Welcome to our newly remodeled lakefront cottage—your perfect Up North getaway! Nestled at the end of a private cul-de-sac, just 15 feet from the water’s edge, this charming retreat offers 100 feet of private sandy frontage on Long Lake. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or a romantic escape, our cottage has everything you need to create lasting memories.

Endless Outdoor Fun & Relaxation

Spend your days swimming, sunbathing, or exploring the lake with our paddleboat, canoe, kayak, and paddleboard. Our private dock is perfect for fishing, jumping off of, housing your private boat, or renting a pontoon for a sunset cruise. After a day on the water, unwind with a bottle of your favorite local wine on the boat, toasting to breathtaking lake views.

As the sun sets, listen to the soothing call of the loons echoing across the water—a true Northern Michigan experience. Gather around the fire pit for s’mores or relax on the covered patio, complete with a comfortable couch and picnic table—perfect for lakeside dining, morning coffee, or stargazing. Fire up the Weber gas grill for a lakeside cookout, and enjoy cornhole and lawn games for some friendly competition.

Our cottage was remodeled in 2016 and again in 2024, featuring a newly remodeled kitchen and bathroom. In 2025, we updated the beds and bedding for ultimate comfort. Inside, you’ll find a warm and inviting space designed for relaxation after a day on the lake.

We had a great stay at this property. The setting was so relaxing that we had a hard time leaving it to go sightseeing around the area. Our only inconvenience was the lack of washer/dryer in the house, but we found a local laundry (Eastfield Laundry) where you can wash your own laundry or have it done for you and ready for pick up in a few hours. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

The house on long lake was a beautiful property right on the water. House has everything you need and the host was very easy to communicate with. Great views and clean very sad leaving the property and going back to reality. I will be back to this house a hidden gem.

This was a great place to stay, inside and out. It was clean and had what we needed. My toddler son loved playing on the sandy beach and in the water with the stand up paddle boards and pedal boat. I would recommend it for a relaxing time away.

Up North Close to TC

We had a great stay! It's a great location close to Traverse City, as well as Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. The cottage has beautiful views of Long Lake, making you feel like you are right on top of the the water!

We rented this unit for a week in July with my young family and it was perfect! The water sports made for easy kid entertainment and the views were excellent. The hosts were great to rent from and very accommodating and responsive. I recommend!

The location is beautiful -- right on the water, and the hosts provide lots of fun little boats that you can use (paddle board, kayaks, etc.). The property is located on an inlet, which is nice and calm for paddle boarding.On the other hand, the property does not feel particularly private. The property is essentially in the owner's back yard. They have made some effort to screen off the rental from the main property with a line of trees, but that's not completely effective and it was hard not to feel like we were in somebody else's space. That feeling was heightened by the fact that, while we were there, the owner's family repeatedly came into our part of the yard (partly because there's a storage shed that they access by walking right next to the fire pit). The owners also allowed another neighboring family to use the rental's dock to store a boat, so we also had neighbors coming on our property to use the dock. The house is a mobile home with a brick addition. The living areas are mostly in the brick addition and are spacious and nice. The bedrooms are in the mobile home area and are cramped. The bathroom is also small, and the tub in particular is old and could be replaced. Other reviews have mentioned that the water has a poor taste, and that's true, but we brought bottled water and that was fine. There's no dishwasher or laundry machine. While we were driving home the host texted us about dirty dishes, and later she sent a VRBO message about dirty towels.

Thank you for your review. I’m sorry you felt the space was “in our backyard”. This property even holds its own tax ID. In no way is it our backyard, it has a driveway that goes down to the water’s edge. We do access an owners closet. I did not know my son had allowed the neighbors next door to use the cottage’s dock until later. I’m very sorry about that. I did not just message about dirty dishes, I messaged also because there were chocolate stains on rugs, stained towels, missing item from cottage and the overall condition of the cottage was rough. It took my cleaner twice as long to clean due to these items, which was disappointing.

What a beautiful spot! Very clean and quiet!! We had a little rain so the patio was a great place to hangout. My family enjoyed their time and asked to come back next year! Owner was very friendly! Five stars for sure !!

Perfect Lakeside cabin. Clean, well furnished and equipped and perfect location. Just feed from Long Lake. Easy to get to and check in was simple. Host lives next-door, which was very nice if I needed anything she was available, but there was nothing needed.

Beautiful Family Cottage!

We had the BEST getaway ever! The peaceful and beautiful setting was just what we needed. The location was great, close to almost everything that Traverse City has to offer. The cottage felt like home and had all the amenities and more that I would expect. Can't wait to come back.

Great “Up North” Vacay

We loved our time here. Our two kids enjoyed the mini beach and lake and kayaking/paddle boarding/etc. Fabulous location where you feel relaxed and away from the world but still close enough to get food and groceries and the comforts we enjoy. We will be back for sure!

Family Vacation

Our famiy vacation went great, so much to do in Traverse City area. Jason and Suzy were great hosts, helped with anything we needed. The house is in a great location and kept very clean. We had a few barbecue cookouts, and had a great time eating, playing and boating!

A great time!

Perfect quiet little cabin with great water access. Water was clean and lake was clear with little muckiness to it. We had a great time with our two children (2 under 4) and they couldn’t get enough of the pale boat and lake access. We will definitely be back!

We bought this unique property in the fall of 2016 and realized the importance of sharing it with other families to create many lasting memories. Life is so busy and so fast, we know the value in taking time out to spend it with the ones you love.

Why they chose this property

First and foremost, Long Lake is our favorite lake in Northern Michigan. The fishing and swimming are awesome. It is very clean and close to downtown Traverse City. It has a few great islands to hike and explore the wildlife. You can even order a pizza from the Long Lake Grocery and boat across the lake on your rented pontoon to the public dock to pick it up! Aside from that, this property has one of the nicest beaches on the lake. It is so serene in the cove and just a perfect getaway spot.
