About this property
Panorama Magic A Sandy Bay Family Escape
Poised above the shores of Sandy Bay, take in breathtaking 180-degree panoramas sweeping up and down the Derwent River and off to the dreamy landscape of mountainous wilderness beyond. Just 10 minutes from the CBD, it’s a destination in itself with popular beachside cafés, restaurants, and shops surrounding picturesque Long Beach within easy reach. Offering ample space for the whole family, make use of two bathrooms, multiple balconies, and off-street parking. Embodying the very essence of Tasmania with panoramic views across the Derwent River and the gorgeous beachside village of Sandy Bay on the doorstep, this quintessential stay is ideal for groups and families.
Focused around an extensive light-filled living area with two three-seater lounges and a large flat-screened TV, kick back and relax with a spot of TV or open the sliding glass doors to the private deck. Gaze out to unobstructed 180-degree panoramas that trace the mighty Derwent from the fringe of Hobart Village and the Tasman Bridge across to expansive hills and hamlets across the river that glow and sparkle at night and down the coast to where the yachts and boats cruise in. The open-plan island kitchen adjoins the casual dining area and comes complete with all the essentials including a dishwasher. There is also a formal dining area.
The residence sleeps up to eight people. Three bedrooms are located upstairs, with the primary offering a queen and stunning views. The second bedroom also offers a queen bed, while the third bedroom sleeps two in a bunk bed. A fourth bedroom on the entry-level houses two king singles. The bathrooms are both comfortably modern, while the main has a separate shower and bath.
Additional features include a laundry with a washer and dryer, a barbecue on the deck, a rear courtyard and lawn, timber flooring, ducted and split-system air conditioning, and a WiFi-connected smart TV. During your stay, you and your group will have the entire house to yourselves. Please make yourselves at home!
Just a short drive south of the Hobart CBD, Sandy Bay is one of Hobart’s most exclusive and sought-after weekend or holiday escape destinations for locals and tourists alike. Famous for its laid back coastal vibe, waterside eateries and twilight markets, it ideal for families with plenty to do and see.
Drive a couple of minutes down the road to village shops with an IGA supermarket, butchers and news agency plus a host of café and dining options at Long Beach. Try the highly-rated Sea Grass Café on the Derwent (keep an eye out for dolphins or the local seal), Beach House Café, Hearty Wok, Ming Court or Sandy Bay Wood-fired Pizza. Collect some gourmet food from the Hill Street Grocer or the Blac Fig, and enjoy on the balcony with family or friends.
The beach is lined with parks and there’s a myriad of bush trails and coastal walks all close-by.
Every Friday night from October to March the Hobart Twilight Markets is a major attraction for locals and tourists. There’s live music and a mix of local handcrafts, food and beverages plus fresh produce.
Hobart’s CBD is only a 10 minute drive away, it’s super-easy to park there and close to all the attractions. Stroll around the cities historical buildings and cosmopolitan restaurants and wine bars, check out the vibrant Salamanca Market eatery scene or cruise on by Constitution Docks or jump on the ferry to MONA.
Mount Wellington/Kunanyi is only a short drive away and a must see for its natural wilderness setting and breathtaking views over Hobart, The Derwent and beyond.

Lovely cosy warm home, plenty of room for our three teenage children to spread out and the ping pong table in the basement was an unexpected bonus. Beautiful views, great location.
Hosting Hobart were great, communicating & responding to my messages regularly & promptly. The house we rented was a lovely, clean, comfortable home with fantastic views of Hobart, surrounds & the huge harbour, with so much to view & enjoy. The local wildlife was an added bonus to watch when seen.Hobart is a lovely destination
This is a comfortable house with wonderful views of the river. We all enjoyed watching cruise boats come and go, and the frequent yacht races.
Like many houses in Hobart it is built on a steep slope so it has an upstairs with most of the bedrooms and a bathroom, and a fairly scary set of stairs down to the laundry. There is a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor.
The kitchen is large, with a dining table and we enjoyed eating there and looking out at the river. We also used the barbecue on the deck.
The house is an easy 10 minute drive into the centre of Hobart and there are useful shops, restaurants, a playground and a beach just down the hill.
