The Neighborhood:
Sacred Ground by Tiny Away is a charming tiny home on the outskirts of Ōkato, just 25 minutes from New Plymouth. This cozy spot sits halfway between Auckland and Wellington on New Zealand’s rugged west coast. The Taranaki region's character is defined by its raw beauty and vibrant spirit. Here, a pristine coastline with world-class surf breaks meets the perfect volcanic scenery of Mount Taranaki. The landscape is alive with blooming gardens, endless trails, and a rich cultural heritage and arts scene. Taranaki has something for everyone
Our local recommendations:

- Pukeiti is a 360-hectare rainforest park at Taranaki Maunga's base. It offers rainforest walking tracks through regenerating forests and stunning views of the Tasman Sea and nearby ranges.
- Egmont National Park is home to the 120,000-year-old Taranaki Maunga, New Zealand's most perfectly formed volcano, which last erupted in 1775. It's a sacred site for the Māori and a popular climbing destination.
- Dawson Falls is a 30-minute scenic drive from Stratford and offers great short walks on Mount Taranaki. The forest, with its moss-covered Tōtara and Kamahi trees, resembles a mystical Goblin Forest.
