♡ "less than a 5-minute walk to the chair lift" — Jacob, Feb '26
» 2 min walk to the lifts » 7 min to Elk Avenue » 45 min to GUC airport
The Space:
A third-floor studio in the Grand Lodge at the base of Mt. Crested Butte — an open, easy-care layout with mountain views, set up for skiers and small groups.
➔ Sleeping: A king bed, plus a king Murphy bed that folds down at night, so four sleep comfortably in one open room.
➔ Kitchenette: Stove, mini fridge, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, and cookware — cook breakfasts, lunches, and dinners in.
➔ Bathroom: One full bathroom.
➔ View: Mountain views over the town of Crested Butte from the third floor.
➔ Building Amenities: Indoor and outdoor heated pools, hot tub, gym, elevator, and a lobby with a fireplace.
3 Pros:
✔ Less than a 5-minute walk to the chair lift, with the free shuttle right outside
✔ Mountain views over town plus indoor and outdoor heated pools and a hot tub
✔ A cook-in kitchenette — make meals in instead of eating out every night
2 Cons:
✗ It's a studio — open and efficient, not built for large groups
✗ Built in 1999, a 3-star building with dated common areas; no A/C and no in-unit washer/dryer
Guest Access:
You have the entire studio to yourself, plus full access to the Grand Lodge's shared amenities: the indoor and outdoor heated pools, hot tub, gym, and fireplace lobby. There's an elevator to the 3rd floor. Check in yourself anytime with the keypad code — there's no front desk at the Grand Lodge, but we respond quickly by message. Your unit comes with free parking. Shared amenities are operated by the building's HOA and can occasionally close for maintenance.
The Neighborhood:
The Grand Lodge sits at the base of Mt. Crested Butte, a short walk from the Crested Butte Mountain Resort lifts, with shops and dining right at the Red Lady Express base and the free town shuttle stopping steps away (it runs to town about every 15 minutes). The third-floor studio looks out over the town and the mountains. Historic downtown Crested Butte and its Elk Avenue — galleries, restaurants, and preserved Old West architecture — are about a seven-minute drive. The area is a year-round outdoor base: skiing and snowshoeing in winter; hiking, mountain biking, rafting, and wildflower season in summer. The Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) is about a 45-minute drive.
Getting Around:
You don't need a car here — the lifts, shops, dining, and a convenience store are all within a short walk, and the free town shuttle stops steps from the door (about every 15 minutes to historic downtown Crested Butte, roughly 7 minutes away). If you do drive, your unit comes with free parking. The Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) is about a 45-minute drive; Denver is roughly 4 hours.
Other Things to Note:
-License #: 304412
- Check-in after 4:00 PM / checkout before 10:00 AM, keypad self check-in.
- Sleeps 4: 1 king bed + 1 king Murphy bed in an open studio layout.
- Not pet friendly.
- No A/C and no in-unit washer/dryer (coin laundry is in the building). Kitchenette has a stove, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee maker.
- Pools, hot tub, gym, and steam room are run by the building's HOA and can close for maintenance without notice.
- The Grand Lodge is a 3-star building (built 1999) with dated common areas.
- CO and smoke alarms and a fire extinguisher are installed.
Interaction with Guests:
Check-in is self-serve with your keypad code, so you can arrive on your own schedule — no front desk to coordinate with. We're a message away before and during your stay and reply quickly (guests regularly mention how responsive and helpful our host Erin is). Want local trail, lift, or restaurant recommendations? Just ask.
