The house was very nice and had everything we needed for a full month stay. Bank road is quite steep so it is a little hard walking from the house (at least with young kids), but adults found it do able and the location to the botanic gardens, thorndon shops, and ability to walk downtown or access the bus to the CBD was excellent. The views of the harbor are lovely and there was a lot of bird activity which was fun to watch from the window. Highly recommend

About the host
Hosted by Paul
Hosts Paul and Bea are originally from England, but have lived in New Zealand since 1993. We built the property and moved into it in 2003 and we enjoy showing it off to our guests.
Why they chose this property
The property is close to the city, but you wouldn't know it when you look out of the windows at the spectacular views. There are a lot of hills in Wellington and we are on one of them looking across a valley to the Botanic Gardens. The city is just beyond the gardens. The Zealandia wildlife sanctuary is close by and we are blessed with wonderful birdlife in the area.
What makes this property unique
We worked with an architect to come up with the unique design of this house. The property is on the side of a steep hill and every room has access to an outdoor area and spectacular views. This does imply that the driveway to the property is steep, but there is a double garage with internal access into the house.
