About this property

Escape to a Luxury Cottage, hidden away on a small Private Estate.

The Cottage is located towards the end of a long private driveway, offering complete privacy and stunning views of the Norfolk countryside. The property was redecorated in December 2020 under guidance of a London interior designer. The accommodation consist of a good sized sitting room, with open fire and a separate reading table. The kitchen is fully equipped; including a (Nespresso)coffee maker, microwave and washing machine. Adjoining the kitchen is a dining area with a large table which comfortably seats 4 adults, enjoying uninterupted views over the estate. Both of the bedrooms are light and airy with large double beds. Outside there is a private garden with views of fields on three sides. The terrace has a new teak table and chairs and there are also 2 sun loungers, which are ideally located to watch the sunset.
The Cottage has its own parking area The Cottage is in the parish of Kempstone, between Litcham and Great Dunham, in one of the most beautiful stretches of the Nar Valley. There are some fabulous walks from the door, with Litcham Common and it's New Forest ponies just a few minutes away. In fact there is so much to explore close by including; West Acre Theatre, Swaffham Museum, Sandringham House & Gardens , Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall as well as horse racing at Fakenham. If you do feel the need to go to the coast, the historic town of Wells Next the Sea is just 30 minutes away. West Norfolk is fortunate to have some excellent places to eat, offering everything from a quick snack to a substantial lunch or dinner. Some local favourites include The Brisely Bell, The Dabling Duck at Gt Massingham and The Ostrich Inn at Castle Acre. You can also find seasonal local produce in many of the villages and Howard's Butchers in Gaton is one of the best in Norfolk.

Our Stay

The property was lovely, in a quiet setting (most of the time). However, we were disappointed at not being told about the absence of a TV (as we wanted to keep up to date with the Commonwealth Games). We were also disappointed by one of the neighbours doing some work to his house (which spoilt our stay a little bit). Overall though, we found our experience relaxing.

Great place to unwind

The cottage is great and so peaceful. Such a great place to "defrag"! The area is beautiful - plenty of walks and things to do and see. The beds were really comfy and the open fire was great (dogs loved lying by the fire!). We'll definitely be back!

Farm cottage delight

A wonderful, private farm cottage, delightfully quiet with views over fields with pheasants and deer. Lovely and cosy, so nice to return to after a day touring the coast or stately homes

Perfect

This is just what we needed. We’ve stayed for 12 days in August and even though the weather wasn’t the best we still had a very relaxing time and drove to the beach many times. The cottage is just lovely.

Beautiful cottage

We had a fabulous time. The setting was idyllic and even though the weather wasn’t great, the cottage was beautiful and our hosts were great. Highly recommended.
