About this property

Schoopers is set amongst rolling green fields on the edge of the Camel Estuary.

Schoopers is set amongst rolling green fields on the edge of the Camel Estuary, tucked away down a long country lane at Gentle Jane. Here you have just one neighbour, making this the perfect place to escape the crowds. You are only five minutes away from the beautiful village of Rock and fifteen minutes from the town of Wadebridge, which have all the amenities you need for a holiday in pure comfort.

The house is traditional, with a treasure trove of antique furniture and a library of books. Enjoy wonderful views of the estuary from the sitting room, or head out to the balcony: the perfect spot to sit and take in the surrounding countryside. The kitchen also shares these views so you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast while soaking in the Cornish countryside. In colder months, cosy up in front of the wood burning stove and watch the rise and fall of the estuary outside.

The house sleeps six across three beautiful bedrooms. The master bedroom is spacious with a large en-suite. The room is styled with soft blue and cream tones complimented by dark wooden furniture. The second bedroom is traditionally decorated with wooden antique furniture. From here, enjoy views stretching across the lush valley and down to the estuary. The third bedroom is a twin room decorated with calming tones of duck egg blue and pink, surrounded by greenery outside.

A bubbling stream follows a large garden and woods down to the shore, where you’ll find your own private shingle beach. This is perfect for launching a kayak, fishing, skipping stones, wildlife spotting, picnics, barbecues and general exploration. In the spring and summer, the well established gardens come alive with a whole host of bright flowers and foliage, from golden daffodils to beautiful magnolia trees. With stunning views and a truly unique location, Schoopers is most certainly a hidden gem of the Cornish coastline.

Wonderful spot
Schoopers is in a wonderful spot, there were a few niggles, there was no BBQ, I bought one and left it there for others, and most holiday homes I have been to leave supplies, washing up liquid, etc etc, there was only enough for one night at Schoopers. It DID imply this in the details but I think it should be clear. It is not a problem, you just need to know so you bring your own, The dishwasher broke down after a few days, Cornwall Hideaways did respond quickly but could not fix it as it was a new machine so we were without. The visitors guide was confusing, it had not been updated for a long time, wrong rental company information, wrong telephone numbers and confusing instructions regarding bins! The property itself is in a wonderful site, the long gardens down to the estuary were a children's paradise, and we had fantastic BBQs on the beach. At low water there was great sand banks to roam over, which again the children loved. It is safe to do so for 90 minutes before and after low water, then the water to the beach becomes deep very quickly with a fast current. The beaches nearby were lovely and a Michelin star restaurant in Rock. This may sound negative, I hope not, The best recommendation i can give....we have already booked Schoopers for next year

Poor standard of accommodation
Very poor accommodation in need of a complete update. Pervading damp smell. Flies were a huge problem.

Schoopers
We loved our stay at Schoopers. The private beach and wooded area were a highlight for us. Lots of kayaking and a beach BBQ. The house was a little dated especially the kitchen. We loved the welcome hamper and White Company products - a very thoughtful touch. We will definitely come back! Thank you.

Character House in Beautiful, Secluded Location.
We had a wonderful week at Schoopers. It has a "Swallows and Amazons' feel with a secret path through the woods to the beach/estuary. Sailing, kayaking and bonfires on the beach add to the sense of outdoor adventure. Its secluded position means that all you hear are birdsong and the distant drone of speed boats pulling waterskiers on the estuary. The house itself has character and amazing views. Some areas are a bit dated but comfortable and it has everything you need including a useful hose/washing line to wash down and hang up wetsuits. It is a short drive to Polzeath for surfing/body boarding and a 20 minute walk to Rock Village (great baker and butcher) via the road or a lovely 25 minute walk along the beach to Rock Waterfront/pubs/restaurants when the tide is out.
