit a couple of times, one to add prawn/crab bait to freezer along with their 8 plus big bags of frozen blueberries that were already there. There were 2 towels, 2 face clothes and 2 hand towels to use for the 2 of us for our 2 week stay. There was supposed to be a fully stocked kitchen which I assumed would contain spices, oil simple things on hand. There was a partial left over jar of peanut butter, a bit of salt and pepper and a few assorted tea bags. There was also lots of their stuff in cupboards that I guess they didn’t have room in their own place upstairs. There were about 6 coat hangers in closet that had all kinds of their own suitcases that took up most of the space. Oh yes, there wasn’t even a cupboard in bedroom to put our clothes in for the 2 weeks. I felt like we were unexpected drop ins and things had to be moved around. Another person complained about the vacuuming at 8:30, that didn’t bother me. It was the thumping of very heavy feet starting at 5:30 a.m. and showers shortly there after. No where on the site did it say I had to ask in advance for us to be able to use the laundry. Thank goodness my daughter lives about 15 minute walk away, and we were able to borrow the things we needed and also to do our laundry at her place. I had to calm down for almost 2 weeks before I could respond to sending a review. My husband and I have rented “many” places in Sidney and have never been upset. Will not return there.

Time away

It is bright, airy, very comfortable and clean. The front windows look out onto Deep Cove, a beautiful view. It has a full kitchen with new appliances, dishwasher. The dishes, cutlery, cooking pots and pans were all new and in good shape. Everything was as it is portrayed on the site. I was given 2 maps of the area and suggestions of places to go walking. The hosts were very hospitable, and unobtrusive. The big dog was friendly, and mostly ignored me, which suited me just fine. It is on the ground floor with the owners upstairs. I could hear them moving around, but mostly it was quiet. All in all, a lovely place to stay in a quiet, beautiful neighbourhood. I will be happy to go there again for some quiet time away.

A beautiful unique spot

My wife and I stayed for a couple of nights. What a unique beautiful spot. The place was clean and comfortable. Quiet night sleeps on a comfortable bed. Kim was a wonderful host. Great spot to stay and enjoy the Saanich area.

We are an active semi-retired couple living above the suite with our dog. We enjoy boating and time with our grandchildren. We love being able to share our oasis with others and look forward to hosting you.

Why they chose this property

This is a residential neighbourhood tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is great walking loops and various public access places to the ocean. During low tides you can even hang out on the beach and watch the waves and ocean life.

The Saanich Peninsula provides excellent cycling and hiking in the area. Whether you are coming for the recreation and activities or just to relax and take in the west coast ocean vibe, Salt Life will be ready for you.
